Israel Confirms Hostage Deal Reached With Hamas

Israel Confirms Hostage Deal Reached With Hamas

Trump on Truth Social: “We have a deal.”

Fifteen months after the horrific attacks of October 7, 2023, a deal has been reached for the release of Israeli hostages languishing in Hamas captivity. “Senior Hamas official Basem Naim confirms to reporters that the terror group has accepted a ceasefire and hostage release deal with Israel,” The Times of Israel reported Wednesday afternoon.

President-elect Donald Trump announced the agreement on Truth Social. “We have a deal,” he declared, adding that the hostages “will be release shortly.”

The Associated Press reported the details:

Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza and the release dozens of hostages after more than 15 months of war. (…)

Israel announced late Wednesday that Hamas had tried to change agreed-upon understandings for security arrangements along Gaza’s border with Egypt. It strongly rejected the proposals.

Qatar’s prime minister, who has been mediating the talks, met separately with Hamas and Israeli delegations, and shortly afterwards, the dispute was resolved, the Qatari official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss behind-the-scenes negotiations.

The Hamas official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the matter was resolved.

The Biden White House also issued a statement welcoming to agreement:

Under the agreed framework, Israel will withdraw its ground troops from Gaza in phases. This will allow Gaza residents, and worryingly, the Hamas terrorists, to move across the enclave unchecked.

The Israeli news website YNET reported that “the first phase of the agreement will last for six weeks and include a gradual withdrawal of IDF troops from central Gaza and the return of displaced Gaza residents to the northern areas of the Strip.”

This hostages-for-terrorists deal will reportedly lead to the release of a large number of Palestinian terrorists, including convicted murderers. “Hamas will release 33 hostages including all of the women, IDF soldiers among them, the two Bibas children and men over the age of 50,” the news outlet added.

Just like in the past, Hamas cannot be trusted to keep its part of the deal. The terrorist group made new demands at the final stages of the negotiations. In late November 2023, Hamas broke a similar hostages-for-terrorists deal, ambushing Israeli troops in Gaza and staging a deadly terrorist attack in Jerusalem.

The Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported Hamas’s bid to extract more last-minute concessions from Israel:

According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s office, “In the face of Benjamin Netanyahu’s firmness, Hamas has withdrawn its last-minute request concerning the redeployment of forces on the Philadelphia axis.”

The statement, however, specifies that “several points still remain to be finalized in the agreement” and that the details should be settled during the night.

Israeli government will formally endorse the deal after deliberations on Thursday morning. Prime Minister Netanyahu-led “security cabinet will meet tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. to approve the ceasefire and hostage release agreement,” the i24NEWS disclosed in a separate report Wednesday.

    How so?

Trump pressured Israel to formally surrender on Hamas remaining the government of Gaza and getting unlimited control of Gaza it had before the war started.

Do not fool yourself Israel went to war to get the hostages back and extirpate Hamas from Gaza at minimum, and got a fraction of the hostages taken (note the corpses that are being returned in later phases).

Israel had to be heavily pressured by Trump to agree to Hamas winning which it without doubt did.

If Hamas is dumb enough to break the agreement Israel gets another shot at eliminating them but nobody is that stupid.

The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity, so yeah–they are dumb enough to break the agreement. It’s all in the timing. Never changes, and yet we keep falling for it.

I’m just not seeing it. October 7th style attacks are what they want (they say so themselves) and what they actually try to achieve (again according to themselves).

If they violate a ceasefire now they will end up being eliminated and never having the opportunity again, losing their fiefdom, and losing the billions in international dollars shoveled into them each year.

I do agree Arab states have historically made horrible decisions against their interests for ideological reasons (or in some case just not wanting to end up murdered like the king of Jordan) but the degree of stupidity that would be involved here is just too hard a sell for me to see happening.

Are you kidding me? This is what they do like clockwork…have you paid attention to anything that Hamas or Hezbollah has done before Oct 7th?

Hamas has unlimited control of Gaza from about 2006. Long before Trump.

Because Trump isn’t even President and Hamas gave in! Imagine if Biden had been more concerned about Americans imprisoned by Hamas than he was about retaining Muslim voters!

Had Biden shown balls from the very beginning the hostages may still be alive. But he didn’t and they died.

So go sit back down sweetie as it’s going to be a very long 12-16 years before another Democrat gets a shot at the White House! Pace yourself darling 😂😂

Hamas did not give in. It survives to fight another day, which Netanyahu swore up and down it would never be allowed to do. It gets to keep hostages for some time; the only acceptable release deal is release them all, at once.

And worst of all it gets to be the people’s hero by achieving the release of over 1000 bloodthirsty terrorists, which guarantees it will win any election that is held.

