The FBI is investigating threats against SpaceX’s Starship launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, raising alarms about the safety of critical infrastructure essential to American innovation and leadership in space exploration. Under Elon Musk’s leadership, SpaceX has become a symbol of private sector ingenuity, driving advancements in technology while cutting through bureaucratic inefficiency.
Adding fuel to the fire is Musk’s connection to incoming President Donald Trump, whose administration is poised to reignite policies prioritizing America’s greatness over Biden’s lack of leadership. Musk, a staunch advocate for entrepreneurial freedom, previously worked with Trump during his first term, and their shared commitment to cutting red tape and empowering the private sector has left bureaucrats and naysayers scrambling.
More from the San Antonio Statesmen:
“While we are working to carefully vet and investigate the information we have received, we want to reiterate that the safety and security of the American people is the FBI’s highest concern,” the FBI statement said. “We will continue to work closely with our law enforcement and private sector partners to respond to this — and all threats against any of our citizens.”
This is not the first threat they have faced. The Statesmen continues:
The recent threats are at least the second bomb threat against Starbase. On Dec. 27, 2023, an unidentified person called in a bomb threat to the SpaceX facility from a Brownsville Police Department nonemergency phone line, according to the deputy’s report. In that incident, the suspect said, “the bomb was on a rocket, and then advised it was on a space ship.”
The threats against Starbase don’t seem random. They feel like a calculated strike against Musk’s success and willingness to work with incoming President Trump. This has painted a target on Elon’s back.
