Dem Political Resistance to Trump 2.0 Focused On Fighting Highly-Popular Policies
What is wrong with this picture?

Most of Democrat Resistance to Trump is taking place in the courts. That’s perhaps because politically Democrats are homeless – excuse me, experiencing homelessness. The Democrat political response is to scream about policies that are highly popular, as a recent Marquette poll showed:
A new Marquette Law School Poll national survey finds substantial majorities support some of President Donald Trump’s early initiatives, while equally substantial majorities oppose others of his policies.
Here are Trump’s executive orders, among those covered in the poll, garnering favorable support:
- The federal government’s recognizing only two sexes, male and female, is supported by 63% and opposed by 37%.
- Asked about deporting immigrants in the United States illegally, 60% are in favor and 40% are opposed.
- Similarly, 60% favor expanding oil and gas production.
- And 59% favor declaring a national emergency due to migrant crossings at the southern border.
Conversely, here are executive orders with majority unfavorability:
- A majority, 57%, oppose deporting immigrants who have been in the in the United States illegally for a number of years, have jobs, and no criminal record, while 43% favor deportation in this circumstance.
- A larger majority, 65%, oppose Trump’s announcement in his inaugural address that the United States will take back the Panama Canal, while 35% favor this.
- The pardon of all January 6 defendants is opposed by 65% and favored by 34%.
- Renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America is opposed by 71% and favored by 29%.
Democrat House leader Hakeem Jeffries was questioned about the popularity of Trump’s key agenda items.
Hakeem Jeffries left grasping for a response after ABC's Jon Karl reads off massive favorability numbers for Trump:
“Donald Trump's favorability rating is HIGHER than it ever was the first time around.”

Those poll numbers give us good news for Trump, but bad news for America. Thirty seven percent believe in more than two sexes! We become aware of the binary nature of life from a very early age. This duality appears all around us. Walk down the street and you see men and women paired off. I have no trouble with (say) 10%, however 37% indicates widespread delusion.
“Thirty seven percent believe in more than two sexes!”
That’s not quite what Professor Jacobson said. According to him, those 37% oppose the Fed govt’s recognition that there are only two sexes.
Nit picking. A distinction with little difference. Here is the question the poll asked:
Recognize only male and female sexes: “Do you favor or oppose President Trump’s executive order requiring federal agencies to recognize biological sex as male or female only, eliminate references to gender identity in policies, and require federal documents, such as passports, to reflect biological sex, not gender identity?”
I suppose there are people who believe in only two sexes, who nevertheless don’t want the US federal government to recognize that fact. In other words, they want the government to participate in a delusion. In my opinion that’s a problem too. Perhaps even worse.
“Nitpicking; distinction w/o a difference”
Not necessarily, especially considering the specific question that was asked. People who do believe that there are only two sexes (male and female) might, at the same time, have a good-faith objection to implementing a Federal requirement to that effect via executive orders.
For that, they’d have to believe themselves or it wouldn’t be an issue they oppose.
I don’t believe that poll, the approval numbers are much higher
They’re not even polling ‘Registered Voters’ much less ‘Likely Voters.’ They’re only polling ‘Adults,’ a category that includes anyone with a phone including aliens, legal or illegal. It’s impossible to say how inaccurate the poll is. But, a 5-point difference between ‘Adults’ and ‘Likely Voters’ is very possible.
The wrong in the picture is the numbers are too low.
Notice the sub-header: “Among Adults”
At this rate Democrats will have to start fighting each other. That should poll pretty well.
Sunday! Sunday!! Sundaaaaay!!!
For the last 15 years, Democrats have elevated utter lunacy and they can’t put the genie back in the bottle. Let that party burn to the ground.
And then P on the ashes.
The problem is that (1) a considerable number of Democrats are willing to burn the whole country to the ground, and (2) those Dems have foreign backers who want that, too.
Yeah, and? We always knew we’d have to fight those lunatics eventually. The question is whether 1) we fight them now through the government and legal system, or 2) later with guns and Madame Guillotine. I prefer #1. If Trump can knock their funding out from under them, if he can reform the government then the ones willing to burn the country down will be an easy to deal with tiny minority.
I suspect that when all of the tsunami of Dem crimes are exposed and prosecuted, that the party will be so tarnished that they will cease to exist.
