Oklahoma to End Taxpayer-Funded Tuition for Illegal Immigrants

Oklahoma to End Taxpayer-Funded Tuition for Illegal Immigrants

“Federal law prohibits institutions of higher education from providing benefits to aliens that are not offered to U.S. citizens.”

The State of Oklahoma has agreed to end taxpayer-funded, in-state tuition for illegals after the U.S. Department of Justice challenged the state law providing the benefits.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced the agreement with the DOJ on X:

The Oklahoma law requires colleges and universities to provide in-state tuition rates to all aliens living in the state—regardless of whether they are legally present in the country or not.

But that’s discrimination against our own citizenry, and it’s illegal. “Federal law prohibits institutions of higher education from providing benefits to aliens that are not offered to U.S. citizens,” the DOJ stated in its press release announcing the lawsuit yesterday. “The Oklahoma law blatantly conflicts with federal law and is thus in conflict with the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution.”

The federal government’s complaint follows two executive orders recently signed by President Trump: “Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Open Borders,” to ensure that no taxpayer-funded benefits go to unqualified aliens; and “Protecting American Communities From Criminal Aliens,” to countermand state laws like the one in Oklahoma that offer in-state education tuition to aliens but not to out-of-State American citizens.

The DOJ lawsuit to overturn the Oklahoma law is part of the Trump Administration’s broader battle to end unlawful incentives to illegal immigration in the form of tuition benefits.

The government met with instant success in its first case, filed against Texas, where the program ended within hours. We reported the early win in Texas here.

And now Oklahoma, the fourth state to be sued, is coming in a close second in the race to shut down the blatantly unconstitutional in-state college tuition programs—they’re offered in over 20 states:

On Thursday, a Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District Court of Oklahoma formally recommended granting the joint agreement between Oklahoma and the DOJ, to be entered following a three-day waiting period for any objections to be filed.

“Federal law prohibits institutions of higher education from providing benefits to aliens that are not offered to U.S. citizens,”

what about the usa citizens getting the benefit of being protected from assault blmplo???!!!

I always thought this was no big deal. It is offered to any US citizen as long as the moved to OK. I was always more concerned with illegals taking any spot away at desirable unis—not how much they were charged. It’s been going on for a while. Why the kerfuffle now?

The kerfuffle is because Biden, or whoever was running the country, opened the friggin’ flood gates.

Personally, I would be making the “not under the jurisdiction of” argument. If they aren’t in the state legally, then they can’t qualify as “residents.” And if they’re not in the country legally, they can’t be in the state legally. They technically belong to some other nation, still.

“The government met with instant success in its first case, filed against Texas, where the program ended within hours.”

Some Red state. The program shouldn’t have existed in the first place. I’ve now been in Texas long enough to see the penetration of the left into Texas. Especially Central Texas. Austin is about as Blue as the Bay Area CA. Walk down the street in the Austin Domain area (near the Apple store) and it looks and feels like Palo Alto. Travis County: almost Alameda County CA. Williamson County: pink turning Blue. Example: Georgetown TX where the city council poses as conservative. A few years ago commemorative bricks were installed on the sidewalk near the old courthouse. These bricks honored all soldiers in all wars. However about 5% of the bricks were for Confederate soldiers. Within hours (approx) the city council ordered the bricks removed and they were. When has government ever moved that fast? Moreover the city council parroted BLM and woke rhetoric. RINOs all. Let’s not forget, Texas was a Confederate state. None of this surprises me as the GOP has been a fake party until Trump, but is still mostly fake. As Californians, and Third World invaders pour into the state, Texas will transition to a Blue state. All of the Texas cities are Blue, even Waco. We must fight and fight hard to prevent this. As long as Texas lacks Blue state gun control, we have a chance.

I am confounded as to how this has occurred in the several states that have recently reversed it; even more because they have been red states. There are surely blue states, likely all of them, that follow this policy as well.

I cannot believe that any voter, red or blue, would vote for this. This BS must have been buried deeply in bills that never saw the light of day, there cannot be any other excuse.

Now PLEASE go after Massachusetts!

I suspect the DoJ is going after the low hanging fruit first to establish wins in as many different Circuits as possible, even though settlement, before going after the ‘resistance’ oriented States. Not only does this narrow the list of offending States it also works as form of financial ‘area denial’ for illegal immigrants forcing them to pay out of State rates or go to a Univ in a ‘resistance’ friendly State which further drains public resources in those States away from US Citizens and increasing, even slightly, the pushback in those States against illegal immigrants.

What took so f ing long?!
