Putin Grants Assad Asylum in Russia After Fleeing Syria
Rebel leader Abu Mohammed al-Golani used to belong to al-Qaeda before forming his own group. The State Department designated him as a global terrorist in May 2013.
Russian dictator President Vladimir Putin has granted fallen Syrian dictator Bashar Assad asylum as rebels ransack his palace and government buildings burn.
Russian News Agency Tass reported:
According to the source in the Kremlin, Assad and his family have arrived in Moscow. Being guided by humanitarian considerations, Russia has granted asylum for them.
“Russia has always spoken in favor of a political settlement of the Syrian crisis. We insist that the UN-mediated talks be resumed,” the source said.
“Russian officials are in touch with representatives of armed Syrian opposition, whose leaders have guaranteed security of Russian military bases and diplomatic missions on the Syrian territory,” the source added.
Syria has been in a civil war for almost 14 years. Rebels swept across Syria, capturing Damascus, the country’s capital, and dismantling the Assad family’s 50-year reign of terror.
The Rebels
According to NBC News, the rebels promised personal freedom. This includes women’s clothing:
“Imposing any requests related to their attire or appearance, including requests for modesty, is strictly prohibited,” reported the Syrian state newspaper, which is now controlled by HTS.
“We affirm that personal freedom is guaranteed for all, and that respecting individual rights is the foundation for building a civilized nation,” the newspaper quoted the general command.
The command issued another directive saying it was forbidden to approach any military areas and police stations “to ensure security and stability.”
Syrians have surrounded and flooded prisons, releasing people and trying to find loved ones.
I’ve seen videos and pictures on social media, but I don’t know if they’re new or old.
Rebel Leader Abu Mohammed al-Golani
Former al-Qaeda affiliate Abu Mohammed al-Golani leads the rebels. He has tried to distance himself from his radical Islamist views even though the State Department designated him as a global terrorist in May 2013.
Golani left al-Qaeda in 2016 and merged his organization, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), with other groups in northwest Syria, where the government lost control during the civil war.
But should we believe and trust Golani?
Bill Roggio, managing editor of Long War Journal, said: “He plays the moderate game very well, but he’s a global jihadist. He’s an expert at manipulating.”

How much longer til the Obamas, Clintons and their lackeys Joe and Jill become ex-pat citizens of Russia?
From das wiki: ‘Timber Sycamore was a classified weapons supply and training program run by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and supported by the United Kingdom and some Arab intelligence services, including Saudi intelligence.
The aim of the program was to remove Syrian president Bashar al-Assad from power. Launched in 2012 or 2013, it supplied money, weaponry and training to Syrian opposition groups fighting Syrian government forces in the Syrian Civil War.
President Barack Obama secretly authorized the CIA to begin arming Syria’s embattled rebels in 2013. The program became public knowledge in mid-2016.’
Pres
Prime example of 48 hour rule. I heard how many stories about his plane getting shot down and various other nutty conspiracy theories.
Apparently that was a Russian diversion to get his real plane out safely. Or at least so I’ve read.
Obama & the Clintons hurt the hardest.
There were several factions in Syria competing to overthrow Assad. I have no knowledge or opinion on which faction the US should have supported.
However, just like Iraq, Lybia, Egypt, the dictator for those countries were somewhat of a moderating force. Just like the desposition of Gaddafi, and Sadamm, the outster of Assad is leaving a geopolitical vacumn in the region.
There are no good guys here, folks.

President Trump halted this fuster cluck in 2017. JoeBama re-started it in 2022.
There are no good guys except maybe Trump.

Funny. Reality is that Obama could’ve toppled Assad in 2013 but used Putin to protect him. Neither CIA program, nor DOD’s, was designed to bring down Assad.

More evidence Obama-Biden never tried to topple Assad. To the very end, they tried to save Assad.

Not only did the Biden IC miss the fall of Assad, as recently as of Friday (post uncontested fall of Hama), @amoshochstein and @brett_mcgurk were working with the UAE to try to prop up Assad rather than focusing on plans to deal with the resurgence of IS/AQ affiliates
fwiw – keeping assad in place may have been the better choice. As what happened in Iraq and lybia, a huge political vacumn developed as a result of the outster of sadamn and Gaddafi.
Note I make no pretense of knowing the right answer on syria.
Remember when Nancy Pelosi went to Damascus?
2007 – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi challenged the White House on Middle East policy today, meeting with Syria’s leader and insisting “the road to Damascus is a road to peace.”
2007 – The Bush administration — “Unfortunately that road is lined with the victims of Hamas and Hezbollah, the victims of terrorists who cross from Syria into Iraq,”
2007: Pelosi – “Wearing a flowered head scarf and a black abaya robe” […]
Whoopsie?
2014; Pelosi – Under an acceptable congressional resolution, “U.S. military force in Syria would be ‘finite’ in duration. ‘It’s tailored. It’s targeted. It’s over.’
Sanders – “No matter what Pelosi says about how an attack is not a real war, it will feel like war in Syria.”
Legacy media grooming Assad –
