Zelensky: Ukraine ‘War Will End Faster’ With Trump in the White House
“During this war, both our people and I personally, in negotiations with the U.S. — with Trump, Biden, and European leaders — have shown that the rhetoric of ‘Sit down and listen’ does not work with us.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that the war with Russia “will end faster” with Donald Trump in the White House.
“A just peace is very important for us so that there is no feeling that we have lost the best for the sake of injustice imposed on you (Ukrainians). The war will end, but there is no exact date,” Zelensky said.
“Certainly, with the policies of this team that will now lead the White House, the war will end faster. This is their approach, their promise to their society, and it is also very important to them.”
Zelensky noted that he and Trump had a “constructive interaction,” during which Ukraine presented its vision for peace. “He (Trump) heard the basis on which we stand. I did not hear anything contrary to our position,” Zelensky said.
When asked whether Trump had demanded Kyiv negotiate with Moscow, Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s independence.
“During this war, both our people and I personally, in negotiations with the U.S. — with Trump, Biden, and European leaders — have shown that the rhetoric of ‘Sit down and listen’ does not work with us,” he said.

I can imagine him making the same sort of claim if Harris had won the election.
Trump hates quagmires.
The Obama/ Biden/ Harris admins treated Ukraine’s defense like they treat Israel’s defense, issue stern letters in their defense, but when the rubber meets the road don’t be “provocative”. Don’t give enuf aid that their attackers will take offense.
In other words, speak loudly, and carry a tiny stick.
If Putin is intransigent, Trump will want to go all in aid to Ukraine.
If Ukraine is intransigent, Trump will want to end aid to Ukraine.
Sometimes the bold move is the right move, the Dems are so afraid of starting WW III that, like the allies in the 1940s, they are on the brink of starting WW III.
You mean saying “Don’t” or “Cut it out” doesn’t work?
I do not wish ill on the people of Ukraine, at the same time I do not want to pay their way, for my children and grandchildren to pay their way. I also have an innate distrust of glad handing hustlers. I think that Zelensky is one and that there is a lot of graft.
“the rhetoric of ‘Sit down and listen’ does not work with us,” he said.”
How about the rhetoric of, “this ATM is permanently closed?”
He is being magnanimous right now because he does not hate Russia or Russians and so genuinely wishes to throw some sort of bone to Putin/Russia to get him to stop slaughtering a generation of young Russians in useless attacks.
I have to confess to being one of the people who did not think a Ukrainian victory was possible and who thought a best case scenario was the winter war with Russia finding a consolation prize but not conquering Ukraine.
Based on how the Kursk campaign is going I think what Russia will get is Ukraine will not join NATO or the EU.
Pray Russia picks right in selecting the next leader/form of government.
“Based on how the Kursk campaign is going I think what Russia will get is Ukraine will not join NATO or the EU”
I’m not sure about the EU which appears to be showing cracks but Putin all along warned about Ukraine joining NATO. Those noises were one of the main reasons he invaded Ukraine in the first place after Biden said a little incursion wouldn’t be that bad.
The reason he invaded Ukraine is because he could. Putin has been shaving off parts of the country for years, and with Biden’s weak response he thought he could grab the rest without more than toekn resistance and some noise from the international community. Putin’s belief (as stated in the essay he wrote just before the invasion) is that Ukraine is part of Russia, and his goal has always been to build a new Russian Empire.
It just turned out that Putin’s military wasn’t up to the matter, and now he’s stuck in with no end in sight. Russia can’t conquer Ukraine and Ukraine can’t eject the Russians. I suspect both sides are looking for an out, and Trump can provide that. A deal that will give neither side everything it wants, but will at least allow them to make the proper noise about how they “won” without losing face. Zelensky can crow about how Ukraine resisted the Russians, and Putin can say he kept NATO off his border (not actually true) by keeping Ukraine from joining. And things will go back to the way they were, with Ukraine slightly smaller but relatively secure against another invasion.
NATO was an excuse he could try to sell to the Russian people not a reality.
The more I think about it the more truly damning it is that prior to the war there wasn’t a single Ukrainian willing to discuss resolving diplomatic differences with Hungary over treatment of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine as a way to get Hungary to become a yes vote for a new NATO member.
Vladimir Putin already had Ukraine having no NATO prospects before the invasion started.
Without doubt Biden did make some mistakes but it would be a mistake to take the NATO excuse as anything but a joke.
As a follow up if Biden had wanted Ukrainian NATO membership you would have seen him voluntell the Hungarians and Ukrainians to resolve their issues (United States has leverage over both nations).
So the end result will be the Donbas and Crimea remaining in Russian hands (which makes sense for the Donbas given it’s a predominately Russian area), which is pretty much where things ended a couple years ago after the initial invasion.
The Ukraine is a great example of the lefts hypocrisy in that the demand immediate ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon because peace must be given a chance or some shit like that while preaching never ending war in the Ukraine because Ukrainians and Russians must keep on dying 🤬
No NATO membership but I’m fine with military assistance to aid the Ukrainians security but NOT on the obscene levels we have seen these last couple years!
“The left … demands immediate ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon because peace must be given a chance … while preaching never ending war in the Ukraine”
So true.
But there is a consistent pair of principles at work here.
1) do you advance or are an ally in our cultural Marxist / identity-based power grab?
2) if not, are you good for money laundering tax payer dollars back to us?
Those are the principles at work.
The Ukrainians have fought tenaciously and creatively and preserved ~80% of their territory against overwhelming odds, and, what looked like certain defeat, in the early hours of the invasion. On top of that, they gave Russia two black eyes. All at a huge cost in lives and infrastructure.
Biden, his chaperones and the Europeans should have recognized these realities, and, also recognized that a prolonged war didn’t serve Ukraine’s interests. They could have negotiated for peace, but, Ukrainian pride, enabled by Dhimmi-crat warmongering, prevented that. Now, #47 brings needed clarity into the room.
End the war in the Ukraine, and then top it off with a furtherance of the Abraham Accords to put an end to the barbarian tyranny that rules Iran. Wouldn’t that be a legacy to leave for the next generation?!
Or until the next D president signs a stack of EOs on the first day of his term to undo it all, like Joe did..
