Adam Carolla on DEI: Out of High School Told Couldn’t Apply To Be Firefighter Because He’s White Male

“No, because you’re not black, Hispanic or a woman and we’ll see you in about 7 years.”

This story may be the perfect example of the destructive nature of DEI policies.

Eight years ago, comedian Adam Carolla told this story during congressional testimony. He describes being a younger man and applying for a job as a firefighter in Los Angeles and being told that because he is a white male that it would be years before he could even take the test.

This story is being recirculated now because the DEI obsessed city of Los Angeles is complaining that they don’t have enough firefighters to combat the rampant wildfires consuming the city.

Ian Miller reports at OutKick:

Most reasonable people would also assume that for something as important as fighting fires, politics would take a backseat to creating the most prepared, efficient, effective force possible. But reasonable people generally don’t exist in Los Angeles government.

One such tragically hilarious example came 8 years ago in Congressional testimony from comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla. Carolla explained that he applied to be a firefighter for Los Angeles earlier in his life and was told he had to wait 7 years to return to take the examination because he wasn’t a member of a racial or gender minority.

“Geez. I want to talk about my white privilege so badly,” he said. “I graduated North Hollywood High with a 1.7 GPA and could not find a job. I walked to a fire station. I was 19 and living in the garage of my family home and my mom was on welfare and food stamps. I said, ‘Can I get a job as a fireman?’ and they said, ‘No, because you’re not black, Hispanic or a woman and we’ll see you in about 7 years.’”…

“I had a young woman of color standing behind me in line, and I said to her, ‘Just out of curiosity, when did you sign up to become a fire man?’ … she said, ‘Wednesday.’ That is an example of my white privilege.”

This video of DEI training at the LAFD has also been shared widely.

So has this video of the LGBT fire chief.

I’m going to let Megyn Kelly speak for all of us. Strong language warning.

As indicated yesterday, half in jest, if this had happened before the election, California may have surprised the nation. Now it has another chance.

Carolla intimates much the same, from Breitbart after the fire:

“Comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla has predicted that the catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires will lead wealthy California elites to abandon the Democrat party, or at least persuade them to vote somewhat less blue, because of the onerous amounts of state regulation they will face when they attempt to rebuild.”

Well thgey voted for this mess. Add Adam Schiff and California is totally screwed. Don’t worry Angelinos, Biden will use taxpayer money to bail you out and rebuild your rotten city. Meanwhile western North Carolinians are still suffering from hurricane damage.

Maybe not at the voting booth. They certainly did with their decision to continue to reside in a fire prone, semi arid area, with frequent drought and high winds governed by uncaring leaders, staffed with incompetent officials that refuse to mitigate fire risk by cutting back/removal of ladder fuel/install fire breaks or ensure adequate water storage and pumping capacity to match the terrain and a worst case fire scenario or at minimum previous fires of the last century. They absolutely don’t deserve such a catastrophe but they did accept the conditions that led to it instead of choosing to pack their crap and moving to a more sane area of the Nation. Unless they were a convict of some sort that was refused permission by the Court or Probation/Parole to leave then all the adults had a choice.

“Democrats’ Katrina! The anger is just getting started.”

Even Helen Keller could’ve seen that coming.

“ I’m going to let Megyn Kelly speak for all of us. Strong language warning…”

Sometimes folks in order to get your point across it is essential to use the full force of our language.

This is one of those times.

Reverse discrimination is still discrimination. Merit should *never* take a back seat to social justice. If you are smart, strong and ridiculously brave, it doesn’t matter what color your skin is, who you sleep with or if you sit down to pee.

Problems occur when you invert that principle in pursuit of “social justice”.

Any adjective in front of the word “justice” inverts the meaning of the word.
