Left-Wing Media and Activists Swoon Over Accused Healthcare Exec. Murderer During Valentine’s Week
In a week meant for celebrating love, left-wing media and activists on X and TikTok were busy romanticizing an accused murderer.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins stirred controversy after sharing a defense fund for accused murderer Luigi Mangione—only to quietly delete the post after public backlash.
Mangione, charged with the brutal killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has become a cause célèbre for some on the left, raising serious questions about media responsibility and the impulse to defend the indefensible.

In the post on X, Collins showed a link to a new website launched by defense lawyers for Mangione, who faces charges of first-degree murder in furtherance of an act of terrorism, stalking and other state and federal charges in New York and Pennsylvania for allegedly gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan on Dec. 4, 2024.
Critics were quick to point out that one of Mangione’s attorneys is a CNN contributor—raising ethical concerns—while Collins deleted the tweet without explanation or apology:

Meanwhile, after receiving over $400,000 from online supporters, Mangione released a public “love letter” to his fans through his defense website, as reported by Newsweek:
“I am overwhelmed by—and grateful for—everyone who has written me to share their stories and express their support. Powerfully, this support has transcended political, racial, and even class divisions, as mail has flooded MDC from across the country, and around the globe.”
Though he admitted he couldn’t respond to every message, he assured supporters:
“I read every one that I receive. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future.”
Gross.

They act like they are Murrows and Cronkites, when they now achieve fame not through craft, but privilege. What has Kaitlan Collins, or any of these people, truly experienced in life that she can pretend to know so much about it? They deserve the criticism they get.

If someone working at CNN or one of the other major media outlets tweeted a link to a defense fund for Derek Chauvin, would the length of time it would take for that person to be fired and forever shunned by any media organization be measured in: Weeks, Days or Minutes?
Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible because (I believe) all the major crowd-funding sites forbade any funds for Chauvin and his co-defendants.

He’s not getting the world of trouble he is in. He still thinks of himself as some kind of hero. Is he going for the insanity defense? I wonder if his parents aren’t providing any funds for his defense, so he has to resort to crowd funding.
IMO Collins should be banned from the White House and CNN warned that their apparent acceptance of this is very borderline. As Karoline Leavitt noted, she has thousands of applications for seats at the press briefings.

Pretty common fantasy for certain females to be enthralled by the ‘dangerous bad boy’. Might be expressed in past years through romance novels/movies about the wicked Pirate or a Scottish Highlander/rebel. For modern audiences it’s serial killers and a Bondage Billionaire in 50 Shades of Grey; that sold 15 million copies in the first decade after publication …and that only counts the first book in the series, not follow up trilogy or films.
The perp is actually achieving his goal with the main street media portraying the evil murder as a hero.
If anything, the press coverage encourages copycat murders.
We need to find Kat her own assassin to love. They can snuggle up in front of a fireplace and plan how to sneak up on unsuspecting targets to kill them, They can spend endless hours discussing various ways to kill a human being, giggling and whispering obscenities. It’s a match she deserves.
