Kirby Somewhat Praises Israel, But Won’t Drop Calls for Ceasefire, Diplomacy

Again, I despise this administration so much.
National Security spokesman John Kirby made the rounds on the Sunday shows, somewhat praising Israel for taking out Hezbollah terrorists, but cannot drop the calls for diplomacy and ceasefires.
Again, you cannot negotiate with terrorists who are hellbent on your destruction and nothing else.
Kirby said, “I don’t think anybody is mourning the loss of Mr. Nasrallah, a known terrorist, a guy with American blood on his hands as well as Israeli blood on his hands. This is a terrorist organization. He was the leader of it. And I think people are safer without him walking around. But they’ll try to recover. We’re watching to see what they do to try to fill this leadership vacuum. It’s going to be tough that much of their command structure has now been wiped out.”
Host Jake Tapper said, “Before President Obama gave the order for Seal Team Six to go in and take out Bin Laden, there was talk of an airstrike against the compound and the decision to not do so because they weren’t sure about the intelligence and because they were worried about, Obama was worried about civilian casualties. The Israelis wanted a different direction. Obviously, their intelligence was solid, but do you think Israel made the right decision doing it the way they did it? ”
Kirby said, “I think having decimated the command structure of Hezbollah certainly works to the Israeli’s advantage. It’s actually good for the region, good for the world.”
He added, “The president continues to believe that there needs to be time and space for diplomacy, and that means we’d like to see a ceasefire in place so that, that diplomacy can breathe.”
Kirby didn’t stop on ABC, stressing the need for diplomacy. He brought up the G7 meeting, where those leaders agreed to a 21-day ceasefire.
Kirbyu thinks Israel should defend itself and also comply with a ceasefire.
Hezbollah would only agree to a ceasefire because it can reload. I give Martha Raddatz some credit because she reminded Kirby that Israel has made Hezbollah vulnerable:
RADDATZ: But they still have capability. I mean, do you have any estimate of long range missiles or how much firepower still remains?
KIRBY: I don’t think we have a clear picture of exactly how much capability they have, but you’re absolutely right. You can’t just count them all out. They still have quite a bit of capability left.
RADDATZ: And you, the U.S., and everyone in the administration has talked about de-escalating this conflict. Calming it down, tamping it down.
But let me ask you this. Why shouldn’t Israel at this point, when Hezbollah is so vulnerable when they’ve had so many people wiped out. Just go full bore after Hezbollah.
KIRBY: Look. I think to a degree, both things can be true. Martha. They have, Israel has a right and responsibility to eliminate this threat to their people and to their land.
To their sovereignty. It is a terrorist organization. They are still launching missiles and rockets. At Israel, and they have a right to be concerned about whatever infrastructure remains of Hezbollah. This is a well armed, well resourced group at the same time.
We believe that we do need to look for ways to de escalate the tensions to prevent this from coming an all out war, which is why the g seven nations got together the other night and called for a 21 day ceasefire to see if we can’t find time. And space for diplomacy to work. Both things can be true at the same time.
Diplomacy doesn’t work. What world do these people live in? The West tried diplomacy with Hitler and look at how that ended up. We used diplomacy with Stalin and look at how that ended up.

Retired USN Admiral and U.S. National Security spox John Kirby would have oh so much more respect for Israel if they would just willingly accept defeat at the hands of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the rest of the Iranian thugocracy. Any wonder America hasn’t really won a war in the last 30 years?

What Spokesman Kirby doesn’t want to admit: War IS Diplomacy. Yes, it’s LOUD diplomacy, but you have to admit it sends a more clear message than “Pretty please, we’ll reward you ahead of time to get you to stop being terroristy for a while.”
