Rep. Brian Harrison: How Texas Universities Are Sidestepping the DEI Oversight — Legal Insurrection Podcast: Episode 25

“I think every Texan has to understand this—I would not have believed it if people had told me what it was like before I got elected myself.”

In the latest episode of the Legal Insurrection Podcast, Texas State Representative Brian Harrison joined Kemberlee Kaye to pull back the curtain on how higher education institutions in Texas are actively undermining the state’s ban on DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)—and how Republican leadership is enabling it.

“And I promise you: if you’re listening from another state—if this is happening in Texas, which is 100% Republican-run—I promise you it is happening in your state. And if you’re a taxpayer in that state, I promise you: you are paying for it.” Rep. Harrison warned

From exposing over $1 billion in DEI-influenced state contracts to infiltrations of woke ideology in rural school districts, Harrison paints a disturbing picture of what he calls “the largest funder of DEI in America”—the state of Texas itself. Despite legislation passed to prohibit such programs, he argues the enforcement is toothless and riddled with carveouts.

“The first four pages of the bill to ban DEI look great,” Harrison said. “But by the time you get to page five… then starts the exemptions.”

This episode is for anyone concerned about government transparency, accountability in red states, and the progressive ideology embedded within public institutions. Harrison’s call to action is clear: Texans must confront not just the left—but the Republican establishment enabling it. And if you think this is just a Texas problem, think again—what’s happening in Austin is already creeping into red states across the country. No one is immune.

The RINOs in the Texas legislature are a huge part of the problem. They talk a much better game than they play.
