Jake Tapper’s Endgame Comes Into View: We Failed Covering Biden’s Age But We Won’t Fail With Trump

As Jake Tapper tours the media landscape hawking his new book about Joe Biden’s mental decline and the related cover-up, one has to wonder what his end goal is here, besides making money off of book sales.

It’s already starting to come into focus. This is all going to be about how the media covers Trump in the remaining years of his presidency.

Jake Tapper knows that he and the media couldn’t possibly go after Trump on this kind of issue unless they acknowledge the problems with Biden, so the book tour is more like an act of penance, so Tapper and others will be free and clear to attack Trump.

How do we know this? Tapper is already saying it.

FOX News reports:

Jake Tapper calls out Trump, says he ‘has not been transparent about his health records’CNN’s Jake Tapper, co-author of the new book on the alleged cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s health decline, says President Donald Trump is not forthcoming with his health information.”I just think in general, not Trump specific, but in general, I think that the press corps, and I‘m certainly including myself, needs to worry less about politeness when it comes to these health issues and needs to be even more aggressive when it comes to demanding transparency on health issues,” Tapper said Thursday on “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.”On Tuesday, Tapper’s book, “Original Sin,” co-authored with Axios journalist Alex Thompson, was published…”When it comes to the president, President Trump, while he appears healthy, he has not been transparent about his health records,” Tapper said. “And I think that that‘s something that the American people have a right to.”

What Tapper is essentially saying is that he and the media made a mistake by letting Joe Biden off the hook for four years, and they’re going to make up for it by aggressively going after Trump. Doesn’t it all make sense now?

My colleague Stacey Matthews recently wrote about this at RedState:

Though Tapper has not claimed he’s seen signs of Trump in decline, he has said that he “appears” healthy but “has not been transparent” about his medical record. This is, of course, what’s called “setting the stage” for the same press who fretted endlessly over Trump once walking down a ramp slowly and once using both hands to grip a glass of water to go full-court press on simply “raising questions” about Trump’s health as a way to make up for their Biden-era sins and to “express concerns” in the coming months about his ability to lead for four years:

Jake Tapper was not suddenly possessed by a new sense of honesty. This is all about politics, as it always has been for our media.

You can see where this is headed from a mile away.