I ‘ll toss out a couple of personal opinions which others are free to disagree with –
I don’t think Trump gives a good goddamn about the Gulf Of America except for its psychological usefulness. First it announces that America is a Great Power®️ and indifferent to the opinions of lesser countries. Don’t like it? Too bad. Oh, and obviously it shows Trump as a crazy who is perfectly willing to do extreme things. Ask Columbia, Mexico, and Canada about that.
Second it is an easy way to enrage the press and the more they attack Trump the sillier they look: all these things happening and AP is fixated on an imaginary title for a body of water. Note that the name is totally irrelevant for business or navigation purposes. It’s as harmless as renaming a cloud but AP is pissed about it.
The Panama Canal: I like to think I can comment here from a position of well, not knowledge but at least exposure. I spent some years there before the return of the canal. The concern is not ownership per se but control of the canal. The Chinese have (had) control of the major port facilities at each end of the canal. Further, they have been exerting great influence over the infamously easily-bribed and corrupt Panamanian politicians* through Chinese infrastructure investment complete with kickbacks. The strategic value of the canal is still as high as it was in 1914. America is not well served if the Chinese control it.
Third – the canal was set up as a completely politically and financially isolated system. The government of the country -should not- have any impact on the operation, maintenance, or expansion of the canal. The fees paid by ships should stay entirely in the canal system and pay for all needs of the canal. However…. did you know that the canal takes (took?) no checks or bank transfers? Ships pay cash and in USD. Period. So, you literally have billions in cash floating around from thousands and thousands of cash transactions every year. Accounting must be an obsession or bits of cash can flake off and disappear. How could anyone know? Frankly in a country as corrupt as Panama the flaking no doubt has been growing every year since the return. As a result, the canal will eventually begin to crumble as the Chinese canal maintenance contractors do shoddier and shoddier work to compensate for the growing bribes to get the contract, or the work doesn’t get done at all.
Finally to the point: Trump has largely accomplished what he needs with merely a threat, once again. The government of Panama is dumping the Chinese and they’re going to straighten up and fly right..for at least a few years, anyhow.
*Corruption in Panama – Panama City is filled apartment towers – in the dozens. They’re all empty but every apartment pays its rent in cash every month. WTF? A mystery? Nah. Let’s say you’re a giant drug cartel with mountains of cash. You can’t just dump it in a bank. However, you can launder it by pretending it’s been received as rent money. The government looks away as long as they get the taxes..and a bit on the side.
Corruption is at every level in Panama and nothing is too petty to be worth shaving off a profit. Example? Well the Vice President of the Country got busted for smuggling Rolexes a few years ago. The VP …in such a petty hustle.
As an added bonus democrats won’t be able to stop themselves from campaigning against the name in the next election. Vance will be able to beat them over the head with their desire to rename something named after America. And they have no real reason to switch it back beyond their hatred of America and Orange Man Bad.
America is a Great Power®️ and indifferent to the opinions of lesser countries. Don’t like it? Too bad.”
One more reason why, to many, many people in the world, destroying America sounds like an excellent idea.
The percentage of respondents who disapproved of renaming the Gulf of Mexico (71%) was higher than the percentage who approved of expanding production of oil & gas.
So what?
Which means only that they’re as easily trolled as you are. Success!
“America is a Great Power®️ and indifferent to the opinions of lesser countries. Don’t like it? Too bad.”
That’s the attitude that got us into multiple, disastrous regime-change wars, including the conflict in Ukraine.
Sorry; I meant to post that comment as a reply to “Hodge | February 17, 2025 at 10:13 am”.
A 0-3 upvote/downvote score on such an innocuous post. Hmmm …
It’s because we can’t stand you and your constant concern trolling. You do nothing else here.
Easily bluffed by the master.
The pardon of all January 6 defendants is opposed by 65% and favored by 34%.
The public has really been gaslit on this issue.
Yes.
Interesting. Maxmillion’s post has (as of this writing) an “upvote/downvote” score of 5-0. My post, which agrees with Maxmillion’s, has a score of 0-2.
It’s the scarlet A.
Well, come on. if you can gaslight a third of the people that there are more than two sexes, how much more can you gaslight them on a subject for which you control 99% of the evidence, what they can see and what they must never see?
How about a poll of US citizens who legally immigrated. I think their opinion would count very highly.
