Fetterman Warns Against Weaponizing Institutions Against Opponents, Backs Pardon
“… America’s confidence in these kind of institutions have been damaged by these kinds of cases…”
The View, co-host Joy Behar seemed shocked when Senator John Fetterman’s (D-PA) suggested that President-elect Donald Trump should receive a pardon similar to Hunter Biden’s.
“I think it’s undeniable that the case against Hunter Biden was really politically motivated, but I also think it’s true that the trial in New York for Trump was political too. And in both cases, I think a pardon is appropriate and I really think collectively America’s confidence in these kind of institutions have been damaged by these kinds of cases, and we cannot allow these kinds of institutions to be weaponized against our political opponents. And it’s very clear both trials were politically motivated weaponized on the other side.”
Sen. John Fetterman says both the Hunter Biden prosecution and "the trial in New York for Trump" were politically motived and both deserve a pardon: "In both cases, I think a pardon is appropriate. Fetterman is not the only Democrat advocating for a Trump pardon:
Fetterman noted how some of his fellow Democrats were “gleeful” over Trump’s conviction, and he argued the charges Trump and Hunter Biden faced would have never been brought unless one side “realized that they could weaponize” the nation’s legal system.
Trump’s lawyers have filed a 72-page motion to dismiss his conviction in New York, arguing the president’s pardon undermines the fairness of Trump’s prosecution. Biden argued that his son had been “selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted” and that “raw politics has infected this process,” with Trump’s lawyers claiming the president’s remarks apply equally to Trump’s New York case.
On Monday, NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo pitched the idea of Biden pardoning Trump following his massive pardon of his son, to which sports journalist Stephen A. Smith responded, “That’s exactly what I would do.” Smith argued that the Democratic Party needs to recognize it “lost the election” and that it is now “time to move forward.”

These dems do not see/acknowledge/even be aware that THEY, DEMOCRATS weaponized DOJ against DJT, Guiliani, Flynn, etc. Holy smokes –
‘there are some so blind the cannot see – we could put the bulk of Ds in that category. Their US House members, I believe broke the law as did Hunter and how many of them will ever be responsible for the border horrors?
No, it’s very deniable, and is in fact not true.
The Trump NY cases (both of them) were political; no one else in comparable circumstances has ever been prosecuted, or ever would be.
The only thing political about Biden’s case is how leniently he was treated; anyone else in comparable circumstances would not only have been prosecuted on the two charges he was but on many more, and would never have been offered the sort of deal he was.
This is the sort of mealy-mouthed “fault on both sides” stuff that we hear all the time when someone’s own side is undoubtedly at fault but they try to minimize it by claiming the other side is just as bad.
B,, Ask Wesley Snipes what happens when you don’t pay taxes…
Dear God, Hunter IS guilty of so much more, including treason
Are you nuts?
He should hang along with his father
Is who nuts? Milhouse agrees with you. Except for the hanging part.
Generally, Milhouse, you’re just that sort of mealy mouthed fault on both sides sort from what I can see. Given how much you pop in to act as a white knight for the leftist of the day.
Bullshit. You’re a fucking liar. I argue for the truth and for fairness. Always.
I don’t base my opinions on whose ox is gored. Anyone who does is a dishonest piece of filth who has no right to participate in any public discussion.
And I’m making my comment despite also upvoting your comment.
HB was indicted to legitimize a conspiracy among the Biden White House, the Biden DoJ, Fulton County and New York City to deprive Trump of his freedom and property — all for the purpose of claiming “Rule of Law” applying to even the President’s son.
That is the height of political motivation. (Further made undeniable by the leniency offered to HB).
So once again Milhouse shows up as the resident idiot of the comment section. Hunter Biden was prosecuted by his own fathers’ DOJ. Run by his fathers’ appointees. Republicans and Trump had nothing to do with it.
Apologies to Milhouse. I misunderstood his comment.
Milhouse. I misunderstood your comment on this debate, and voiced my objection. When I went back and looked more closely, I realized I had misinterpreted your comments. I apologize for that.
What a load of BS. Hunter Biden didn’t file his taxes for several years, during a period of time when he had TENS of MILLIONS in income. He evaded paying MILLIONS in federal and state taxes. Those kinds of cases get prosecuted every day in America, just ask Wesley Snipes. This, of course, says nothing of the other far more serious tax and other crimes he committed where the statute of limitations were purposefully allowed to lapse. He received nothing but preferential treatment the entire way.
In fact it was said in a Fox News story he never paid the taxes and never needs to.
Biden never paid but a fraction, and it is not clear his brother ever paid anything on the mysterious “loans”.
Fetterman better watch out or the left is going to be gunning for him.
Literally.
Trump should say, thanks but no thanks, that he will not accept it because he does not need it, unlike the lawless Obama/Biden henchmen.
The pardon does weaponize institutions. This was to cover the OBUYdens corrputi9n not help the drug addict Hunter
The Anti-Federalists argued against a sweeping presidential pardon power during the Constitutional Convention, one point was that the president could pardon someone who did crimes in his behalf. This is our situation now, as Biden will pardon every member of his family, and entire departments such as Justice, all who did crimes on his behalf.
Agree completely. Reading the history of the Constitution and the contemporary debate about it including the Federalist papers, it’s clear the Founders had a reasonably good grasp on the ‘worst case scenario.’ But, because they lived at a time when ‘honor’ actually meant something, they defaulted to the position that good people will generally do the right thing; they presumed POTUS would act honorable, even though they recognized he may not, as you point out.
That worked well for almost a quarter of a century….until Joe Biden. For all the talk about Trump ‘destroying norms’ it’s been Joe Biden (and his handlers) who has run roughshod over the norms – circumspection and restraint about using presidential authority – that has been mostly embraced and adhered to by 45-previous presidents. He’s taken a blowtorch and bulldozer to the Oval Office and I’m afraid the Republic will never be the same because of it.
Democrat and media allies have urged Biden in the last several weeks to pardon many of his comrades, including Mark Milley, Christopher Wray, Justice Department lawyers, Joe Biden himself, the whole Biden family, Liz Cheney, Mark Milley, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, and Adam Kinzinger, among other criminals.
The POTUS and his family are criminals ? The former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is a criminal ? .. the head of the FBI should arrest himself ? .. DOJ lawyers are criminals (without Garland ?) ? .. members of Congress need immunity for actions not covered by the Speech and Debate Clause ?
Notice how Kamala Harris is never included in this list for pardons. She never did anything.
