CBS’s Nancy Cordes admitted that former President Joe Biden’s administration knew that Ukraine would have to surrender some of its territory to end the war with Russia.
“Privately, even Biden officials often acknowledged that Ukraine would ultimately have to give up some territory in order to secure a deal to end the war, though those Biden officials usually avoided saying that out loud. Trump officials say they’re just being realistic three years into this invasion in order to drive both sides to the bargaining table.”
The slip is significant because Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told NATO that Ukraine regaining its “pre-204 borders is an unrealistic objective.”
Of course, the left and the media used Hegseth’s words as proof that President Donald Trump is Russia’s stooge.
No. Trump’s administration has no problem saying the hard truths out loud.
Russia “annexed” Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, about a month after Kyiv ousted “President” Viktor Yanukovych, a literal Putin puppet.
I used quotes around annexed because no one will ever convince me the vote was clean and fair.
Anyway, many of the Russian-speaking towns in the east erupted when Yanukovych left, giving Russia an excuse to move in and take over. Granted, who knows if the eruption and demands to leave Ukraine were organic or orchestrated by Russia.
