Hakeem Jeffries Revives ‘We Don’t Believe in Election Denial’ Lie During House Speaker Vote Session

Democrats are notorious for being good at things that few would brag about being good at, and one of those is being guilty of things that they often accuse their political opponents of doing.

On Friday, not long after Republicans voted to keep Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) as the House Speaker, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) took to the podium to give a speech.

In it, he thanked Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for all he said they’d done while in office. He also talked about things he believes Democrats will do in the 119th Congress and remarked about what he believed the party was and wasn’t.

One thing they weren’t, he proclaimed, was “election deniers”:

Two months ago, the American people elected Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America. Thank you for that very generous applause. It’s okay. There are no election deniers on our side of the aisle. One should love America—One should love America when you win and when you lose. That’s the patriotic thing to do and that’s the America that House Democrats will fight hard to preserve, because we love this country.

Watch:

It’s an argument Jeffries has made several times before, including after the November elections when he made the following statement in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s victory over Harris:

I am proud that the Democratic Party does not believe in election denial. Our Democracy is precious and it involves elevating public trust in our system of free and fair elections, not undermining it.We cannot love America only when we win.The American people have spoken. I congratulate President-elect Donald J. Trump.

It’s also an argument, of course, that isn’t true – starting with Jeffries himself, who repeatedly questioned the legitimacy of the 2016 presidential election while Trump was in office.

The receipts are voluminous:

And as Legal Insurrection readers know, it’s not just Jeffries. It’s the whole lot of them, with twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton leading the pack.

Here’s a quick montage:

And here’s more:

In the summer of 2020, she was openly saying Joe Biden should not concede the election “under any circumstances”:

And let us not forget the twice-failed Georgia Democrat gubernatorial nominee, Stacey Abrams, repeatedly engaging in election denialism:

There’s even a 24-minute video out there of Democrats including Clinton and many others calling into question election results:

There are many Democrats out there today who cut their teeth on George W. Bush’s election victory over Al Gore in 2000, an election that many of them to this day still believe was stolen.

Terry McAuliffe, in fact, openly talked about it during his failed Virginia gubernatorial bid in 2021:

As we’ve seen with Clinton, Abrams, McAuliffe, Jeffries, and many others on the left, remember that questioning the results of an election and casting doubts about its legitimacy (and in some cases even taking legal action) is (D)ifferent when Democrats do it. Every single time.
