U.S. Embassies Evacuating Non-Essential Staff in Middle East Over Escalating Iran Tensions

Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh threatened to attack American bases as nuclear talks have deteriorated.

The United States will evacuate U.S. embassies in the Middle East due to escalating tensions with Iran.

The first alerts I saw mentioned Baghdad.

Now I’m seeing other countries, too. From The Times of Israel:

“President Trump is committed to keeping Americans safe, both at home and abroad. In keeping with that commitment, we are constantly assessing the appropriate personnel posture at all our embassies. Based on our latest analysis, we decided to reduce the footprint of our Mission in Iraq,” a State Department official told The Times of Israel.

Earlier Wednesday, two US officials told The Associated Press that the State Department was preparing to order the departure of all nonessential personnel from the US Embassy in Baghdad due to the potential for regional unrest.

The department also authorized the departure of nonessential personnel and family members from Bahrain and Kuwait, giving them an option on whether to leave the country.

In addition, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has authorized the voluntary departure of military dependents from locations across the Middle East, a US official said. Another US official said that it was mostly relevant to family members located in Bahrain — where the bulk of them are based.

The sixth nuclear meeting might take place in Oman, but it likely won’t, since everything has deteriorated.

Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh threatened to attack American bases: “Some officials on the other side threaten conflict if negotiations don’t come to fruition. If a conflict is imposed on us … all U.S. bases are within our reach and we will boldly target them in host countries.”

Iran insists it would have a “peaceful” nuclear program.

That’s as likely as me ever cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Trump told the Pod Force One podcast he has become “less confident” about reaching a new deal with Iran.

The handwriting is on the wall. The ayatollah is calling for someone to interpret it for him now.

To be honest is would be reasonable question why we have any “non-essential personnel in the Middle East; it being a generational war zone.

Why are there nonessential people in *any* American installations?

That’s as likely as me ever cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.

What if a St Louis cardinal were to become pope? Would you cheer for him then?

Anybody know how to say FAFO in Persian? It look s like Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh only knows the FA half..

The sixth nuclear meeting might take place in Oman, but it likely won’t, since everything has deteriorated.

And what good would yet another “nuclear meeting” have been since Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced Iranian nuclear activities and enrichment would continue despite anything the United States might do.

Einstein about repeating a failed process. We all knew this was hopeless. When the mullahs see nuclear destruction as one way to get the 13th imman out of the well….when they love death more than life….how do you win at negotiation?

Is that a“peaceful” nuclear program more like the peaceful riots in LA, the peaceful physical assaults on Jewish students, or the mostly peaceful George Floyd riots?

Just heard that Israel has struck Iran, targeting their nuclear facilities. Keep thine codpiece buttoned.
