Report: Trump Campaign Hacked, Possibly By Iran

“On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘high ranking official’ on the U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a Vice Presidential nominee”

Trump’s campaign confirmed that internal communications were breached in a hack that they believe may involve Iran.

Fox News reports:

Former President Trump’s campaign confirmed to Fox News on Saturday that some of its internal communications were hacked.

Media company Politico had reached out to the campaign after the news outlet started receiving internal Trump documents.

“These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process,” said Steven Cheung, communications director for the Trump campaign.

“On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘high ranking official’ on the U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a Vice Presidential nominee,” he added.

Cheung noted that the hack allegedly by Iran came, “after recent reports of an Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump around the same time as the Butler, PA tragedy.”
He added: “The Iranians know that President Trump will stop their reign of terror just like he did in his first four years in the White House. Any media or news outlet reprinting documents or internal communications are doing the bidding of America’s enemies and doing exactly what they want.”

Politico has more:

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said Saturday that some of its internal communications had been hacked.

The acknowledgment came after POLITICO began receiving emails from an anonymous account with documents from inside Trump’s operation.

. . . . The documents sent to Politico included a “dossier” on Trump’s running mate JD Vance that dated back to February, the outlet said.

. . . . On July 22, POLITICO began receiving emails from an anonymous account. Over the course of the past few weeks, the person — who used an AOL email account and identified themselves only as “Robert” — relayed what appeared to be internal communications from a senior Trump campaign official. A research dossier the campaign had apparently done on Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, which was dated Feb. 23, was included in the documents. The documents are authentic, according to two people familiar with them and granted anonymity to describe internal communications. One of the people described the dossier as a preliminary version of Vance’s vetting file.

The research dossier was a 271-page document based on publicly available information about Vance’s past record and statements, with some — such as his past criticisms of Trump — identified in the document as “POTENTIAL VULNERABILITIES.” The person also sent part of a research document about Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who was also a finalist for the vice presidential nomination.

The person said they had a “variety of documents from [Trump’s] legal and court documents to internal campaign discussions.”

Asked how they obtained the documents, the person responded: “I suggest you don’t be curious about where I got them from. Any answer to this question, will compromise me and also legally restricts you from publishing them.”

The scope of the information obtained by the hacker is unclear. But it represents a major security breach for Trump’s campaign.

can’t rule out this came from within the US IC. after SpyGate, they’re always a chief suspect.

Iran? Yeah, right.

How long before a Leftist outlet publishes the hacked docs? You know, one of the Leftist outlets who refused to share info from Hunter’s laptop because “it was hacked.”

How long before a Leftist outlet proclaims that the Harris campaign is in bed with the Iranians? You know, like the MSM, which, while they were claiming the contents of Hunter’s laptop were hacked, were simultaneously blaming Russia for assisting Trump by creating “disinformation.”

The fun part is that we haven’t seen anything from these, yet. How much weight do I put on that meaning there isn’t anything there they can use?

his sounds to me like a justification for severing Iran’s Internet connections, a nice first start for their upcoming attitude adjustment.

Impossible… how could Iran, a close ally of Russia, compromise a “Russian Asset” in Trump?

CloudStrike up to their usual bullshit.

“I suggest you don’t be curious about where I got them from. Any answer to this question, will compromise me and also legally restricts you from publishing them.”

But that in itself is enough of an answer to prevent their publication.

Based on how the IC treated President Trump over the last 9 years, it will take a more than a statement that the irainians hacked Trump’s campaign. The IC cabal is more than capable of doing this type of covert operation. Just ask any reporter that was digging into the IC community over the last 16 years. FKH

Geez, I bet they found a bunch of memes about the Hawk Tuah girl.

Let’s hope it was the Harris campaign who hacked Trump’s election strategy and intend to use it as their own. It’s the only way Trump can win.

The Trump campaign does not “believe” the leaks may involve Iran. They know it is the product of surveillance by the FBI. However, ascribing it to foreign hackers is the exact same thing the Clinton campaign did when a staffer leaked DNC emails showing how Sanders was pushed out of the primaries.

Anyone associated with this “leak” can be potentially tainted by a Trump DoJ as an enemy agent for aiding and abetting Iran. Politico was caught off guard by the Trump campaign taking a page out of the Clinton playbook.

I wouldn’t be too critical of the Trump campaign IT security. Probably very difficult if not impossible to keep out the CIA hackers when they’re determined to gain access.

This “hack” may have been accomplished by spearfishing, which takes chutzpah but zero technical prowess. Someone in the organization may have given up a password, allowing a malicious actor access to the documents. It’s not rocket science.
