What are the odds that Commie Tim hits himself in the face with his flailing arms in the first 3 minutes, suffers a concussion, and a no-contest is declared?

It’s got to be 3:1, at least.

Norah O’Donnell should be nice and do the debate moderation in a bikini.

There are some absolute certainties in this debate.

1) The moderators are going to ‘fact-check’ Vance. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ‘fact-check’ him fact-checking Walz, actually.

2) Walz is going to call Vance ‘weird’

3) No matter what happens they will claim Walz ‘won’

Vance could have made a fortune as a litigator. I’m sure he was heavily recruited in law school. It would be interesting to hear him explain why he didn’t go that route.

JD is appearing much more polished than his opponent.

Highest temperture ever? Fact check that was wrong

These moderators are, very predictably, even worse than the two imbeciles ABC used. They haven’t once asked Vance if would ‘like to respond to Gov. Walz.’ They’ve asked Walz to respond after every answer Vance has offered. It’s insane.

Olinser in reply to TargaGTS. | October 1, 2024 at 9:43 pm

It’s only insane if you expected anything different.

I’m honestly shocked that conservatives act shocked at the fact that the ‘moderators’ are just Democrat operatives.

TargaGTS in reply to Olinser. | October 1, 2024 at 10:12 pm

I’m not shocked that they’re like this. In fact, I called it ‘predictable.’ I am shocked that GOP candidates continue to agree to this moderation format. That’s what’s insane; Republicans keep doing the same thing over again expecting different results. Moderators aren’t inquisitors. They’re announcers – in announcing the topics – and time-keepers, nothing more. In the Lincoln/Douglas debates, they didn’t exist at all.

Vance should just respond period

Following along….

Timmy is being smooth, but he still sneaks the lies in. Now he is going off on the failed border plan. Lying about the wall building (that Harris supposedly supports now). Lying about fentanyl.

Vance is good. The moderators are sleazing in “fact checking” with CBS polls.

Now Walz is bringing in the Haitian issues.

Uh oh! Vance called out the moderators for fact checking and attempted to correct her. It almost drifted into a real debate before they cut the mics.

Now it is housing “supplements.” Lying about tax cuts for the rich.

The “20% national tax!! “Fair share” taxes on the “rich.”

The moderators front load questions into Vance’s response allowance to throw him off.

Wharton school “says Trump would not work as well as Harris'” Of course, they use “universal tariffs” in their calculations, which nobody has seen.

Walz lies about “Trumps covid function collapsed Harris’ opportunity to shine on “day one.”

Deficit spending with China Trump’s fault, forgetting the tariff bludgeon.

Harris “created 250K jobs” but don’t account for covid recovery.

Timpon called out about HK Tianenmes sq. Walz launches into Harrisesque “upbringing” spiel.

Walz admits he is a “knucklehead.” Touts his election record and bipartisanship. DOES NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION, SHIFTS TO TRUMP.

Walz is “understanding the world” and thinks Trump should go with him.

Moderator reiterates, and Walz said “misspoke.” Stumbles a bit.

Now going after Vance’s old statements about Trump, and criticisms about Trump in 2020. “Will Vance be able to corral Trump?”

Vance says he matured, and realized that Trump’s plans actually worked.

Now V. critiques Congressional passivity and obsession with fauxpeachment.

Vance got back to Walz’s 20% universal trump tax: reinforces the use of tariffs.

Abortion now. Walz lying about a Texan woman’s abortion. Kentucky incest issue. All excepted by the laws, but Tampon.

Bingo!! Project 2025!! IVF lies, and states incorrectly that he used IVF.

Vance supports fertility treatments, rethinking abortion. Supports regional differences in viewpoints on abortion. Relates personal story of friend.

Amber (thurman) alert!! No mention of the abortifacients she took and didn’t work. MN is “best healthcare rated.”

Moderators going after Vance on abortion stances. V: never supported a national ban. In OH, people voted AGAINST V’s position, and gave him pause.

W: not pro abortion, pro women. Steps around Dem scare campaign.

W working hard to sound “reasonable.”

V: corrects Amber Thurman story. Clarifies MN law, Timpon denies. V: will catholic hospitals be forced to do abortions.

W: woman’s decision. V says “what did I say that was wrong? W could not respond. V; says MN law says X He’s a lawyer. W say that is wrong-not a lawyer.

