Trump, Hegseth Announce the New Future Fighter Jet F-47
Boeing will build the jets in St. Louis.

President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that Boeing would build the future fighter jet F-47.
“The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built,” said Trump. “An experimental version of the plane has secretly been flying for almost five years, and we’re confident that it massively overpowers the capabilities of any other nation.”

The jet, known as Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAF), will be the “crown jewel” of our Air Force’s future drone aircraft. It will be able “to penetrate the air defenses of China and any other potential foes.”
“Level five is good, this is level six,” continued Trump. “They say the F-47 is equipped with state of the art stealth technology. It’s virtually unseeable and unprecedented power. It’s got the most power of any jet of its kind ever made. Maneuverability, likewise, there’s never been anything like it.”
The public will likely not see renderings of the plane, keeping it secret to avoid enemies from stealing secrets.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin said:
This is more options for the president. We say as our mission in the United States Air Force is to fly, fight, and win air power anytime, anywhere. If you want to go anywhere, you have to have a platform that gets you anywhere.
This provides the president options from the very one end, which is a quick response, and then we can get right back into fighting stance without having to deploy troops that are going to take maybe months and cost more lives. We can be back in fighting stance and maybe we restore that to terms all the way to decisive victory as part of a joint force that is most lethal and capable military evidence in the history. That’s what we provide now and this allows us to provide into the future.
It’s more deterrence, more capability. It’s what peace through strength looks like into the future, Mr. President. So we’re very proud of that. And all we can say is on behalf of the United States Air Force.

Boeing won the contract to build the F-47.
Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) said Boeing will build the jet in St. Louis.
Big day for Missouri.
Big day for America.
The F-47 next generation fighter that will dominate the skies and protect America will be built in St. Louis.
This has been a big priority for me & for the people of my state and I want to thank President Trump for his leadership.

God willing, not to its own operators.
Osprey-47
Unless Boeing overcomes its institutional weaknesses related to DEI and other non-merit based hiring and promotion practices, I don’t see this as a step forward.
Boeing’s military programs seem to be run differently (meaning “competently”) compared to its commercial airline and human spaceflight divisions.
Like the F35, if you need parts or help fixing, Just call China. May thanks to Lockheed Martin.

Lockheed Martin’s F-35 is one of the most advanced (and expensive, at a development cost of around $400 billion) aircrafts ever produced, so the theft of its specs and technical details was especially galling. The F-35 has been called a “flying computer” for its advanced, long-range sensors that can detect and target enemy aircraft before it’s even seen or detected. A since-declassified 2014 U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission Congressional report cites a Defense Science Board finding that Chinese cyberattacks resulted in the theft of a range of U.S. weapons systems — including the F-35.
From what I have heard, a lot of the F-35 was developed in an unclassified proprietary environment because it is a multi-national project. The F-47 has been highly classified to this point.
Bring back the A-10 Warthog. What a capable aircraft!
Indeed, for its intended purpose there’s nothing else like it. There are times when low and slow is what’s needed rather than high and fast.
.
Boeing’s military is basically McDonnel-Douglas since they merged with them years ago. MD made the Phantom F-4 which I flew and it was a great AC. The military division of Boeing has nothing in common with Boeing’s other divisions. It is childish to make a mockery of a great company’s fighter division.
Not at all a bailout because they are cancelling SLS! Totally will work as advertised! Wont destroy the defense budget!
And so it shall be nicknamed, “The Yellow Brick” because it they’ll dump a lot of heavy yellow stuff into it, but it probably wont fly.
“The public will likely not see renderings of the plane, keeping it secret to avoid enemies from stealing secrets.”
Like Joe and Hunter didn’t already sell the plans to the Chinese.
A smoked view similar to the B-21 rollout has been released.
Not sure it is needed at this time. The future is drones probably paired with an existing platform like the f35 which was designed with this in mind.
The F-47 is more a replacement for the F-22 and will be used in the Air Defense role. The F-35 is intended for a different battle space role.
There are several problems here. The air force fighter jocks always want something faster.
While the f22 is awesome it hasn’t really been needed because we haven’t gotten into a peer-to-peer conflict for which it is designed. There are only around 190 and no ability to make more. They already want to retire it even though it’s still the most superior warfighter out there. The f35 + f15 maybe acceptable for the air superiority role even against a peer adversary.
Manned aircraft will always be limited by the physical capabilities of pilots. Drones win out here.
Stealth aircrafts have problems with maintaining their stealthy coats. The are high maintenance. They can’t fly too fast or their stealth degrades. I also think there are weather issues.
Another problem is one of cost. These planes are getting more and more expensive. How many can we afford to build. Cheaper drone swarms might also be the way to go.
I’m no expert but like many I’m attracted to reading about but military articles when I come across them so these are just my opinions with no expertise behind them.
“Not sure it is needed at this time. The future is drones”
The article uses the term drone (once) to describe it, which i’m not sure was inadvertent or accurate.
There has been noise about it being both manned and unmanned. It would be an expensive drone. Each one is estimated to cost hundreds of millions. By comparison the f22 costs 120 million per plane and the f35 80 millian per plane.
It has yet to be pointed out, President 47 has revealed the F-47. The Democrats will have a fit over this.
For the sake of Boeing’s reputation I hope this works out. Military and civilian are different beasts I know but in the public’s mind there is no difference.
If you want to learn more about the F-47, you’ll need to hack into the Russian and Chinese spy networks. They probably have all the blueprints and full specs, just like they did with the F-35.
Future defense against the better faster stuff will include suspended claymores.
