Lizzo: If Harris Becomes President the Country Will be Like Detroit

Lizzo: If Harris Becomes President the Country Will be Like Detroit

Yeah, I don’t want Oklahoma City to become Detroit.

VP Kamala Harris has Lizzo campaigning for her in Detroit, MI.

Lizzo gave a passionate speech about Detroit, a city she lived in until she was ten. Her family then relocated to Houston, TX, so yeah. I guess she knows a lot about Detroit.

Lizzo claimed if Harris wins next month the country will look like Detroit, which is honestly not a good thing.

The singer brought up supposed voter suppression, too. She claimed people discourage youngsters from voting.

Ugh, Lizzo also reminded us that Harris has spent her entire career in the public sector. Yeah, another career politician.

How can Harris possibly understand the economy when she has no experience in the private sector?

Here’s the whole speech (emphasis mine):

So happy to be back in Detroit. You know, all the best things were made in Detroit: coney dogs, Faygo, and Lizzo. I’m so proud to be from this city. They say if Kamala wins, then the whole country will be like Detroit.

Okay. Proud like Detroit. Resilient like Detroit. We’re talking about the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry. So put some respect on Detroit’s name, okay? I’m proud to say that I voted. I voted early and I voted for Kamala Harris.

They say voting is not a love letter. It’s a chess move.

Oh, you can’t. Hear me? Oh, then we got to run this back. Hello? Hello? Turn me up. Turn up the music. Turn down the light. I got a feeling. Can you all hear me all right?

Thank you so much.

All right, I’m running it back from the top because you all need to hear this. What up, dog? They say if Kamala wins in this whole country will be like Detroit. Well, I say proud like Detroit. I say resilient like Detroit.

This is the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry. So put some respect on Detroit’s name. I’m proud to say that I voted. I voted early and I voted for Kamala Harris.

They say voting is not a love letter, it’s a chess move. Well, I feel like voting early is not just a chess move, it’s a power move. There’s a lot of people who feel okay. There’s a lot of people who feel like their vote doesn’t matter, but I say to that if your vote didn’t matter, then voter suppression would not exist.

If your vote didn’t matter, they wouldn’t discourage young people from going to the polls. If your vote didn’t matter, our parents and our grandparents would not have marched and fought for our right to vote.

And also, you live in the great state of Michigan. This is the swing state of all swing states, so every single last vote here counts. I love this country, and I love you whether you’re..I love you! Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican or neither, you deserve a president who listens when you speak.

You deserve a president who respects when you protest. You deserve a president who understands that their job is to be a public service. And Kamala Harris has dedicated her entire career to public service.

From DA to VP. And I think Mrs. Commander-in-Chief has a nice ring to it. There are some who say that America is not ready for a woman president. Well, to that, I say look to Detroit. The CEO of GM, Mary Barra, that’s a woman. The CEO of Avalon Village, Mama Shu, in Highland Park, building communities for the future. That’s a woman.

So if you ask me if America is ready for his first woman president, I only got one thing to say: It’s about damn time. It’s about damn time.

I love you all. God bless you. God bless America, and I will see you at the polls. Baby, let’s go.

Heh, Trump can win just running ads of accidental progressives statements like this lol.

Still, get out there and vote – too big to rig!!

I read that and thought- wow- I didn’t know Lizzo was a Trump fan.

Can we get her do the same in San Francisco, Portland and Seattle?

    JohnSmith100 in reply to PrincetonAl. | October 19, 2024 at 7:07 pm

It laughed when I read, “We’re talking about the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry.”

Everyone who was competent left Detroit a long time ago.

I sort of lived in Detroit in the med 70’s. 3 years as a plant engineer.

4 10 hour days, 3 day weekends. It was a great learning experience, that was where I learned about water treatment.

    OwenKellogg-Engineer in reply to PrincetonAl. | October 20, 2024 at 8:11 am

They need to run them as soon as these people make the statement!

Detroit is a city ya wanna leave, NEVER become.

Home folks think I’m big in Detroit City
From the letters that I write they think I’m just fine, yes they do
But by day I make the cars and by night I make the bars
If only they could read between the lines

‘Cause you know I rode a freight train north to Detroit City
And after all these years I find I’ve just been wastin’ my time
You know what I’m gonna do?
I’m gonna take my foolish pride
Get it on a southbound freight and let it ride
I’m gonna go back to the loved ones
The ones I left waiting so far behind]

I want to go home, yeah
I want to go home
Oh, how I want to go home [Can’t you hear me?]
I want to go home

I gather Lizzo has never heard of the Curley Effect – or maybe she has, and that is what she is after.

https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/shleifer/files/curley_effect.pdf

From the article:

We call this strategy—increasing the relative size of one’s political base through distortionary, wealth-reducing policies—the Curley effect. But it is hardly unique to Curley. Other American mayors, but also politicians around the world, have pursued policies that encouraged emigration of their political enemies, raising poverty but gaining political advantage. In his 24 years as mayor, Detroit’s Coleman Young drove white residents and businesses out of the city. ‘‘Under Young, Detroit has become not merely an American city that happens to have a black majority, but a black metropolis, the first major Third World city in the United States. The trappings are all there—showcase projects, black-fisted symbols, an external enemy, and the cult of personality’’.

Apparently, Lizzo did not perform and Harris spoke for 6-7 MINUTES! Living the lie.

Another great Trump ad: Video of this woman saying “if Kamala wins, then the whole country will be like Detroit” followed by video of how Detroit looks like today.

Result: thousands more voting for Trump. Perfect.