Think back to the Pence/Harris debate. This debate has to be viewed in that context. Vance is just crushing this idiot in what may be the greatest televised debate performance in US history. Pence could barely claw to a draw with Harris and just this year, described Harris as a ‘very capable debater.’ Picking Vance was one of Trump’s best decisions, ever.

Live debate?
I was looking forward to two adults debating. It appears Vance is standing next to a hot air ballon being spewed on for two hours with moderators controlling the flow.

Did waltz just say he’s “made friends with shooters”

“He’s always writing something on the paper pad CBS provided to each.”

“help…
me….”

I took a drink every time Walz said Minnesota, now I am drunk.

This is the 3rd debate. Can anyone remember the subject of China coming up, particularly China’s hostile stance towards Taiwan and its obvious hegemonic desires? I really can’t. China trade may have come up in 1st debate…but, I’m not certain.

clintack in reply to TargaGTS. | October 1, 2024 at 10:43 pm

Nothing at all about how much less safe the world is, about how two new wars that could easily escalate to WWIII.

CommoChief in reply to TargaGTS. | October 2, 2024 at 8:38 am

No China discussion in the debates is b/c the globalist/neocon DC establishment, which very much includes the legacy media, is too heavily invested in the idea of China as a ‘responsible’ Nation, trading partner and so on.

I think Walz wants to bite Vance!

I’ll put my $0.02 down on “No one cares about the VP candidates.” as tomorrow’s media talking point. Or just a straight pivot to other stories and no mention of this debate.

Those who think voters aren’t going to be swayed by a VP debate forget 1) This is the last debate of race, so it will stick in voters’ minds, and 2) Harris has very limited press and public interactions.

thad_the_man in reply to Leslie Eastman. | October 2, 2024 at 12:59 am

They were trying to tell us that Vance was weird and Trump should drop him.
Today he looked the most presidential of al;l the candidates. That is gonna resonate, It will also make some people take another look at Donald Trump, because if they lied about Vance then are they lying about Trump?

clintack in reply to Leslie Eastman. | October 2, 2024 at 1:32 am

Yep. For most voters, this was their first time seeing these two men live and unscripted.

Going in, I thought the most important thing was Vance making a good first impression. I think he knocked that out of the park. And it matters more than usual because Trump is 80 years old and has faced two serious assassination attempts in the last three months.

Dimsdale in reply to clintack. | October 2, 2024 at 8:37 am

“Unscripted” as in the presumption that SeeBS didn’t give Walz’s team some “generalized” debate questions like they did Harris?

CommoChief in reply to Leslie Eastman. | October 2, 2024 at 8:42 am

Add to this the clips of the debate that will circulate online and the many podcasts which will offer their own take. The ability of the legacy media to control information flow and direct the conversation is largely done, new media has upended that paradigm which is one reason they hate Musk and X….

On internet but would be a great ad for Trump to use

Gun violence time; Mods say guns largest cause of death for kids. Not true: it is car crashes.

W says even research on guns not allowed. Both tell of their children. Says not going to take your guns. Says Scandinavia has high gun ownership but no gun crimes, forgetting that the U.S. used to be like that before the 1960’s

V: mental health higher here. Gun problem biggest in cities.

W: claims NRA doesn’t teach safety anymore. Says most gun problems rural gun suicides. Claims “sometimes it is just the guns.” What?

Inflation!

Housing is the biggest problem. Mods bring up Harris tax credits etc. Is Harris just handing out money, and will drive prices higher?

W. trying to sound “homey” about houses. Brings up veteran’s housing allowance. Making a state program for housing supplements.

V: Mods say cut illegal invasion and take public lands to build. How? V: reiterated pressure illegals put on housing. Harris could do this now, but isn’t. Shows that lowering energy prices will do more than gov supplements. Repeats that illegals are overloading system

Federal lands for homes. W says “will you drill and build houses at same time? Even tho V said no parks used.

Mods: what is your evidence that illegal immigration drives prices higher. V says will put on website. Housing becomes a commodity when given away by government. W misrepresents regulations issue.

High cost of healthcare.

Nora brings up “concepts” issue with obamacare.. V says preexisting conditions supported. Show that “concepts” means not presenting hundreds of pages of plans on stage. V brings up Trumps record. Wants states to be laboratories of healthcare plan ideas. Obamacare was actually supported, not crushed by Trump in office.

