Class Dismissed: Trump & Musk Target Department of Education

Trump’s first weeks back in office make one thing clear—his mission to dismantle and overhaul the federal bureaucracy is well underway.

His playbook is simple: grant the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) access to an agency, expose financial waste, and cut aggressively—eliminating excess spending and personnel, leaving the agency in ruin.

USAID, it seems, was just the beginning.

After uncovering massive waste there, Trump and Elon Musk have now set their sights on their next target: the Department of Education. Trump has vowed to eliminate the department, but first, he intends to expose the waste.

Elon Musk’s DOGE team has secured “administrator” email accounts at the Department of Education, just as President Trump announced that Musk will be taking a closer look at the agency.

NBC continues:

One longtime employee at the Department of Education who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe internal sentiments said there is an urgent and deep worry sweeping across the agency’s career staff as DOGE sets its sights on them.

It looks like there’s a new sheriff in town, and Democrats are panicking.

On Friday morning, a group of House Democrats attempted to enter the Education Department headquarters to meet with acting Education Secretary Denise Carter after 95 signed a letter expressing concern about the administration’s plans to possibly try to close the department. The representatives were stopped by security and denied entry, sparking a chaotic scene as lawmakers clamored to get in.

This follows similar scenes earlier this week at USAID.

It seems Trump, Musk, and DOGE have caught Democrats off guard with the fury and intensity of their mission. And despite Schumer’s confident assurances a the protests earlier this week, the only response Democrats seem to have left is mobs and angry words.
