House Republicans Keep Majority, Hitting 218 Seats
The Trifecta.
NBC News projects the Republicans will keep the majority in the House after calling two races:
CNN also made the projection, noting that Speaker Mike Johnson will likely keep his position.
It seems no matter the GOP will maintain the slim majority, which means the party cannot afford many defectors on bills.

I hope Trump doesn’t appoint too many R representatives to cabinet, ambassadors, etc. It will be a slim majority, and they’ll need all the votes they can get.
Appointing Stefanik from deep blue NY seems like an especially poor idea. Her replacement will not have the same stature and could have risk in 2 years, even from a Republican district.
I cannot understand Trump’s move. The UN is a dead-end agency that is anti-American and Stefanik is too valuable to put her there. Trump will need House fighters to win the spineless RINOs to his cause and she has more balls than half of the men.
The UN isn’t dead and still holds a place of importance for America to influence (regardless of the UN’s desire to make themselves irrelevant). This is why the adults are in charge 🤟
Yep. Not 4d chess.
One in the hand is worth two in the bush. Nothing in life is guaranteed.
Right now we need experienced people heading House committees more than we need a UN mouthpiece.
We should leave the UN, kick them out of America. Then create a tighter knit replacement, one without all the users.
Her CD (NY 21) is deep Red and she won re-election with way, way over 60% of the votes. It ain’t a seat the d/prog can easily win.
I hope you’re right!
You can easily look it up and the composition of the CD won’t gonna change between now and a special election to replace her. Incumbent members win 98%+ of their bids for re-election. It’s an amazingly powerful advantage. So long as the local NY GoP comes together on an agreed replacement and no internal civil war/bad blood /feuds kick off I really don’t believe the seat is in any jeopardy of going to the d/prog.
Her replacement will be equally at risk now. Fortunately Gov. Hochul cannot appoint a replacement but must hold a special election. But NY has indeed turned blue almost everywhere, and I wonder if a Dem might win a special election now. Dems will be motivated and pushed hard to turn out and flip that seat.
It seems a strange thing to do with the House as close as it is. It’s not like Gaetz from Florida whose seat is almost certainly safe. Maybe Trump thinks he did well enough in NY this time around and Stefanik’s seat is in a red enough district that another Republican will be elected.
This doesn’t add up?
You mean to tell me that even though Trump won the popular vote, took counties or what ever that haven’t been taken off Democrats in living memory and basically destroying Democrats like a leftist grooming a child that somehow Republicans only just squeaked in to hold on to the House? 🤔
Something tells me that with the vote taking a week or so to count AFTER the election that there wasn’t some Democrat games going on with magic ballots?
My son tells me that today, Yuma County dumped another tranche of votes into the hopper that equals the number they turned in so far. The steal is on for Kari Lake’s senate seat.
And this happens far to often to be accidental.
218 is only enough if both seats who are leaving are replaced by Republicans. Dems are surely fighting with everything they’ve got to flip this back.
Then we could have 2 years of Dems investigating Republicans and impeaching Trump, rather than Reps continuing to investigate Dems.
There’s a few more uncalled races that may come in for GoP but …Yeah getting thin. Gaetz just resigned so (-) 1 already.
Gaetz seat is fine as he’s in an area so red its practically speaking chinese 😉
