Mark Halperin Predicts Historic Mental Breakdown on the Left if Trump Wins the 2024 Election

Journalist Mark Halperin was in the news last week after he claimed that he had seen private (campaign) polling that showed Kamala Harris is in trouble in the swing states.
This week, Halperin sat for a long interview with Tucker Carlson, during which he said that if Trump wins the 2024 election, we will witness the “biggest mental health crisis in the history of America.”

TUCKER CARLSON: A lot of Democrats, maybe the majority, believe that Trump becoming president again is the worst thing that could ever happen. So how do they respond to that?
MARK HALPERIN: I say this not flippantly, I think it will be the cause of the greatest mental health crisis in the history of the country. I think tens of millions of people will question their connection to the nation, their connection to other human beings, their connection to their vision of what their future, and the future for their children, could be like. I think it will require an enormous amount of access to mental health professionals. I think it’ll lead to trauma in the workplace. I think there will be some degree of —

MARK HALPERIN: 100% serious. I think there’ll be alcoholism, broken marriages… yeah. They think he’s the worst person possible to be president. Having won by the hand of Jim Comey and a fluke in 2016, and then performed in office for four years, and denied who won the election last time, and January 6th… the fact that under a fair election, America chose by the pre-agreed rules Donald Trump again — I think it will cause the biggest mental health crisis in the history of America.
And I don’t think it will be a passing thing that, by the inauguration, we’ll be fine. I think it will be sustained, unprecedented, and hideous, and I don’t think the country’s ready for it…
I think there’ll be workplace fights, fights at kids’ birthday parties, I think there will be protests that will turn violent. I hope they don’t, but I think there will be some.

It’s incredibly pathetic and sad that Halperin is probably right about this. Democrat officials and the liberal media have been beating an anti-Trump drum on a daily basis for years to ensure this outcome should Trump win.

That was a great conversation with Carlson. It’s long – 2(ish) hours – but well worth it, particularly if you listen to it in the car. Halperin is much more of a Tim Russert Democrat than anyone you might find on TV today. While he may come from the other side of the aisle, he understands why people are conservative and why someone like Trump appeals to minorities in a way Mitt Romney couldn’t. As the clip above demonstrates, he also perfectly understands how hopelessly broken – psychologically – so many Democrats are…and how worse it’s going to get if Trump wins.
Thought occurred to me. IF an assassination succeeds once he is elected I see it going 2 ways:
1- if foreign agent… well that will go badly for the entity instigating.
2- if domestic. Gloves come off on meeting leftist violence and intimidation with overwhelming violent response.

Kyle’s decision to go to Kenosha that night, and to be armed with an AR, only appears ill-advised because 20,000 Kenoshans with ARs weren’t out on their streets with him. Kyle went to help and Kenosha let him down.

Definitely the first couple of months because Biden won’t act to stop Antifa riots between election night and the middle of January. Thus only red state governors will call out their National Guard units to respond and they can’t operate in hostile states other than their own without Federal control. I imagine the West Coast and New York to Massachusetts to be a nightmare to try to just try to commute to work around the end of the year.

He was basically advising that an incoming Trump Admin with Congressional Majorities should basically pump the brakes on any legislation/EO to ‘reach across the aisle’ or get d/prog buy in to make bipartisan decisions. Consider the deficit spending, right now we spending $1 Trillion every 100 days above tax receipts. A big % of federal debt must be refinanced…at much higher rates. That costs even more $ than this year where we spent about $1 Trillion for interest on debt. Just to get to a balanced budget means cutting about $1.8 Trillion in current spending to get down to the roughly $5 Trillion we raise in Federal taxes. Lots of $ and all with powerful constituencies that will all raise holy hell if ‘their’ program is cut.
One example of how the media discussion will turn on a dime. SSA is facing a 20% + cut in ’34. That is gonna be a constant question when Trump is in office versus today’s near silence from media. Every can the d/prog kicked down the road and that the legacy media ignores today will be front page if Trump wins.
This is one of more thoughtful responses among the many here. It conveys a thought that’s occurred to me. The outgoing administration is without doubt a failed presidency, leaving many festering wounds to the nation. Kamala would have little inclination or ability to tackle any of them, since she;s been party to them herself, so conditions in the nation would deteriorate even more for another 4-8 years. I pity Trump and his administration having to clean house and correct the many problems kicked down the road. And few Americans would appreciate their efforts to improve the country’s trajectory into the future. It is difficult to be optimistic about our future at this point.

For example Federal grants and contracts with NGO and ‘charities’. IMO they should be ruthlessly cut off from the Federal teat. Period, no exceptions. Do that and the cottage industry benefiting from illegal immigrants dies. Same for tax free status …yes to include churches which all to often are doing overtly political crap and or hiding behind their ‘charity status’.

Remember when Trump won in 2016? There were people saying they were afraid to go to work or school because he won. College campuses had to make a safe space for students (and staff?) to be together to mourn that he won. There were early photos taken on the mall to make it appear very few people were showing up to see him be sworn in, and entertainers were threatened with being blacklisted if they agreed to perform at the inauguration ball.
Yes, more serious stuff continued – but right from the start they made his term as uncomfortable as possible.