W says he was there during obamacare creation. Says more people covered under Harris. Misrepresents Trump’s position on ACA, who wanted mandatory aspect rescinded. Says “concepts” is a fourth grade answer. Says Trump wants to cherry pick insurees.

V says W is not telling truth Trump ensures access and left scares people from Trump who stopped obamacare from collapsing.

W says individual mandate is a good idea, but everyone has to be on it,

Childcare crisis.

Mods: paid leave for new parents. How long is long enough? Repeats that Harris “negotiated” lower drug price on 10 drugs. Goes for the tax breaks for the rich again. Backs high childcare prices

V on paid family leave; mentions wife’s situation, notes women have different preferences – want choice. Gov model only goes to one size fits all solution. Says families want options, not one size fits all solutions.

Mod childcare costs as much as housing. V says that when we penalize companies that cheat america, that money can go to subsidize childcare options. Notes high costs due to limited supply of care.

W: 6K will only pay for 4-5 months of childcare. Says tariffs rob families first. Claims MN needs illegals as workers.

2020 election fraud!

Mods say “everyone says no evidence of fraud” and that V would not certify that election. V want peaceful debate about ballot security. Believe the threat to democracy is CENSORSHIP by govt. (I agree)
Thanks RFK and Tulsi for support, noting they don’t have to agree in everything, but discussion is the most important, not burying opinion.

W: says Trump refused to concede. “140 cops beaten” MN examples. “Hang pence” commented on.

Imprisoning your political opponents!!!! LIKE BIDEN-HARRIS ISN’T ALREADY DOING THIS. Said Trump trying to “overturn the 2020 election”

V: says “rich” that Trump wouldn’t leave etc. because he left on schedule, but protested right up to the wire. Brings up Russian collusion farce.

W: “J6 not FB ads” Tries to make case for censorship. “threat to democracy” Tries to pin Vance down on “did trump lose” Vance counters with censorship threat to democracy. Wants both sides to reject censorship. Walz “fire in crowded theater” V: says not the same as shutting down speech like disagreements on covid or politics. W wants “firewall” on trump SEE: gagging.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | October 1, 2024 at 10:45 pm

Sadly, Vance has done really sh*tty tonight. He sucked, big time. I don’t know whjy he thinks it’s a good idea to be overly nice to a commie scumbag and to try and agree with him on everything he can. And he missed tons of opportunities to make points – Walz cries over a woman needing to drive 6 hours for an abortion but Vance doesn’t come back and point out that every AMERICAN who goes to an emergency room has to wait 8 or 10 hours because the place is overrun by the dems’ illegal alien army who don’t have any right to be here, in the first place. And Vance hasn’t made one mention of the riots of 2020 that the dems loved so much and which Walz helped to create. And Vance’s defense of Jan 6th was pathetic.

Shame. He really sucked. Oh well …

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to ThePrimordialOrderedPair. | October 1, 2024 at 10:54 pm

Vance didn’t lose anything in the debate but he missed a golden opportunity that was relatively easy-pickins.

Indeed. I waited a full 7 hours in the UT Austin ER before getting any attention. The waiting room was full of the scum of the earth. The situation is worse than you say. A hospital in Conn was bankrupted by an illegal alien who ran up a huge bill for transplant surgery he couldn’t pay. Foreigners come first in modern America. Vance needed to hit hard on all these points. Pound pound pound a populist message. This is what we get from feminized politicians.

Vance, when asked about deportation, shoulda reminded the women of America that Harris has knowingly let over 16,000 illegals with sexual assault convictions into the country increasing the chances by that much of women here getting r*ped

Awful. I shut it off after about 45 minutes. I was disappointed in Vance. I expected him to do better, but perhaps he did as well as anyone could given the structure of the whole thing. How does one deal with a tsunami of lies? Why the moderators? Lincoln and Douglas didn’t have moderators. They didn’t have a sound system yet their voices were heard. Each debate was three hours long. What stamina.

Closing statements. V goes last

W: surprised about “coalition that Harris has built” sense of optimism with “opportunity economy” We all know who Trump is, scare time. Vance will stick with trump. Harris brings JOY and “real solutions for the middle class”
A “new day” with Harris

Vance: brings up energy and tell of family heat issues. Harris energy policies, inflation, housing costs, fentanyl all worse with Harris. Harris says “on day one I will blah blah” V: Day one was 3.5 years ago. Praises America but says cannot live the American dream with the broken admin in place now.

