U. Nevada-Reno Female Volleyball Team Forfeits Game Against Team With Male Player

“We demand that our right to safety and fair competition on the court be upheld. We refuse to participate in any match that advances injustice against female athletes.”

The University of Nevada Reno’s female volleyball team forfeited its game against San Jose State University because of a male player on the team.

UN Reno first said the team would play, but never consulted the girls.

The girls said no:

But most of the Nevada players did not agree with the decision made by the school and decided to take matters into their own hands.

“We, the University of Nevada Reno women’s volleyball team, forfeit against San Jose State University and stand united in solidarity with the volleyball teams of Southern Utah University, Boise State University, the University of Wyoming, and Utah State University,” the team wrote in an exclusive statement to OutKick.

“We demand that our right to safety and fair competition on the court be upheld. We refuse to participate in any match that advances injustice against female athletes.”

Sia Liilii, a senior and one of two captains on the team, told OutKick that players were frustrated when they found out that the school had committed them to playing the match without speaking to them.

“The school released that statement without consulting our team at all,” Liilii said. “We were pretty upset that we were not made aware that a statement was going to come out.”

The statement is vastly more powerful when the entire team elects to forfeit

Its also safer for the entire team to forfeit since it greatly reduces the risk of a single player losing their scholarship as in the case of individual sports such as swimming, track, tennis, etc

Sadly, more of this type of action is going to be needed in order to put an end to the stupidity of men participating in women’s sports.

Oh! Here’s a thought! Maybe we need “universal background checks” for all people who intend to participate in women’s sports, in order to verify that all are actual females.

You go ladies! You have the power to end this madness by refusing to participate.

These ladies have some backbone! Correct is correct,

Go Wolf Pack

(This kinda reminds me of the Montgomery Alabama municipal bus boycott, and many other similar type situations. The NCAA will have to concede sooner or later.

Perhaps even better might be for youall to form your own Athletic Association. Riley Gaines might could be first president. Then, you never need deal with NCAA nor with college administrators ever again.

Not a lot of more satisfying feelings in life …….. than just walking away from an abusive relationship.

Jmo good luck ladies

As noted above, Riley had a scholarship in a individual sport (not a team sport).
As such her forfeiting an event has large reprocussions due to risk of loss of scholarship and losing chance for ncaa titles in her various events.

An entire team forfeiting is much easier to accomplish with out the risks to personal advancement in your sport.

This is how it is done.