The koran allows them to make a treaty with infidels for up to 10 yrs (I think but it may be 7) as long as you use the time to rebuild, rearm and prepare to attack again at the end of the treaty. So that is what they are doing. 10 yrs will take them past Trump and the next president. Generally after 2 terms of republicans the public asks why we need to do those things, the economy is good again, let more people in, everyone forgets the 4 Biden yrs and votes to repeat it. Then Hamas will attack again.

On the contrary, Trump forced Israel to agree to BIden’s awful proposal. That’s giving Biden an undeserved victory.

Netanyahu is responsible for the awful Shalit deal that directly led to the 2023 massacre. All the thousand plus who were killed on that day, plus the over a thousand soldiers who have been lost in this war, are his fault.

And now he will be responsible for the hundreds or thousands who will be killed as a result of this deal. And so will Trump.

The very act of negotiating with Hamas and treating it as a legitimate actor is a victory for it. And allowing it to continue to exist and hold power, or compete for power, is a key component of Biden’s proposal which Trump has now given him a win on.

The Allies could have had peace with Germany in 1944 if they’d been willing to do such deals, but they had the strength of character to fight another year in order to achieve complete victory and destroy the evil.

Releasing those terrorists without passing them through a radiological screening is a huge mistake.

I have read that this is the deal offered by Israel last May.

Given that all of Gaza is Hamas, other than relocating the entire population it isn’t clear what the choice for Israel is. Hopefully Israel will ban terrorist-allied organizations like UNRWA from operating in Gaza and continuing the indoctrination of children into eternal jihad/genocide..

Israel better take control of the Egyptian border though. Even forcing regime change in Iran won’t be sufficient with an Islamist Turkey now ascendent.

Nobody should trust Hamas to live up to their agreement here

Come Monday it is a different world thanks to the American people saying enough is enough to Democrats.

As we know, elections have consequences and for Hamas that means no more friendly Democrats in the WH and no more support from the UN (being rubber stamped by Biden). The game is over for Hamas and their backers in Qatar and Iran.

Hamas no longer has support from Iran and no longer has cover from Hesbullah and the funniest thing is Hamas only has itself to blame for this monumental shift in power in the Middle East 😂

Hamas is Gaza and Gaza is Hamas. Any attempt to ignore that will just mean that another 10/7 is coming.

Any answers other than throwing out the Arabs or Israel accepting more decades of vile terror attacks?

Y’all don’t get excited. The Hamas savages will be unable to help themselves. Their behavior is their nature. They will violate the cease fire, giving Israel an opening wide enough to sail an aircraft carrier through to resume pounding Gaza into dust. They’ve done it before. Is there a reason to think they’ll stop now?

I wonder if Israel will bulldoze a no mans land a kilometer or two wide inside the Gaza border so they can spot movement. Seeding that area with vibration sensors to detect underground burrowing would be a good idea, too.
.

Perhaps once the hostage matter is over, Israel will have more free rein.

Perhaps once the Abraham Accords resume, there will be greater pressure on Palestinians to get with the program.

The point is, who knows where this goes, although some act as if they know it all.

In order to that assure the criminals Israel is releasing back to Hamas are in good health, Israel should make sure all 1300 of them are current with their vaccinations, including all of the COVID boosters, plus any other mRNA substances that Pfizer and Moderna are trying to get rid of.

Terrible deal. A surrender to Hamas who will regroup and attack again when they build back up. Israel gets 33 hostages back while while Hamas get around 1,000 terrorists, cutthroats, murders … How is this any kind of a reasonable exchange? Did Trump bully Israel? Is this the “art of the deal.”

The best solution for Israel is the total elimination of Arabs from Gaza. Either expel them, or annihilate them. Israel gets falsely accused of genocide all the time. Well time to show the world what a real genocide looks like. Would the US have accepted anything like this to end WWII? No we wanted unconditional surrender no matter how many Germans or Japanese we killed. We backed up the threat with nuclear weapons.

I have about had it with Trump. I suspect we are getting old wine in new bottles. I will wait and see and give him a chance. Musk and Ramaswamy have insulted the US calling American tech workers inferior to Indians. Meanwhile Tesla lays off American tech workers and hires more H-1Bs. Musk has a conflict of interest. Meanwhile Trump lies to us about always being in favor of h-1Bs.

Oh good, it’s good to see that the Israelis still haven’t learned their lessons when dealing with Arab terrorists and will now engage in yet another pointless “ceasefire” giving Hamas and its supporters time to regroup and rearm before continuing hostilities against Israel and the Jews.

I give this “ceasefire” less than a year before Hamas violates the “ceasefire” and starts their terroristic shenanigans once again. Guaranteed.
