The 2024 election was eight months ago and Democrats are once again demonstrating that they haven’t learned a thing. Despite the popularity of Trump’s immigration policies, Dems are considering trying to defund ICE if they win back the House.
This is all because of pressure from their increasingly unhinged base, which is now demanding violence in response to Trump.

- “You’ve got a situation where our base is demanding more and more of us every day,” said one House Democrat, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
- The lawmaker added that “a number of us have been told by constituents that we have to be willing to get shot” while trying to conduct oversight at ICE facilities and “be able to make news out of it.”
- Many Democrats are still scarred by GOP attacks on the #AbolishICE movement and hesitant to take steps that appear to be aimed at dismantling or downsizing the agency.
State of play: Just over the weekend, House Democrats in California and New York were refused access to ICE facilities in their respective states to perform checks on detained migrants…Between the lines: A clash is already brewing over how far to go — with some progressives eyeing actual funding cuts as moderate border hawks draw a bright red line in opposition to that idea.
In the meantime, Senate Democrats are still pushing for ICE agents to be unmasked, knowing full well the danger this represents to them and their families.

Senate Democrats press ICE on uniform, mask protocolA group of Senate Democrats are pressing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on the masking of officers not in uniform during its operations.In the letter, sent to acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, the group of Democrats argued the masks and lack of uniforms have led to chaos in Los Angeles as agents have looked to make arrests. The letter also accused ICE of seeking to meet “arbitrary quotas” set by Stephen Miller, a key adviser to President Trump widely seen as demanding huge increases in ICE detentions.“We write regarding the apparent widespread violations of historical norms and traditions in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (“ICE”) operations in Los Angeles and across the country by engaging in law enforcement activities—including arrests—without wearing identifying uniforms and while masked,” the lawmakers wrote.“As ICE engages in unprecedented numbers of immigration raids across the country, reportedly in response to arbitrary quotas set by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, it is crucial that ICE personnel not engage in conduct that is all but guaranteed to sow chaos and confusion and put law enforcement officers in danger,” the group added.
As I and others have pointed out, Democrats have never called for members of Antifa or campus anti-Israel radicals to be unmasked.
And to top it off, all of this is unfolding as ICE agents are being attacked by crazed leftists for simply doing their jobs, a policy that the American public voted for in November.
