Uber Will Allow Women to Choose Women Drivers

Uber Will Allow Women to Choose Women Drivers

How long before we hear a woman rightfully complain she had a male driver?

Uber will allow women in select markets to request female drivers.

“When we make our platform better for women, we make it better for everyone,” Camiel Irving, Uber’s vice president of operations, U.S. and Canada, said, according to ABC News. “After hearing from women riders and drivers around the world, it was clear: Many want the option to match with other women. That’s why we’re proud to pilot Women Preferences in the U.S. for the first time … It’s about giving women more choice, more control, and more comfort when they ride and drive.”

The feature launches in Detroit, Los Angeles, and San Francisco in a few weeks.

The Women Rider Preference feature started in Saudi Arabia in 2019. Uber expanded it “to 40 additional countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, France, India, Mexico and Poland.”

So…it sounds like a great idea.

But…

How long before we see an increase in “trans women” Uber drivers?

How long before we hear a woman rightfully complain she had a male driver?

How long before we hear a woman driver rightfully complain she picked up a male customer?

How long before we hear about a woman driver or customer report a sexual crime against these “trans women?”

There is a reason why women prefer women drivers. Many women who survived sexual abuse prefer to be around only women. I cannot blame them.

I must admit that I feel more comfortable with a female driver, especially at night. I just do.

No word yet if Uber will implement a system that keeps males out of these preferences.

The Women Rider Preference is another opportunity for males to intrude on something aimed at only women.

And why can’t we also choose a male driver?
I usually prefer male drivers.
No offense, ladies. I just do.

Imagine requesting a woman and getting a chemically unstable tranny.

Here is the place it will really fall apart. When the women ask for a woman driver and have to wait hours because there is a minimum 2 to 1 ratio of male to female Uber drivers.
Women will then protest that they have longer waits than male passengers and that just cannot stand.

    George_Kaplan in reply to Martin. | July 23, 2025 at 9:56 pm

That could be avoided by something like an estimated wait time for a female driver v a male driver, or a ‘currently only X number of female drivers available but I number of male drivers. Would you like to wait or accept the first free driver?

Women drivers, or ‘women’ drivers.

henrybowman | July 23, 2025 at 5:36 pm

When will you be able to request a driver that speaks English?

That should begin to shrink the life expectancy gap between the two sexes.

What happens if the driver is “transitioning” from male to female, or, claims that he is? According to Dhimmi-crats’/leftists’ “trans” orthodoxy, a man who claims to be a women — whether or not he’s undergone sex change surgery, hormone therapy and the rest of the ghoulish process — is indeed a “woman.”

” ‘Trans’ women are women,” and, all of that nonsense.

A transexual is a mentally ill man who wears womens clothes and mimics their behavior. They are not and never be women.

Did Uber provide any other options on preferences for immutable characteristics? What if John wants a male driver or the Aryan Nation whacko demands a Caucasian driver? Will there be an option for sexual preference? How about Nationality? Could someone demand a US Citizen? How about if they want a ‘real’ US Citizen aka born the the USA not a naturalized one? Seriously who is favor of profiling all Men as potential bad actors? That’s what this boils down to.

I’ve had all sorts of ‘bad experiences’ with folks of ‘middle eastern ancestry’ during more than 40 months of ground combat, but I don’t put every person into a box as a potential danger. There’s all sorts of preferences I’m sure that many people would like to have met. Either we respect the idea that this crap doesn’t matter (minus lawful status in the USA) or we don’t.

I’d suggest that this is another example of unnecessary pandering/catering to a particular demographic which will have bad consequences… some of which are very foreseeable and others will come out of left field. This sort of naked misandry/prejudice should be rejected. No whining when things the supporters of this crap don’t want or didn’t expect happen and they will. No claiming ‘we had good intentions’.

Waiting for this to expand outside of Uber…

Women wanting women salespeople.
Women wanting women mail carriers and package drivers.
Women wanting women police officers.

Replace “women” in the above with any specification…

I would agree with you on most of the other areas but statistics show that they have rational fear of male Uber drivers. They already get a female cop to body search them and in retail areas, it makes sense to comply with their wishes such as car sales and clothing. I have had female doctors that I wasn’t as loquasious as I would be with a male doc. I don’t see gender in the same light as race.

To admit, whenever I have a need for a plumber, electrician, HVAC repair, or other maintenance, I always ask for a male.

Same thing for driving. I have seen how women drive. The only woman I want driving me is my wife. At least she doesn’t spend her time driving while putting on makeup, talking on the phone, and talking incessantly.

How long before a male driver rightfully sues for being denied business due to his sex?

ZenosParadox | July 23, 2025 at 8:11 pm

Women make up 81 percent of all sexual assault cases in Uber rides. It seems reasonable to me that a woman would want a female driver instead of a male driver.

    irishgladiator63 in reply to ZenosParadox. | July 23, 2025 at 9:02 pm

In an era where women can’t have their own locker room, showers, bathrooms, changing rooms or sports, they get their own Ubers?

CommoChief in reply to ZenosParadox. | July 23, 2025 at 9:26 pm

Now apply the same logic to say…. the victims of false allegations of sexual assault on College Campuses or in the workplace. If males want male only Univ and corporations will you also agree?

Heck let’s apply the same logic to ‘race’ while we’re at this. Gonna argue for separate but equal Univ and deny job applicants based on ‘race’?

destroycommunism | July 23, 2025 at 8:25 pm

thinking that those waymo autos are going to get put into service waymo re

Are the people who run Uber biologists? Do they have the credentials to define “woman”?

Ugh, Life is just getting too complex.

healthguyfsu | July 23, 2025 at 11:57 pm

I prefer a non millennial or gen Z driver. Can I get that?

Is it possible to request a hot woman driver?

E Howard Hunt | July 24, 2025 at 6:53 am

Unmentioned in this article are the tens of millions Uber has paid out in settlements for the sexual abuse and rape of female passengers. It is a big problem for the company and I applaud them for this move.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to E Howard Hunt. | July 24, 2025 at 6:29 pm

Sorry. I ain’t buying it. Bullshit.

I read the article, as tedious as it was. Not a mention that I could see in the mound of horseshit that indicates a single driver was arrested, charged, and subsequently convicted of sexual assault.

I even did a search of “how many Uber drivers were convicted of sexual assault.” The results? The same mound of horseshit. I waited around for the horse to come from the mound.

So, all of these women, who used an app that tracked date and time, the driver, the beginning and end of the ride, and not a single arrest or conviction.

Female Uber passengers are worse than college girls who claim they were raped, when the alleged assailants weren’t even in the state, let alone the school.

I will retract the statement if someone can show me where thousands of Uber drivers were convicted.

I will wait. Maybe the horse will climb out of the pile first.

Company HQ in SF. What is their company’s legal definition of woman?

Rick the Curmudgeon | July 24, 2025 at 8:25 pm

I’d be happy if they’d knock of the “No Weapons” bullshit for both drivers and passengers.