Didn’t know there was a “School Shooter” constituency.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | October 1, 2024 at 10:50 pm

About the only thing that Walz was honest about was that most of the “gun violence” in Minnesota was suicide – which no normal person considers to be “gun violence”.

It’s how they get all their scare statistics. More than half of all “gun deaths” are suicides.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to clintack. | October 1, 2024 at 11:06 pm

Yep. And conservatives need to point that out every time they bring up their BS numbers.

In this case the moderators also used the BS number of “children dying from gun violence” to include 18 and 19 year old gang bangers as “children”. Vance didn’t challenge that BS “factoid” about “children” dying of gun violence, either.

On the positive side Vance did broach the idea that it’s psychiatric drugs fueling a lot of these school shootings, though he didn’t say drugs, exactly but “mental health issues”. That was a step in the right direction, at least.

It’s another of those issues where it’s really hard to effectively fact-check the moderators in the allotted time. It can easily come off like you’re making light of dead kids.

Heck, how do you even point out that “gun violence is now the leading killer of kids” is actually GOOD NEWS, because the actual leading killer of kids under eighteen (car crashes) is down 50% in the last twenty years?

henrybowman in reply to clintack. | October 2, 2024 at 1:17 am

It used to be a reliable two-thirds (20K to 10K)… back before the mostly peaceful demonstrations era.

Dimsdale in reply to clintack. | October 2, 2024 at 8:41 am

And the biggest cause of death in children is auto accidents, not gun violence, but it is up there. Walz embellished (lied) for effect. Never mentioned the black on black gun violence in Chicago and other Democrat “utopias.”

CommoChief in reply to Dimsdale. | October 2, 2024 at 8:50 am

Depends on age bracket. For kids under 5 drowning is the biggest cause of death. For ‘teens’ defined in govt stats as age 10-20 it is auto accidents.

The larger issue is that the d/prog will lie about the stats to advance their agenda and will use corrupt stats to do so. As one example they often include adults aged 18, 19 and 20 year old in stats about gun fatalities among ‘children’. It’s dishonest but not surprising. We should always seek to challenge and correct the impression their dishonesty conveys.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | October 1, 2024 at 10:55 pm

And Walz froze with his Tianamen lie … and Vance never even made one mention of it and let Walz go free on that.

Because it’s such a tiny lie compared to his stolen valor, and the bajillion lies about Trump’s policies and the economy and immigration.

In a 90 minute debate, Vance has maybe 30 minutes to make his case. The timing of Walz trip to Hong Kong is not a part of that case.

That’s why the moderators picked *that* particular lie to call Walz out on, so that they could pivot to a more consequential attack question for Vance while claiming to have been evenhanded.

Fun fact: Walz says Trump an “80 year old” with insinuations about his ability while they still have an 82 yo in office, supposedly “running” the country, and not well.

Biden has been kicked to the curb.

Dimsdale in reply to Dimsdale. | October 2, 2024 at 8:43 am

Biden acts like he’s as old as Carter, and Pres. Trump has the vitality of a 50 year old.

But as usual, Dems conflate, blur and obfuscate to lend false credence to their lies.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | October 1, 2024 at 10:58 pm

Also missed – when Wlaz talks about the Komrade Kamala plan to build 3 million houses (LOL), Vance didn’t attack it as it needs to be attacked – she wants to force low income, high-density housing on nice suburbs. This is just a revamp of the old Barky strategy to kill the suburbs and bring the urban decay and chaos to the nice areas. But … not a word about that. Vance didn’t even bring up the alleged 500,000 charging stations that Komrade Kamala was supposed to have built by now (with only 7 or 8 actually done).

So much missed …

Vance did very well, I’m not sure what you saw and most people are giving him a W
Hard to debate 3, but he did

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to gonzotx. | October 1, 2024 at 11:10 pm

Well … I just have to disagree with them. I was very disappointed with his performance. I don’t think it will have an effect but he missed a big opportunity and he certainly took the wrong approach by trying to be nice to the commie and trying to express agreement with him about anything. But … that’s my view on it.

Ha, LOL. New troll? Vance handled it just fine and did not take the bait. The side by side screen shots are golden. Posting a few of those where Vance has sideways glances and Tampon has the deer caught in headlights is worth anything that he said.

