Trump Picks Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence

Trump Picks Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence

Gabbard left the Democrats after 2020 and became a Republican this year.

President-elect Donald Trump chose former Hawaii Rep. Lt. Colonel Tulsi Gabbard as his Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

“For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans,” said Trump. “As a former Candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties – She is now a proud Republican! I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!”

Gabbard gained national attention when she took down then-Sen. Kamala Harris in a 2020 Democratic primary debate.

This is an eff you to DC establishment who somehow put Gabbard on the ‘watch list’ which she discovered while going through the airport. I like it, would have preferred her as Sec.Def with Kash Patel as DNI but I’ll take it.

Should have been Ric Grenell

2028 Republican Presidential Ticket

President: JD Vance
VP: Tulsi Gabbard

Already being opposed by GOPe as compromised by China and Putin. These people are the worst.

Many backseat drivers. Good pick. Trump has not acted willy nilly. Change will not be piecemeal because to be successful it can’t be.

Does that mean you are staking out a position that all his current nominees will be confirmed?

Will let others play that game. But things are not going to change for the better in increments.

If some nominees are successfully confirmed and other nominations are defeated then wouldn’t that be both piecemeal and incremental?

You need to get the idea of a Trump flipping a switch immediately after being sworn in and everything coming up roses out of your head. Reform in DC is absolutely gonna be in incremental, fits and starts, it will not be a smooth process. It’s gonna be incredibly frustrating as the bureaucracy and DC establishment gins up opposition and resistance, throwing wrenches into the process to slow it, stall it or prevent it.

There will be policy victories and policy failures, successful confirmations and defeats, legislative wins, losses and even some compromises along the way. Frankly one term isn’t gonna be enough to outlast the roadblocks the establishment will throw up. We gonna make progress and do some damage to the swamp but it will take another POTUS following Trump who is just as committed to reform to carry the baton further and to make it stick

You can take it out of context. The comment was not about the confirmation process, but the pirates that Trump is choosing to shake things up.

And please do not be concerned about what others need to get out of their heads, when you really don’t know. No one knows what will happen and how fast or slow it will be. If anything, the events of the last year show that simple truth.

What I do know for sure and certain is that the DC establishment, federal bureaucracy and the crony capitalist grifters are gonna fight tooth and nail using every means they have, every dirty trick, every procedure and every precedent possible to derail any change. They ain’t gonna roll over for Trump.

If you think the progressive march of over 100 years, since the Wilson admin, of the credentialed class taking over the levers of power via a deliberate process of slowly acquiring authority to just…hand it over b/c Trump won an election…you need to reel in your expectations. If nothing you gonna be very disappointed.

Gonna be a very tough effort to get it done. But it absolutely can get done given enough time to not just get the wins but to cement them into place as solidly as the d/prog have done. We.don’t want temporary changes but lasting changes that endure beyond a single term. We need legislation to do that not just EO otherwise the next d/prog can undo the changes. That will take time to do, frankly I believe we need three consecutive Presidential terms to get it cemented into place.

The only way that a non GOPe/Dem loyalist nominee for an important cabinet position can be confirmed is via recess appointments. The idea of advice and consent of the Senate has been perverted to mean only those picks who declare allegiance to the DC establishment will be approved. It is time confront and defeat the corrupt DC establishment which runs this country without any restraints on its power.

By all means confront the establishment, rip them up by the roots but that’s not an overnight process. I would go as far as to say vote for a d/prog in the general election for Thune’s opponent if that’s what it takes to get the message across to the establishment politicians.

That said, until a constitutional amendment removes the advice and consent requirement then the Senate has the final say on whether a nominee is successfully put into place.

I think this is a good pick. She’s smart and dedicated to the country. She’s Lt. Colonel plus spent time on the Armed Services, Homeland Security, and Foreign Affairs house committees so she has experience in that area. Plus it really should be a non partisan position as long as you care about the country and I believe she does.
