Shooter Kills 2 Children, Injures 17 at Minneapolis Catholic School

Minnesota authorities confirmed a shooting at the Annunciation Church and Catholic School in Minneapolis. The shooting occurred while the students celebrated school Mass at 8:15 AM this morning.

The suspect killed two children and injured 17 others:

“During the mass, the gunman approached on the outside, on the side of the building, and began firing a rifle through the church windows towards the children sitting in the pews at the mass. Shooting through the windows, he struck children and worshipers that were inside the building.”A name of the suspect is floating around. I refuse to put anything coming out about the suspect until I have confirmation. The shooter was armed with a rifle, shotgun and a pistol. Believed to be in his early 20s, the gunman took his own life in the rear of the church, O’Hara said. Two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed in the pews. Seventeen people were injured, 14 of them children. Two are in critical condition.

“This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and other people worshiping. The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said.

O’Hara did not identify the shooter. He only said the shooter, a man in his early 20s, took his own life behind the church.

The male “does not have an extensive criminal history.” Authorities do not have his motive.

Personnel have been treating five children:

“Children’s Minnesota is aware of the recent tragic shooting in Minneapolis. Our teams are trained to respond in times of crisis, and are fully prepared to care for impacted children. Currently, five children are admitted to our hospital for care. We will not share more details to respect the privacy of our patients and families.”

Mayor Jacob Frey has received a ton of backlash for rejecting thoughts and prayers.
