Bishop Gives Trump, Vance Woke Lecture on Immigrants: ‘The People Who Pick Our Crops’

“….clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals.”

Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde tried to lecture President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance about sexuality and immigration. Instead, she showed us once again how leftists truly feel about immigrants: picking crops and cleaning buildings.

Melania Trump and Usha Vance shot daggers at her with their eyes. I mean, Melania is an immigrant. Usha’s parents came over here the right way in the 1980s.

Trump mostly kept his composure. Vance, though, didn’t hold back, and it’s priceless.

Budde said:

In the name of our God, I ask you, to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and independent families. Some who fear for their lots.

And the people…the people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals.

They may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes, and our good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues, wadara [sp?] and temples.

They’re called guest workers, and they’re seasonal. The go back to Mexico each year.

    Obie1 in reply to rhhardin. | January 21, 2025 at 2:18 pm

That used to be the case, and the population of such workers was relatively small. Now there are millions who don’t do any of those jobs and who never leave.

    steves59 in reply to rhhardin. | January 21, 2025 at 5:17 pm

They’re called illegal aliens, and they’re year round. They stay here each year and won’t go back unless we send them back.

fscarn in reply to rhhardin. | January 21, 2025 at 5:28 pm

“. . . on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away,” she concluded.

    —–

No problemo. We’ll send the kids back along with the parents.

    diver64 in reply to rhhardin. | January 21, 2025 at 8:05 pm

Why do all leftists assume that Mexicans only pick crops? Even so, there are machines that can do the job.

      MattMusson in reply to diver64. | January 22, 2025 at 5:18 am

Why do leftists approve of importing a slave class of undocumented workers?
“Who’s going to pick our cotton?”

JD Vance isn’t having ANY of it and I’m here for it. He wears it right on his sleeve, like any great Marine. And then Trump let’s his feelings known right around the :48 second mark. BTW, I haven’t heard many (or any) female ‘ministers’ who aren’t complete intersectional retards.

I know of a couple. Very bible-based and strong believers.

But they are few and far between.

TargaGTS in reply to GWB. | January 21, 2025 at 2:16 pm

I will take your word for it. But, I honestly have not. I haven’t met a reliably conservative nun who’s < 70. For whatever reasons, females in the ministry and ordained-adjacent positions in the Christian church seem to be almost entirely compromised of uber-leftists, many of them carrying the LGBTQ flag rather than the Cross.

gonzotx in reply to TargaGTS. | January 21, 2025 at 2:55 pm

Me either, and I remember when Trump went to the church when the thugs started it on fire, with milley, and the minister and milley stabbed him in the back

I was expecting this shit show
Me doesn’t need to ever go back to this house of far left BS

jhkrischel in reply to TargaGTS. | January 21, 2025 at 2:59 pm

Mormon female leaders in Relief Society and Primary can be pretty based. I think if you spend a lot of time raising kids, especially if you’re partnering with a good husband, makes you better at acknowledging and dealing with reality.

This “bishop” doesn’t realize that by taking the best and brightest, or even just the most ambitions, from other countries, we’re actually dooming more poor brown people everywhere to generations of massive failure. The best thing to do for the most people would be to leave the ambitious geniuses in their countries of origin so they can reform and lead them.

Oh, and T is anti LG.

healthguyfsu in reply to TargaGTS. | January 21, 2025 at 3:48 pm

You can find them in some rural communities being normal down-to-earth people. The Urban sprawl creates harpies.

A lot of them are ministers solely for the power it gives them, moving to throw off the shackles of the Order of Creation. A very few are simply relentless true Christians who see a need to provide leadership in the gaps. Deborahs vs Jezebels.

Yeah, Progressivism appeals to a lot of them, especially when clothed in the guise of Christianity.

        AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to TargaGTS. | January 21, 2025 at 4:21 pm

          JohnSmith100 in reply to AF_Chief_Master_Sgt. | January 21, 2025 at 5:01 pm

The truth is that it is common and welcomed for consenting adults to grab each other. It is also common to talk about these things. I bet that ther are frustrated women mad that no one is interested in them. There is no shortage of people both dumb and ugly of both men and women.

Tionico in reply to TargaGTS. | January 22, 2025 at 12:42 pm

The bible has an answer for such pontificators as this female:
obey the laws of the authorities… that includes not violating immigration laws, and also includes God’s laws against homosexuality, transgener madness, etc. further, God’s law plainly prohibits females having authority “in the assembly” which means SHE cnnot have authority over he church body.
Anyone who gives the time of day to such a noisesome biddy needs tp repent.

Ironclaw in reply to TargaGTS. | January 21, 2025 at 3:10 pm

fscarn in reply to Ironclaw. | January 21, 2025 at 3:14 pm

Seems Trump’s advance team fell down on the job. They should have known the background of those who would be in the pulpit.

There’s a famous aphorism by Samuel Johnson comparing female preachers to dogs who walk on their hind legs. It’s possible no one has ever told it to Trump, but at this point probably no one needs to.

