In a major sign of where things are headed in the coming months, Facebook/Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company is dropping its current DEI policies.
People are interpreting this as an indication of how things are changing now that a second Trump administration is about to take power and that is probably correct.
The New York Post reported:
Meta, Amazon ditch DEI programs as tech giants move away from ‘woke’ agendaMeta and Amazon reportedly killed their DEI programs in recent days – moves that come as both Big Tech giants attempt to cozy up to President-elect Donald Trump. On Friday, Meta – the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Threads – said it will no longer take the controversial Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies into consideration before hiring, training and picking suppliers, Axios reported.According to a memo sent by Janelle Gale, vice president of human resources, she said the company is pivoting away from DEI because the “legal and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the United States is changing.”A Meta spokesperson reached by The Post confirmed the memo, which was first obtained by Axios.Meta’s about-face came just days after CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that his company would scrap censoring free speech on its popular social media platforms. Both Zuckerberg and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos have recently met with Trump as part of an ongoing thaw in once-frosty relations between the Republican and the tech industry.
Zuckerberg appears to be serious about this and has even removed the tampons from the men’s rooms.
Podcaster Tim Pool, who is a Trump supporter, is still a bit skeptical about Zuckerberg’s change of heart. He talked about it with Jesse Watters of FOX News last night. Watch:
On a related note, Zuckerberg just appeared on the Joe Rogan Podcast and made some shocking claims about the Biden administration and online censorship.
NBC News reports:
Mark Zuckerberg says Biden officials would ‘scream’ and ‘curse’ when seeking removal of Facebook contentOn an episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” released Friday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg painted a picture of Biden administration officials berating Facebook staff during requests to remove certain content from the social media platform.”Basically, these people from the Biden administration would call up our team and, like, scream at them and curse,” Zuckerberg told podcast host and comedian Joe Rogan. “It just got to this point where we were like, ‘No, we’re not gonna, we’re not gonna take down things that are true. That’s ridiculous.'”The White House did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment about Zuckerberg’s remarks.

The ground is shifting quickly. It’s difficult to imagine how different things are going to look a year from now.