MarkS in reply to gonzotx. | October 2, 2024 at 7:22 am

he may of “won” be he, like Trump, missed several opportunities to deliver the coup de grace!

Really hard to give a 30-second summary of that issue to people who aren’t familiar with it and *not* give the moderators an opening to “fact check” how racist you are and then mute your mike.

I think he “missed” a lot of detailed points because he was focused on making the bigger picture argument. That was *probably* the right call.

Much, much more effective to answer as he did — she’s been in office for 1400+ days. Stop telling us what she’s “going” to do on day 1. She didn’t do it on day 1 or day 100 or day 1000.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to clintack. | October 1, 2024 at 11:17 pm

I don’t know … she blabs about the stupid 3 million houses all the time and no one ever explains what she means by that and the old Barky plan to destroy the suburbs. This is evil stuff and Vance really should have been ready with that answer. Frankly, I would be happy to hear the campaign just mention that someday … It is an evil plan that the left is salivating over and has been trying to do since 2009.

Maybe Harris can get those old Soviet architects to design their 40 people to a 2 bedroom apartment cement block apartments.

Or will they be called “gulags?”

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | October 1, 2024 at 11:14 pm

Vance just made the point about hospital wait times to Hannity. – 11:11pm

Better late than never.

I think Vance killed it ; he was calm , positive and confident. Walt was obviously scared , confused and said odd bizarre things several times despite getting softball friendly questions. JD bringing up censorship as the leading threat to democracy was money ! Loved it ! I think he did very well and yes he didn’t hammer certain issues because he isn’t Trump. While I love Trump being fiery and free wheeling a lot of people apparently don’t so JD will likely be a good counterpoint to him.

Dimsdale in reply to schmuul. | October 2, 2024 at 8:46 am

Command of the facts, to the point that the CBS shill had to cut his microphone when he revealed their lies.

Never took a single note that I could see. Walz was scribbling crib notes all the time.

He literally was given no rebuttal time amd Timmy was given all the opportunities
The debate was ridiculous, nothing on the disaster in the SE, because it would make Harris look like the heartless cu$& she is, nothing really on the. Boarder, same reason, Vance had to put it in in places, nothing on China, Timmy the commie would have been sunk

All about abortion, we want paid leave for 12 weeks , both parents and YOU get to pay for it, and Republicans are just mean cause they don’t support this

But , first we want to murder the baby

They were constantly cutting off Vance’s mic also

“Extremely awkward moment for CBS as Vance fact-checks them live on national TV “…

https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1841298614045335758

The media is absolutely WHORING themselves to get Harris across the line in November!

But let that sink in! Harris should be absolutely DOMINATING this election with the 200% on your knees sucking you off like a political novice to a Chicago politician called Daddy Brown support she is getting from the Democrat propaganda media!

But she isnt. I suspect the polls aren’t even close because she is essentially Brown Diversity Hillary. A basically unlikable individual.

Then again, the medias job here is to sell the fiction that she is popular so when the steal comes in, and it will, that no one will ever dare question the integrity of the election.

I wish JD was running for president. Maybe next time …

That’s the idea — passing the torch to the next generation.

It’s in stark contrast to the Boomer Neocons who only ever think of themselves.

Liberal sites like NPR, BBC and MSNBC have neutral sounding headlines like “Who is the real JD Vance? And 4 other takeaways from the vice-presidential debate”

Vance must have won.

Tbone – for curiousity I went to Huff post and Vox

Huff post has several posts on how walz obliberated Vance during the debate
Of course Huff post is a very far leftist website

Vox had a post on how dishonest Vance was during the debate, though the article looked like it was written before the debate and edited during the debate.

      tbonesays in reply to Joe-dallas. | October 2, 2024 at 4:23 pm

HuffyPos is still around? About 15 years ago every search engine put it on top no matter what I was looking for. I never voluntarily went to the site but I felt like a regular reader. It seemingly disappeared overnight.

Vance killed it. He was calm, forceful delivered facts, corrected the dishonesty as much as allowed (got his Mic cut off) and came across as a reasonable, very knowledgeable person serious about solving problems without falling into the trap of being condescending or abrasive which would PO the segment of voters who seek ways to be offended.

Great job by Vance. He doesn’t need to be Trump like in his mannerisms or debate style. That would be as phoney for him as asking Trump not to be Trump. Vance shattered the expectations, successfully trounced Wala and Harris policy ideas while eliminating the ‘weird’ label.
