Pete Buttigieg for President in 2028?

Pete Buttigieg for President in 2028?

Rumors swirled that Buttigieg would run for the Michigan Senate seat in 2026.

According to Politico, former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg won’t run for the Michigan Senate seat in 2026.

Buttigieg wants to run for president in 2028 because he did so well in 2020. #sarcasm

Politico reported:

His decision was framed by several allies and people in his inner circle as putting him in the strongest possible position to seek the presidency, and based on a belief it would be exceedingly difficult to run successive campaigns in 2026 and 2028.

The former Transportation secretary acknowledged recently he had been “looking” at a Senate campaign, including meeting with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to discuss the possibility.

Democrats are scrambling to hold onto the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Gary Peters in a crucial swing state. Republicans see it as a top pickup opportunity after coming close to flipping the state’s other Senate seat last cycle.

Buttigieg and his family moved to Traverse City, MI, after leaving office earlier this year.

What a foolish idea since polling showed he would start strong in the Michigan Democratic primary.

David Axelrod said the absolute “hardest decision in politics is to pass on a race you have a very good chance to win.”

Axelrod added: “Pete was an A-list recruit and would have been a formidable candidate for the Senate had he chosen to run. But had he won in ’26, it would almost certainly have taken him out of the conversation for ’28. This certainly keeps that option open. Beyond that, I have a sense that he wanted to spend more time with his family, and with people in communities like his, where the conversations and concerns are so different than the ones you hear in the echo chamber of Washington.”

The Republicans have a decent chance to flip the Michigan Senate seat in 2026. The party could also flip seats in Minnesota and New Hampshire.

Of course, it all depends on what failed Democrat presidential candidate former VP Kamala Harris decides for her future. California governor in 2026? President in 2028?

Considering President Donald Trump destroyed Harris in November, it’d be foolish for the Democrats to prop her up again.

Then again, the party is in shambles and tied itself into knots with its infatuation with DEI. Buttigieg is gay but…he’s a white male.

Please, PLEASE, let these idiots keep stepping on rakes. I pray the Dems will put this little candy ass up for POTUS. Vance would rip him to shreds in a debate. When you look up Buttigieg in the dictionary, it says “see: empty suit”.

I simply do not understand the progressive mind. I look at a candidate like Bootyjudge and marvel that he could garner a single vote outside the baby-trafficking, faux male childbirth and chest-feeding crowd.

That Li’l Pete is considered a credible candidate by the Democrats is the greatest condemnation of our Education Industry one could envision.

yes- don’t they know they should pick a reality tv star with a criminal resume who wants to do important things like rename the Gulf of Mexico!

That person was not only a TV star, but won the presidency twice and changed the skyline of several cities. Not to mention he’s created more peace than potholes. What has Mayor Pete EVER actually accomplished? He’s a fraud pretending to be a brainiac.

Compared to the failure of a mayor of South Bend and Transportation Secretary that Pete is…yeah. Trump is a better choice. Heck, you might be. At least we haven’t seen you fail in government positions.

The Dems ran actual felons in 2016 and 2020. That trumps a “criminal resume” that consists merely of a meaningless conviction for something no one thinks is an actual crime.

Well, if they want to win, then yes. They should.

It’s funny that you don’t get why your precious Democrats lost. Trump had incredible name recognition and charisma. His blunt style appealed the the lower and middle classes who are absolutely sick to death of illegal immigration, government corruption, and do-nothing politicians.

And all you have as a counter is whining and empty suits like “Mayor Pete.”

“I have a sense that he wanted to spend more time with his family..” He did that for four years, how could he get any more time other than retiring?

nope. society needs to roll back acceptance of sinful lifestyle choices, not celebrate them.

pete is unqualified

Do it Dems, Do it. Butti and Walz 2028.

I can see the ads now. Buttplug in bed with his husband, “nursing” the babies that they had just bought, while container ships picked up at the LA and Long Beach ports, out on maternity leave, so he couldn’t respond to the transportation crisis. Pretty much every member of Trump’s Cabinet, along with Trump and Vance, are more manly than Buttplug.

Buttigieg as President would lead to widespread sharing of As Good As It Gets “Don’t come knocking”

Newsome would make obama look like a conservative. At least he is smart enough to start pretending he is normal with his new faux position of allowing brush clearing and being against men in womens sports.

Buttigieg vs Vance would definitely be a choice for America. My wife had Buttigieg’s father as an English professor in the 1980s. He was an avowed and incredibly outspoken Marxist and would often make very political comments while teaching…a literature class. By today’s standards, that’s routine in college classrooms. But, back in the day, it was unusual. Even though a nominal Catholic, I’m told he was remarkably hostile to organized religion of any kind but particularly Christian/Catholic theology. That’s remarkable because he was teaching at a Catholic university at the time.

It’s interesting that while his son has made some superficial effort to distance himself from the jarring political opinions held so deeply by his father, at his core, he has embraced the most socialist aspects of the new Democrat party. While Mayor Pete would like people to think otherwise, it’s clear he obviously didn’t fall far from his father’s tree.

“He was an avowed and incredibly outspoken Marxist”

(sigh) They ALWAYS ARE. What is it with Democrats? Marxists make up a tiny fraction of a tiny fraction of the population, but it’s like they’re always either the parents or the mentors of Democrats. The father of Kamala Harris. The mentor (and possible father) of Barack Obama. The dad of Pete Buttigieg. There always seems to be some major Marxist influence in the lives of each of these scumbags.

Don’t throw me in that briar patch.

Buttigieg is gay but…he’s a white male.

That will be a tough sell to the Party’s genocidal base. If he were trans it might be acceptable, but mere gay is boring.

I believe Dems’ brains began to short circuit during the Obama/Clinton primary. They had a choice between supporting Obama and being misogynists, or supporting Clinton and being racists. It created an internal conflict similar to that of Robbie the Robot’s reaction when he was commanded to shoot a human being, except there was nobody around who could tell the Dems to stand down. So their brains fried. Mentally, it’s been all downhill for them since then.

Such a deep bench of totally qualified people.

Pothole WEF Pete vs Timy Dancer Emanuel. One could almost sell tickets to this throwdown.

So when did you make your first billion? Was it before or after being elected twice as President?

      irishgladiator63 in reply to tjv1156. | March 13, 2025 at 6:48 pm

Then why is Trump president and both of them are… nothing?

Evil Otto in reply to tjv1156. | March 14, 2025 at 7:01 am

By all means, Democrat troll, keep underestimating Trump. That’s worked out so well for your party so far, hasn’t it?

Like most of your ilk you confuse IQ with “correct political beliefs.” Trump has been beating you assholes like rented mules and yet you still think he’s stupid.

Gay. One step above trans ,blacks ,and Mexicans in MAGA world! LAFFRIOT

Fake laughs do not hide your cultish anger.

Don’t laugh too hard, jv. You might spill that nice blue kool-aid all over your democratic socialist catechism. Then, how would you know what to think or say!

    Milhouse in reply to tjv1156. | March 14, 2025 at 4:12 am

Yeah, it’s really funny what a stupid view you have of what you call “MAGA world”. You think we’re bothered by gays, blacks, Mexicans, or even trans adults who behave like adults.

SeekingRationalThought | March 13, 2025 at 4:42 pm

And all the “progressive” cretins will line up and say, “Please, Sir, I want some more.” At which point James “The Snake” Carville will hit them up the side of the head with a label. But the “progressives” will still want some more. Imbeciles.

I’ve heard this from leftists as the future for them and their candidate.

A low energy vanilla do nothing is their best option.
