Vanderbilt University Medical Center to lay off hundreds before end of fiscal yearVanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is expected to lay off up to 650 of its workforce as it nears the end of its fiscal year on June 30.The layoffs come after VUMC said it will have to reduce its operating costs by more than $300 million.Sources told WSMV, those affected mostly include administrative and other support areas.VUMC said they will continue to hire clinical staff such as doctors, nurses, care partners and surgical technicians to open the Jim Ayers Tower in the fall of 2025.Those affected will be notified over the next several days.