Yeah, you just have to find a way to make sure people realize that the speaker (Lizzo) is not just another MAGA devotée who hates Kamala.

    diver64 in reply to navyvet. | October 20, 2024 at 5:48 am

Detroit is so awesome that she left and never moved back. The ad writes itself. Lizzo saying Harris will make America like Detroit then shot after shot of burned out buildings, graffiti, police at gang shootings…..

Amtrak will run mugger-movers.

“This is the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry…”

Apparently this talentless dolt thinks it’s 1960 and she’s voting for JFK.

If she hadn’t noticed, Detroit was murdered by the complacency of the Big Three and the greed of unions. Today, Detroit is best known for building fires.

And the music industry died with Michael Jackson.

When Farrah Fawcett got to heaven, they said everyone gets one wish on arrival.
She said “save the children…” 🙂

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Peter Moss. | October 20, 2024 at 6:58 am

The race riots sealed Detroit’s fate. The auto companies may have been complacent, but they closed factories elsewhere and most of those cities survived. Union greed? Yes. Unions sabotage of the product on the assembly line didn’t help sales. The famous stories of coke bottles in the door panels and the like are stories, But, runs in the paint, not torquing to spec, leaving out hardware… all true.

“Lizzo: If Harris Becomes President the Country Will be Like Detroit.”

Yes, and no thanks.

    ChrisPeters in reply to steves59. | October 20, 2024 at 1:19 am

She should have said, “. . . will be like Detroit sooner.’

    Concise in reply to steves59. | October 20, 2024 at 9:02 am

So, all we get from Democrats is a choice of dooms, California or Detroit. The new Democrat Scylla and Charybdis. I guess that makes President Trump Odysseus. Sounds about right.

Coleman young went out of his way to drive the tax base out of Detroit. The truth is that black parenting is more about tolerating kids than raising them, there are exceptions, but nowhere enough.

I learned this as our neighborhood changed. A neighbor with 3 teen daughters and their suiters keeping me awake on school nights, vandalism, theft. It was educational.

My family deserted the city, every time we looked back it was worse.

I prefer the Geico Lizzo…

Yes, I thought, for a half nanosecond, that it was a pro-Trump message.

who?

2smartforlibs | October 19, 2024 at 8:43 pm

Not sure how circumventing the ele toal system and installing an empty suit is upholding democracy.

Lizzo loves Detroit because, since she lost weight, they are now about the same size.

    henrybowman in reply to Q. | October 20, 2024 at 2:42 pm

Isn’t she the one that caused a minor panic at Mount Palomar a year ago March when she twerked for her fans?

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | October 19, 2024 at 9:08 pm

We’re talking about the same Detroit that innovated the auto industry and the music industry

Uh … the Detroit that “innovated the auto industry” hasn’t been around for decades. Komrade Kamala and her supporters would be looking to jail the original automobile titans and looking to strip them of every penny. And Traitor Joe and Komrade Kamala are currently attacking that auto industry – along with the whole of the reliable energy industry – hoping to kill both of them dead.

As to music and Motown … what did the rise of Motown have to do with anything in government?? So Detroit had a great phase of music creating and producing. Great. Lots of cities have had that. Motown is great music but it has absolutely nothing to do with government.

Lizzo – whoever the hell she is – loves Detroit? Good for her. She can have it. Does she still live in the ‘hood, or did she she run away to a huge mansion in the suburbs, somewhere?? Just wondering.

lizzo added:

if we just keep supporting obamacare

america will look like me

lizzo looks like she ate Detroit.

“So if you ask me if America is ready for his first woman president, I only got one thing to say: It’s about damn time. It’s about damn time.”
Screw intelligence, integrity, experience, or constitutionality. The important thing is to vote for the vagina front hole.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to henrybowman. | October 19, 2024 at 10:48 pm

I laugh at this whole “front hole” thing. Lefties, again, make up stupid and INCORRECT euphemisms for their deranged ideas. Guys have a front hole below the waist, too. A penis would be completely useless without one!

If the lefties want to distinguish this female physical characteristic then the word they are looking for is “gash”.

It’s hard to believe, but this ditz actually makes Kamala look smart.

Detroit?

[From perplexity.ai]

In addition to the Audi she gifted her mother, Lizzo has a collection of luxury vehicles. Her garage reportedly includes:
Bentley Bentayga: Valued at nearly $200,000, this SUV features a powerful 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine.
Mercedes-Benz GLC: Worth around $40,000, this model is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine.
Range Rover Velar: Priced at approximately $60,990, this vehicle is known for its sleek design and performance capabilities12.
Lizzo’s collection reflects her success and taste for high-end automobiles.

To be fair, much like the rest of the country, there are large bare areas within Detroit that are suitable for wheat farming.

I grew up listening CKLW in the 70’s, and I still remember the day when the morning DJ came on to announce that no one was killed in Detroit the previous day. Apparently it was a first.

MoeHowardwasright | October 20, 2024 at 6:02 am

Detroit has been dying for almost 60 years. Hell that can’t even figure out who owns the Packard factory and it’s been almost 65 years since it shut down. An eye sore that’s never been resolved. A dysfunctional political scene just adds to the decline. I used to make business trips a few times each year. Stayed downtown. Front desk always reminded you NOT to go outside after dark. You couldn’t even walk to a restaurant. FKH

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to MoeHowardwasright. | October 20, 2024 at 7:16 am

I think all that bureaucratic nonsense was finally resolved and it’s been or is being torn down.

Gads…. the cars that plant turned out…!

McGehee 🇺🇲 Trump 2024 | October 20, 2024 at 6:51 am

The bubble is real

Hard pass on turning everywhere else in the USA into Detroit.

E Howard Hunt | October 20, 2024 at 8:28 am

Unlike Harris, Lizzo speaks articulately and projects confidence. The democrats should be running her as president.
