My initial take on the elimination of Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7 Massacre and leader of Hamas.
The news just broke that Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7 massacre, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, a really despicable human being if you can even call him that, has been killed,
He was recovered in a building in Gaza in Rafah by regular troops. In fact, they were recent recruits. It was not a massive bombing, it was not any of those things. It does not appear to have been even a targeted killing.
They were operating in Rafah, the area that the Biden administration and that Kamala Harris specifically threatened Israel with consequences if they invaded Rafah. That’s where he was found.
Rumors are, or reports are, that he previously had been with the six hostages who were executed recently and executed them because they were impeding his ability to move about.
This comes, you would think there would be elation, you would think there would be jumping up and down for joy, and certainly in Israel based on the videos I’ve seen, some of that is going on.
But for me, it’s more a closure, it’s more thinking about the hostages, it’s more thinking about those Bibas twins, those redheaded kids who were kidnapped, and praying they are still alive and can be released. We don’t know yet.
But that’s really my thoughts. It’s more of a closure.
For so many months now, for really a year, I’ve not slept at night. Nothing compared to what the Israelis have gone through or the hostage families, but I think a lot of people have told me, you don’t sleep at night, you wake up at two or three in the morning, and you check your phone hoping that there would be some news and hoping that there would be news that they finally got Sinwar. And now they got him.
And again, it’s more a feeling of closure, it’s more a feeling that my thoughts are completely with the hostages.
Thank you Benjamin Netanyahu, thank you for the Israeli Defense Forces for standing up to pressure from the international community, particularly pressure from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and going and getting the job done. Hopefully, this will lead to the release of the hostages, but it’s more a feeling of just closure and sadness really. Happiness that they got him, happiness that that monster is gone from the face of this earth, but sadness as to what took us here over the past year.
And again, my thoughts are with the Bibas family and the other hostages that are still in tunnels, hopefully alive in Gaza, and hopefully will be released soon.