As a female Anglican Priest, I can tell you there are many who are called to this sacred office and who preach The Gospel (to the exclusion of ALL that social justice crap).

I have known about this woman for years, and people like her are part of the reason my denomination broke away from the Episcopal Church.

On a more personal note, I knew that one of the first comments here would be one like yours – because she reflects poorly on all of us. Please know that she does not represent the majority of female pastors, and your comment about “intersectional retards” was hurtful.

Azathoth in reply to WindyHill. | January 23, 2025 at 8:37 am

I have known about this woman for years, and people like her are part of the reason my denomination broke away from the Episcopal Church.

They are? Anglican, the Church of England, came first. Episcopal was devised to be Anglican without the king.

On a more personal note, I knew that one of the first comments here would be one like yours – because she reflects poorly on all of us. Please know that she does not represent the majority of female pastors, and your comment about “intersectional retards” was hurtful.

Then why do you ape them?

If you’re not an intersectional retard the comment was not directed at you. But I suspect you may be close.

There are no female priests. Priest is a male role in Christianity. That you have taken such a title suggests things about you.

Christianity has abandoned the priestess, closest are the nuns, and they are not close.

But there are roles that are meant for women, that are designed for the strength of women.

Priest is not one of them.

In the name of our God
Sorry, “bishop”, but your god is not our God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Father of the Son, and the source of the Holy Spirit. Your god is your own sinful heart. So stop lecturing me, and repent or depart God’s Church.

The Bishop asserts that “They may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.

Two things, bishop. First, we never said that the vast majority of immigrants are crominals. Second, those who entered the country illegally are indeed criminals, by definition.

thalesofmiletus in reply to moonmoth. | January 21, 2025 at 2:29 pm

They are invaders, whether they mean ill or not. To call them criminals is a mischaracterization, as if what they are doing would be OK so long as Obama/Biden gives them a pass or a future Democratic supermajority throws the gates open for them.

thalesofmiletus | January 21, 2025 at 2:20 pm

Oh look, it’s the same broad who got upset when the Feds finally cleared out the arsony-but-peaceful Floyd protests in DC.

Clearly this “Pastor” has never read, First Timothy.

WindyHill in reply to Wade Hampton. | January 22, 2025 at 8:19 pm

1 Timothy was written by Paul, to his young protege Timothy, about how Timothy should address a specific issue at a specific church in Ephesus. Paul effectively ministered alongside many women in his day, and seemingly had no problem with any of that.

Lecture the Bishop on who diddles little boys.

2smartforlibs | January 21, 2025 at 2:23 pm

How racist to think only they do that. American use to be happy to do these job until handouts paid more

nordic prince | January 21, 2025 at 2:24 pm

Wonder if she would still get her undies in a bunch if it were poor white “trash” that was employed in these menial jobs.

Illegal aliens are not ‘immigrants’. Tranny weirdos ain’t normal. If this ‘Bishop’ knows where employers are employing illegal aliens she needs to come clean about the specifics so we can prosecute the criminals involved. If she knows where children are being forced (and it is force b/c children are bared from making adult decisions) by self aggrandizing adults to alter their dress much less their bodies to conform to the virtue signalling desires of adults she definitely needs to tell us where.

This is an Episcopal bishop, so you can expect nothing else. Today, with a steadily diminishing tiny minority of faithful small “o” orthodox priests, they consist of poorly trained social workers with collars who have forgotten that Jesus died to take way our sins, not our minds.

Does the sweet, tender and loving bishop think this will change Trump or his policies?

Then she doesn’t know Trump. He doesn’t respond favorably to this type of gambit. All she did is make him more resolute.

Due to the way he was treated, he’s going scorched earth. this time around.

Threadbare agitprop.

Although most mainstream Christian denominations these days have veered to the left and away from God, the Episcopals were pretty much the vanguard and are arguably the worst of the bunch.

Tradition aside, in the future, administrations might want to consider eschewing that particular edifice for religious services and attend one that practices biblical Christianity, not some warped leftist version.

I picked cherries in Michigan one summer. Rules: you could eat all the cherries you wanted, but once you started picking a tree you had to finish it. No low hanging fruit only. For each full bucket you got your ticket punched, and the ticket could be converted into money later. Jobs teen Americans can do. Assuming teens are allowed on ladders now. No age limit.

Dolce Far Niente in reply to rhhardin. | January 21, 2025 at 11:14 pm

My brothers and I also picked fruit for pay as kids, but that is no longer possible, at least in the state where we lived. Its now illegal. Adults only.

in many states NO ONE cn pick crops without being registered as an employee with the state, and the crop owner being oriced to m=pay workers compensation ad withholding, even in cases where the pucker is a casual day labourer picking or pay by the pound or bucket. Bitwork is illegal. Costs of the wirmers comp is prohibitive, so they rsort to you pick andor let the crop rot. Stupid…..
Kids used to be able to make pocket change/mad money picking berries. No more.
No wonder the kids get ito so much more trouble. Not to mention never learn how to WORK.
When I was 14 I ran my own house painting company. Today all my customers would be in jail for hiring an “underage worker”. arm kids can’t even work anymore, they are “underage”. My Dad rab he wagon and team during haying, drove the schoolbus every day when he was fourteen. Yup. Legally, too. (He got his driving license on his 12th birthday).

