Boeing Starliner Crew Talks About The 9-Month Stay Aboard the International Space Station
Williams also spoke later during a NASA press conference, where she even said her recovery has been ‘miraculous.’ She can probably thank grilled cheese.

sThe Boeing Starkuber crew, NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore, recently gave their first interview on Fox News after returning to Earth following an unexpected nine-month stay in space.
Originally planned as an eight-day test mission, it was extended due to technical issues with the astronauts’ capsule, which made it unsafe for their return. The astronauts were brought back earlier this month via SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft.
The NASA astronauts—who officially made their return to Earth on March 18 after spending nine months in space once their mission went awry—are speaking out for the first time about their expedition.
“My first thought was we’ve just got to pivot,” Williams said in an interview with Fox News’ America’s Newsroom that aired March 31 of learning about their delay. “If our spacecraft was going to go home based on decisions made here, and we were going to be up there ’til February, I was like, ‘Let’s make the best of it.'”
In fact, Williams noted she was “excited” when it came to spending in even more in space than initially planned. “I’m honored,” she explained of the mission, “to be a little part of it.”
Williams shared the food she craved the most while she was in space.
The astronaut said that more than anything, she’d been craving a simple reminder of home; a grilled cheese sandwich. “My father was a vegetarian so I had a good grilled cheese sandwich when I got home. That reminded me of him,” she said after being asked what food she most wanted in space.
She said that the first thing she had wanted to do after landing was, “hug my husband and hug my dogs. And I’ll say in that order,” she added, jokingly.
Wilmore added that embracing his family again had also been the top of his list after landing, as well as getting “the opportunity to just say thank you.”
I have to say, a good grilled cheese sandwich can be out-of-this-world.
When they landed, concerns about Williams’ health were raised, as she looked particularly thin and potentially unwell. However, she and Wimore are recovering well from their extended space stay.
But Vinay Gupta, a pulmonologist and Air Force veteran, told DailyMail.com that Williams’ face looked fuller, less sunken when she and Wilmore gave their first interview today on Fox News today.
‘It looks like she just has gotten better sleep,’ he added. ‘She’s back on level ground. Her metabolism is normalizing to sort of normal gravity.’
,,,’She’s probably just eating healthier and is able to sort of modulate and gain back some weight,’ the doctor continued. ‘I think two weeks has probably been sufficient to look just healthier.’
Williams and Wilmore spoke later during a NASA press conference where she even said her recovery has been ‘miraculous.’
Clearly, the science now suggests that grilled cheese is medicinal.

Nothing like comfort food when you’ve been denied it for so long!!
If Elon Musk was an outspoken Biden supporter and this happened in 2020 and and it was then-President Trump who denied them a reasonably quick return home to keep Biden from having a win, it would have been one of the biggest stories of the campaign cycle. The Democrats may have Impeached him again. To whatever extent the media has covered Biden’s decision, the coverage has been designed to paint Trump & Musk’s as fabulists, often characterization the allegation as being ‘claimed without evidence.’ CNN even put it this way: ‘President Donald Trump and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, now one of Trump’s top advisers, have repeatedly taken credit for expediting Williams and Wilmore’s return. Trump and Musk have also accused the Biden Administration of abandoning the astronauts in space for “political reasons,” though there is no publicly available evidence for that assertion.’ Whose rocket does CNN think they came home on?
But, it wasn’t and he didn’t.
The whole thing was just so sad and deflating. No one in the government cared about them at all. More effort was put into getting a black dope-smoking basketball player freed from a Russian jail than into rescuing two astronauts. The Biden administration was simply giving them the modern version of the Laika treatment.
The America I grew up in would have created a special “crack-team” from all walks of life with even the janitors finding a way to contribute to the special mission to find a way to bring them home.
“ No man left behind ” and certainly never, ever an astronaut.
NASA is still acting like this is the 1960s. There should always be another craft available for launch at the nearest open window when we have people on the ISS.
The story inexplicably refused to confront the burning question of the day;
“Did she have homemade tomato soup with her grilled cheese sammich?”
It is great that they are recovering, that does not change that long term radiation exposure will cost them a lower life expectancy.
You are dissociating the blatant evil at Boeing from this event.
This could easily have ended in death for these people. Why? Stupid, evil, greed, woke.
So when I say I shed no tears for that health care CEO, this is why. This wasn’t some nameless, faceless, bastion of greed where this “just happened for no reason.” Recall there is a whistle blower who is dead. There are dozens more who were shut down. The government is asleep at the wheel (trust me, I know).
There were [and is… they have not all been flushed out] execs at Boeing with names, faces, and power that could not be questioned who made this happen. They are worse than white collar criminals and they have gotten a pass.
The same is true for big pharma and a dozen other places where woke met greed. Everyone loves the hate porn on Kathleen Kennedy and Disney…. well nobody is dying from bad entertainment. People have died from this stuff.
