‘Are You Kidding Me?’: Vance Unloads on Raddatz Over Venezuelan Gangs in Aurora, CO

Apparently, ABC’s Martha Raddatz thinks it’s no biggie that Venezuelan gangs took over only a “handful of apartments” in Aurora, CO.
Republican VP candidate Gov. JD Vance wasn’t having any of it:
RADDATZ: The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes and the mayor said, our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns. A handful of problems.
VANCE: Only? Martha, do you hear yourself? Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs and Donald Trump is the problem and not Kamala Harris’s open border? Americans are so fed up with what’s going on, and they have every right to be, and. I really find this exchange, Martha, sort of interesting because you seem to be more focused with nitpicking everything that Donald Trump has said, rather than acknowledging that.
Apartment complexes in the United States of America are being taken over by violent gangs. I worry so much more about that problem than anything else here. We’ve got to get American communities in a safe space again. And unfortunately, when you let people in by the millions, most of whom are unvetted, most of whom you don’t know who they really are. You’re going to have problems like this.
Kamala Harris, 94 executive orders that undid Donald Trump’s successful border policies. We knew this stuff would happen that’s, bragged about opening the border. And now we have the consequences. And we’re living with it. We can do so much better. But frankly, we’re not going to do better, Martha, unless Donald Trump calls this stuff out. I’m glad that he did.

I also find it interesting that the Aurora mayor disputes Trump about the Venezuelan gang because the police literally arrested members of the Tren de Aragua gang in connection with apartment takeovers.
The police literally said in September:
‘To date, APD has now linked 10 people to TdA and has arrested eight of those people. Two of the eight individuals who were taken into custody were involved in a July shooting at one of the specific properties in the city that have experienced issues with TdA activity.
‘In line with these arrests, we can also now confirm that criminal activity, including TdA issues, had significantly affected those properties.’

Strictly speaking the correct form of address for a former President is their highest other office held if any and Mr if not. So Carter, Clinton and Bush should be referred to as Governor while Obama should be referred to as Senator while Grant would be General.
The reason for this protocol is that President of the USA is a singular office. Lots of Senators and Governors, Generals, Ambassadors and Secretary both current and former. It doesn’t create any confusion nor very importantly IMO dilute the power/prestige of the office by allowing use. Same isn’t true for a unique office like President. Consider it like this, in a monarchy there’s one King in power at a time and anyone else claiming to be King is viewed as a usurper.
Of.course the media not following protocol for the past however many decades has pretty much made the correct protocol obsolete in common usage but it isn’t actually the correct form of address. Similar to the media misusing ‘democracy’ to describe our Republican form of National Govt, it begins as trickle then becomes a flood over time that obscures correct usage.
This is correct. Only the current person holding the office is addressed with the title while the former office holder is addressed either with the last office held or “Former President…” or Mr. “whoever”.

I’m sure you haven’t. As I pointed out the correct protocol for form of address has fallen into disuse over time. That failure to preserve the proper forms of address doesn’t change the correct forms.
For example an older unmarried female adult is properly referred to as a ‘spinster’. We don’t use the term anymore in common daily use but that’s the correct term. Same with the correct forms MRS/Miss transformed to MS.

Well, that’s true. Merely being here illegally is not a crime. Congress could make it a crime, but it hasn’t. Entering illegally is a crime, but until just a few years ago the majority of illegal immigrants entered legally.
