Rutgers Prof Who Said Trump Shooting Should ‘Inspire Others’ Returning to Campus This Fall

“Todd Wolfson, president of the Rutgers AAUP-AFT faculty union, previously said the controversy over the professor’s comment was overblown.”

This professor made these comments right after the attempted assassination. Imagine if the politics were reversed and a prof said this about Obama. They would be unemployable right now.

NJ.com reports:

Rutgers prof who said Trump shooting should ‘inspire others’ will return to teaching

A Rutgers professor who said on social media that she hoped the attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump would “inspire others” will be teaching this fall, Rutgers officials said.

The university put assistant professor Tracy Budd — a non-tenure-track, full-time English professor in Rutgers’ writing program — under review after she allegedly posted comments on Facebook about the attack on Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in mid-July.

According to screen grabs of her social media account, she posted “Let’s hope today’s events inspire others,” and then added, “They shot his wig. Sad.”

Rutgers spokeswoman Megan Schumann said Budd is scheduled to teach this fall. She did not give any additional details about the university’s review of Budd and her social media comments, saying the university doesn’t comment on confidential personnel matters.

Budd did not immediately respond to a request to comment.

Rutgers faculty union officials said they were not notified by Rutgers about the situation and had no further comment.

Todd Wolfson, president of the Rutgers AAUP-AFT faculty union, previously said the controversy over the professor’s comment was overblown.

“At a broader level, it has to be said: this is another fabricated controversy cooked up by some right-wing Republicans who would never say anything about the stomach-turning things Donald Trump or J.D. Vance tweet all the time — including calling our members, who do the teaching and research at Rutgers, ‘the enemy,’” he said.

After Budd’s social media account drew attention in July, Rutgers released a statement saying the school condemns calls for violence and remains committed to civil discourse. “The university will be communicating the importance of civility in these challenging times,” the statement said.
