Trump Issues 90 Day Tariff Pause Except on China
“I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately.”

President Donald Trump raised tariffs on China to 125%. The countries that have reached out to negotiate received a 90-day pause.
Trump wrote on Truth Social:
Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately. At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable. Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has to be involved every step of the way:
“The successful negotiating strategy that President Trump implemented a week ago today, it has brought more than 75 countries forward to negotiate…. Do not retaliate and you will be rewarded. Every country in the world who wants to come and negotiate, we are willing to hear you.”

Earlier today, China announced it placed 84% retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods.
Also, the European Union approved its first set of retaliatory goods on U.S. goods.
The stock market went crazy after Trump made his post.
From Fox Business: “The Dow Jones Industrial Average spiked over 2,000 points or 6%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq which was first to sink into a bear market last Friday, jumped over 8% and the S&P 500 added nearly 7%.”

Well look at that, countries that reached out to negotiate get looked after while those that suffer from Trump derangement get nothing, as it should be!
Chu-na, Mary, Chy-na
OMMFG!!
Seriously? This MORON is running the country????
what the F will it take you redhat goobers to see the obvious.
But hey, I tollllllld ya.
This is exactly what we knew was going to happen. The tariffs were negotiating chips from the beginning. Trump wanted to get countries to negotiate and if they did come to us to negotiate he would reward them by temporarily granting them a reprieve. If countries decided to fight us, as China did, he would ratchet up the pressure on them.
No, moron leftist, WE told YOU.
Exactly what we said was going to happen, has happened. Countries have lined up to negotiate, and Trump is negotiating. Countries that are trying to act tough, get spanked. Carrot and stick.
Exactly what we all said the entire time was the goal.
Also, you should outsource your trolling to Grok or ChatGP. At least they can form coherent, properly punctuated sentences.
Another weak mind expressing itself with gutter language in the form of initials.
Not only are you a complete moron. You also took the Good Lord’s Name in vain.
Get lost.
How can you be so willfully blind? Read the article.
.
Go F yourself twice you inbred moron since it’s hump day today and no one else will.
please enlighten us, what is “the obvious’ that we are failing to see?
Your diaper must be full
Diaper? Crap is coming out of its mouth.
As Duke Nukem said your face, your ass, what’s the difference?
I look forward to the day when history bitch-slaps you with a brick, as it already has Harris and Walz.
World is happy with a 10% tariff and is united against China – all in
record time. Art of the Deal.
*trolllllllld
Finish your coloring book and go to bed, retard
Your anger makes me smile.
Well, bet you got a stiffy from all the outrage generated by that inane rant. But we know Trolls have to get their kicks somehow!
Can we please not allow the all caps that are a total offense to God?

Well, well. The announcement of the Trump Tariffs seems to have begun separating the wheat from the chaff in ID those Nations who wish to negotiate trade policy, to include non tariff protectionism like import bans/quota restrictions on agriculture, in good faith and those Nations who seek a more belligerent path. When the USA finally, after decades of patience and restraint in the face of asymmetrical anti free trade policies, decided to act vigorously in a long overdue response other Nations took notice. Many coming to the table with unilateral proposals to lower or end their own restrictions on US exports. Those who didn’t and those who threatened even higher asymmetrical trade barriers can go to the back of the line for resolution.
Our ‘allies and friends’ shouldn’t categorically ban US products, including agricultural products, for any reason. Only Nations who seek our enmity would do that. Any Nation who chooses that path should be prepared to become a neutral at best and an enemy at worst. They certainly shouldn’t anticipate access to US capital markets, consumer markets,.financial or military assistance. Those should be reserved for the Nations who demonstrate their friendship with open/free trade.
Chins is hyperventilating. That’s fine w/me.
.
Looks like China is getting the stick. The EU should as well, since they decided to scheme with the ChiComs.
The EU needs to understand, this war has two sides, America’s side and China’s. Pick one.
Charge the NATO members of the EU a `10% tariff as a defender fee.
and now chicoms are once again isolated
maga!!!!
That’s the goal, which is why to the puzzlement of many finance channel talkers the last few days said Viet Nam? Yes, VN has been a conduit out for China’s exports to the West. VN will have an opportunity to stop.
To save face China will invade Taiwan to show their power
They’re going to need a better navy for that. Invading Taiwan isn’t remotely easy.
Panicans hardest hit.
This is what should have been done as each of those countries showed up to negotiate not after people lost their money, and it should have been done by getting on the god damned phone with these foreign officials not by implementing tariffs.
I am grateful he is stepping back from a catastrophic policy but do not kid yourself. What got this pause was the destruction of the stock market.
We should all be grateful to Israel, Hungary, Vietnam and other nations that made it possible for Trump to get out from the brink of following moron Peter Navarro over genius Elon Musk before a depression started.
Trump by the way discredited nearly everyone who comments at LI by doing it because what this shows is DONALD TRUMP knows this was going catastrophically poorly. All of that support for Peter Navarro well it apparently is no longer Trump’s position and thank god.
Hope he removes the 18th century morons from his administration and stops listening to Laura Loomer and takes Elon Musk and other adults a lot more seriously from this point onwards.
People don’t listen to empty threats.
Lost money? That’s not how market price changes work. One can only gain/lose when they execute a transaction to buy/sell. The ‘value’ of a portfolio is absolutely gonna fluctuate. If someone lacks the psychological and emotional maturity to withstand uos/downs without panic or angst they need to either get an Investment Pro to hold their hand or find investments that are more stable…like a CD. Anyone who operates on the false expectation that ‘stocks go up and won’t go down’ is misinformed.
VDH had a good take on this. Surprised since this site usually quotes him.
How many times does THE MORON have to change his story on tariffs before you redhat goobers figure it out? He . Is. A . MORON
but hey- I tollllllld ya?