The American Episcopal Church is dying on the vine. Red Collar ministers like her aren’t helping. She and the rest of the High Church left are preaching a “Religionless Christianity”.

CommoChief in reply to Whitewall. | January 21, 2025 at 3:30 pm

Exactly so. They split as did the Methodists over this kind of crap,.as.have others and more to follow. Much of the so called ‘Christianity’ being pushed by establishment denominations is cherry picked doctrinal snippets they twist to support wokiesta agenda. They have turned into little more than Karens but instead of HoA bylaws they screech Marxism dressed up as an inauthentic gospel.

I like it when people say, “in the name of God” and then go off on their own little rant. I highly suspect your personal opinion and politics isn’t coming from God.

Budde should be deported, too.

Bishop Gives Trump, Vance Woke Lecture on Immigrants: ‘The People Who Pick Our Crops’

I don’t know who that guy works for but he needs to never be involved in anything in government ever again. Whatever “church” he works for should also be boycotted and probably investigated for treason, since the so-called bishop gave reasonable suspicion that they are giving aid and comfort to invading illegals.

Also, whoever scheduled this guy for this appearance needs to be sh*tcanned.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | January 21, 2025 at 4:53 pm

They may not be citizens or have the proper documentation,

LOL.

This so-called “bishop” thinks that merely not having “the proper documentation” means nothing. The whole Rule of Law and contracts (which the modern world is entirely based on) depends on the concept of “the proper documentation”. According to this moron, car thieves are merely lacking “the proper documentation” for the cars and are not criminals just because they have such a great appreciation of cars.

This so-called bishop is a retard and a joke. Whatever so-called “church” he is part of is clearly not a religious organization but a political PAC, at best.

Nothing more obnoxious, graceless and despicable than a sanctimonious and holier-than-thou religious figure using his/her pulpit to spew leftist/Dhimmi-crat talking points that reflect his/her political biases and predilections.

I blame these religious organizations for the catastrophe that is the border.

Suburban Farm Guy | January 21, 2025 at 5:39 pm

Hospitals employ illegals for the night shift? News to me

False religion that does not follow the teaching of the Bible.

But the question back to her, What about Lakin Riley? The countless children being sexually trafficked? Americans raped and killed by illegals?

I have good news. Mexico is offering asylum. It’s not bad. 130 million people already live there. There are tons of Mexican restaurants and you don’t have to press #2 for Spanish.

It’s more extensive now, but my church (Universalist) way back in the ’50’s had two way left ministers back to back. They literally drove the entire congregation away except for a few old ladies.

ECUSA following pop-culture nowadays, not the bible. Most of the traditionalists left.

“sermon at the National Prayer Service, that asked him to take “mercy” on those “scared” of his presidency. ”

“Sorry, Bishop, we’re still opening the re-education camps on schedule.”

What he lacks is a conception of scarcity, which is what economics deals with. It’s always a trade-off. As in, for example, legal immigration, which does the trade-off.

You can’t make up this stuff!!! Progressive Episcopalian Bishop begs for mercy for immigrants from President married to an immigrant, and Vice President married to a second generation immigrant, DJT’s first wife was also an immigrant, so three of his four children have immigrant mothers. By the way – none worked at jobs rejected by the American middle-class. These immigrants were all successful.

Azathoth in reply to CincyJan. | January 23, 2025 at 9:01 am

Donald Trump IS a ‘second generation immigrant’.

He is the second generation of his family born in America.

His grandparents, and his father probably spoke another language around the house.

Expecting Trump to have a decent bone in his body is futile.A complete POS-from head to toe. His cult, of course, doesn’t see it. They think he’s a good, honest guy who is the ‘victim’ of lawfare.
Why? Because they’re in a cult.Incapable of critical analysis.

This is why I left the Episcopal church 40 years ago. Blatant support for radical ideas, ideas and values that were counter to those of the parishioners.

Today the pews of Episcopal churches are mostly empty and those who do attend are elderly or fall under the banner of woke.

It’s a shame.

Once again Democrats are fuming because Republicans are taking their slaves away.

I don’t know what the term would be, perhaps “pew-side manner” akin to “bed-side manner” as in medicine? Whatever it would be, Bishop Budde (hard for me to say that—lifetime Catholic girl here—I’d call her “Bishopette”) has an online presence, including video from 2020 where she was recorded saying verbatim “…we need to replace President Trump…”. This was an ambush, and using her position as an apostate person of the cloth to advance a political position. Funny how she probably froths at the mouth about “separation of church and state”, but hypocritically makes an exception for herself only in this case.

Budde’s diocese has lost 36% of its attendance in ten years. If it weren’t for the endowments rich people left to the Episcopal Church, that building would probably be a condo development by now.
