Ben Shapiro: NY Times, Media Matters Pressuring ‘YouTube to Demonetize and Penalize’ Conservatives

“They want to destroy the dissemination of information from people on the Right one week prior to an election.”

The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro exposed the New York Times and Media Matters working together to pressure YouTube to silence conservative voices.

We also know the NYT contacted Tucker Carlson. Shapiro said the newspaper contacted others at The Daily Wire, too.

The far-left “media watchdog” organization founded by David Brock goes after conservatives, establishing boycotts and campaigns to boycott those voices.

Andrew Breitbart received a lot of wrath from the group, along with those who worked with him, like Dana Loesch.

Here’s Ben’s long Twitter thread.

“The New York Times is overtly, clearly admitting to using Media Matters research in order to pressure YouTube to demonetize people on the Right and destroy them, because when you are demonetized, that also limits your reach,” Shapiro wrote at The Daily Wire. “They want to destroy the dissemination of information from people on the Right one week prior to an election.”

A Pew Research survey discovered that 37% of Americans consume their news on YouTube.

Shapiro knew the context of the NYT article had nothing to do with election misinformation:

Obviously, none of this is about election misinformation and about shutting down “bad information,” as everyone knows.

How do I know? Because they reached out to me about “election misinformation.” To me, of all people. If you listen to the show, you know I have been perfectly consistent since November of 2020 in that I believe Joe Biden won the 2020 election. I thought Donald Trump had every right to legally challenge that election, but I did not see the actual evidence that the allegations he was making about fraud in the election and the election itself were sufficient to overcome the state certification of the ballots.

So of all the people to come to about election misinformation, coming to me is absolute proof that this trick has nothing to do with election misinformation. Instead, it is about silencing anybody on the Right. That is the goal. It is always the goal for the Left. It’s always the goal for the New York Times.

Shapiro also pointed out the quote he apparently said, “Your party rigged many of the voting rules in advance of the election in order to ensure an extraordinary number of mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting…”

Shapiro brought the receipts:

FiveThirtyEight wrote in 2023, “One of the most striking aspects of the 2020 election was the unprecedented use of mail-in voting. Nearly half (43 percent) of all voters cast a ballot by mail in 2020, a record share, according to the latest Survey of the Performance of American Elections, a post-election poll of tens of thousands of registered voters run by MIT political scientist Charles Stewart III. Much of this was driven by COVID-19 — states changed voting rules and requirements to make it easier to vote by mail, and voters hoping to avoid crowded polling places in the middle of a pandemic took advantage.”

Wait, that sounds like rigging the voting rules in order to increase mail-in balloting.

Maybe they ought to fact-check CBS News about ballot harvesting. In 2020, CBS News reported, “The Nevada Assembly passed legislation that would allow the state to mail a ballot to every registered voter, and the bill allows for third parties to collect ballots. Fierson argues that the threat to Postal Service funding and the warning of mail delays ‘makes ballot assistance even more important.’ But critics argue it opens the door to abuse and interference. The Nevada law does not limit how many ballots a person can collect. The Trump reelection campaign filed a lawsuit against the measure in Nevada and in other states.”

Again, that sounds like rigging the rules so as to increase ballot harvesting.

Let’s not forget how the left, Democrats, and media suppressed The New York Post’s expose of Hunter Biden’s laptop in October 2020.

Disgusting. I have no respect for anyone who uses Media Matters as a source for “misinformation.” I saw firsthand what they tried to do to Andrew.

A few of YouTube series I follow have been demonetize and has been happening all year. Many have moved to other forms as well. And I am not even talking political as we would think, more not following Leftists politics.

Further evidence that the Democrat Party, the party of “tolerance”, has absolutely NO TOLERANCE for opposing views.

Like YouTube needs to be “pressured” to act against Conservatives.

Curiously Trump was in on the first Media Matters op I know of, cancelling Don Imus.

Imus thought Hillary was morally repugnant and wouldn’t let her on the show for his highly sought political interviews, but did let Obama on.

Hillary had Imus’s friend Trump lobby to get Hillary on the show. No way, said Imus, and Trump reported back to Hillary’s people. The next day Media Matters seized on the first thing Imus said (“nappy headed ho’s” about Rutgers women’s basketball team beating another team by trash-talking them) and raised it into a racist moral complaint. In a few days Imus was gone from MSNBC and then from the radio. The point having been to prevent Obama from getting favorable interviews if Hillary couldn’t.

Anyway that’s a Media Matters Trump connection.

Given the current state of the WNBA infighting about Caitlin Clark….Imus may have been prescient.

Didn’t they go after Rush before that? Worked about as good as them taking a run at Rogan.

    Trump: please interview Hillary.
    Imus: no.
    Trump: okay.

And rhardin turns that conversation into a Hillary-Trump mob hitjob.

Trump was a friend to everybody, just doing what he was sent to do. He was part of a machination that Hillary was running against Obama at any cost, though, and the first action of Media Matters as far as I know.

      Hillary means dead bodies.

        “as far as I know”

Translation, “the dog ate my homework.”

So, it all reduces down to Tump being an innocent interlocutor and nothing more that.

Guilt by association is a game played by _____

What role did Trump play in the MM op? None that you cite. He carried a messages between Hillary and Imus. He had nothing to do with how MM handled Imus after that point. There is no connection between Trump and MM here. MM didn’t contact him, he did not report to MM, as you tell the story. Are you leaving something out? Did Hillary have a plan to cancel Imus if she didn’t get her interview? If so, was Trump aware of this plan?

Considering that Shapiro fully believes that Biden was elected in a free and fair election, Ben highlights how rabidly narrow minded Media Matters is.

Spoiler alert: The 2020 election was stolen. I’d have Shapiro explain why the old adage about “the straw that broke the camel’s back” couldn’t apply to the swing state shenanigans in the early hours of 11/4/2020.

Media matters is highly partisan outfit and it is past time they and other equally partisan hack outfits such as SPLC were treated with the contempt and irrelevance they deserve.

“A Pew Research survey discovered that 37% of Americans consume their news on YouTube.”

Why don’t they just go straight to TikTok, where they can watch it be delivered by humorous cartoon figures, like Kamala Possible?

Once again, any conservative whose comint depends on the kindness of his enemy is a dead man walking. Roosevelt didn’t use the German PTT to communicate with Churchill. Whining that it’s “too hard” to get the same eyeballs on a competing but sympathetic carrier (whether there is one or you have to make one) does zippo to add a minute more of existence to your bad business plan.
