NYC Deputy Mayors Deserting Eric Adams Over His Willingness to Work With Trump on Illegal Immigration

“Due to the extraordinary events of the last few weeks and to stay faithful to the oaths we swore to New Yorkers and our families, we have come to the difficult decision to step down from our roles”

People in the inner circle of New York City politics are abandoning Mayor Eric Adams over his willingness to work with the Trump administration to address illegal immigration. Four deputy mayors have indicated their intent to quit over this issue.

Who do you suppose comes off looking more out of touch with the public on this? Adams, or the people who are willing to walk away from their jobs over the enforcement of American immigration law?

From Politico:

Mass resignations from Eric Adams’ administration spark chaos in NYC government

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration is falling apart, as four deputy mayors have signaled their intent to resign Monday over concerns about the Democratic mayor’s handling of immigration matters.

First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer, who effectively runs the government, Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams-Isom, Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Chauncey Parker all plan to step down, Adams’ office confirmed.

The mayor in a statement praised the departing officials and said they would remain in their current roles to ensure a “seamless transition.”…

Torres-Springer, Williams-Isom and Joshi in a joint statement praised the “incredible public servants” at City Hall, but also referenced the expanding crisis facing their boss.

“Due to the extraordinary events of the last few weeks and to stay faithful to the oaths we swore to New Yorkers and our families, we have come to the difficult decision to step down from our roles,” they said.

The Hill has a statement from Eric Adams:

In a statement to The Hill, Adams said he was “disappointed” to see the officials leave their posts, but understands their decision “given the current challenges.”

“Let me be crystal clear: New York City will keep moving forward, just as it does every day. All deputy mayors will remain in their roles for the time being to ensure a seamless transition. The people of New York City remain, without question, our top priority,” Adams said. “I am solely beholden to the 8.3 million New Yorkers I represent, and I will always put this city first — as I always have.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul said she will meet with key City Hall leaders “for a conversation about the path forward.”

“I recognize the immense responsibility I hold as governor and the constitutional powers granted to this office,” Hochul said. “In the 235 years of New York State history, these powers have never been utilized to remove a duly-elected mayor; overturning the will of the voters is a serious step that should not be taken lightly.”

The development comes after federal prosecutors were ordered by a top Department of Justice (DOJ) official to dismiss corruption charges against Adams, who has gotten close with Trump in recent months.

Some people on the left in NYC are now trying to remove Adams from office.

What’s happening here is very easy to break down. The people who are abandoning Adams want ‘Resistance 2.0’ and instead they’re getting Eric Adams appearing on FOX News with Trump ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan.

If the left somehow manages to oust Adams, who do they suppose they’re going to get to replace him? Do the people of New York City really believe they’ll be better off with more illegal immigration and a city continuing to go broke as it pays millions for illegal aliens in hotels?

The left continues to refuse to learn the lessons of the 2024 election.

Some days the swamp just drains itself

These Deputy Mayors must have received orders from on high. If Kathy Hochul going to use her power to remove Adams, why have the Deputies resign?

Kathy, it’s a big mistake to think Trump and the Justice Department are toothless tigers.

Democracy now! Adams is elected.

Hochul: Nice democracy you got there. It’d be a shame if something happened to it.

Trump is H!tler!

I’m so sick of these people…

NY voters have been able to loudly signal their virtue, while the taxpayers of the other 49 States were forced to pay the costs. Perhaps it’s time for NY legislators to raise taxes sufficiently to cover the costs of such boundless virtue. That may affect their future voting preferences.

If Democrats are not afraid to remove Adams in favor of illegals then New Yorkers better wake up and ask why said Democrats are so brazen about ignoring “voting preferences”.

“Democracy now!”
You probably know about the leftist organization Democracy Now!. In the comment sections of videos on its website, many people (I’m one of them) have been calling out DN’s hypocritical condemnations of Doge.

Adams is finished and he’ll be lucky to get out alive. A wise man who doesn’t want to go down with him gets off the ship NOW.

Tammany Hall never forgets or forgives traitors.

I mean it doesn’t -always- end that way, but that’s the way to bet – especially if you’re betting your life in NYC.

This is a difficult one. Adams is a shameless crook that Trump is keeping out of jail so he can follow orders. Who’s next, Bob Menendez?

New York and California. A race to the bottom.

“to stay faithful to the oaths we swore to New Yorkers and our families”

Thieves’ oaths — those are the ones important to them.

“In the 235 years of New York State history, these powers have never been utilized to remove a duly-elected mayor; overturning the will of the voters is a serious step that should not be taken lightly.”

I smell a BOGO offer in Trump’s email today.

Speculation: If Adams is cooperating with DOJ then Hochul should stay far away from this and punt. It could well be a trap to drag her in front of a grand jury.

The fascinating part of all of this is that this afternoon, a Manhattan federal court judge, Dale Ho, is holding a hearing Wednesday over the DOJ’s decision to quash Adams’ criminal case and hinted in a filing that the motion to dismiss the charges wasn’t a done deal. Okay, who then is going to prosecute the case? A special counsel? Appointed by whom?

So, they love rapists and murderers so much that they’re willing to quit their jobs to protect them. Interesting

When you come for the King, you best not miss. I don’t know what Trump had planned for this 4 years, but I suspect that it changed on July 13th. Dems haven’t yet figured out that they are playing chicken with a guy who stopped giving a fuck 6 months ago. As for me, my gums are bleeding from way too much popcorn. It takes me until 10AM just catch up with the fallout from what the Donald did the previous day. At this rate, there may be a lot of open seats by midterms. Who thinks AOC would survive an audit?

Adams is pure poison.
We shouldn’t have anything to do with him.

There are currently two ways to remove Adams: Hochul can file charges against him or a committee can declare him unable to carry out his mayoral functions. Neither has ever been done.

I suggest a third move that, if I were Adams, I’d make. I would call for a citywide referendum on me inviting a recall if the majority thought I wasn’t acting in their best interests. If I got voted out, so be it. If I didn’t, then Hochul will have been defanged, and the committee would be acting against the peoples’ wills to pursue it.

Piece of cake.
