Philadelphia Mayor Claims Video Naming Gov. Shapiro as VP was to Show Support for Her Friend

Uh huh…sure. Whatever you say.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker caused a stir when she posted a video that appears to confirm Vice President Kamala Harris’s choice of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as her running mate.

A person close to Parker said, ”This is not an announcement of anything. This is just the mayor showing her support for a longtime friend who we know is one of the people being considered.”

Uh huh. Okay. But it’s not just the video. The tweet itself gives it away.

“Proud to be back with so many leaders from across our region supporting @KamalaHarris for President and @JoshShapiroPA for VP! We are One CITY, One REGION, and ONE Commonwealth United!”

After a few people lavish praise on Harris, Parker then says, “I can’t think of a better partner than our governor, Josh Shapiro.”

The video turns its attention to Shapiro, propping him up as the perfect sidekick for Harris. They promote his policies for the working class and set standards for progressive leadership.

It ends with people saying they’re for Kamala Harris for president and Josh Shapiro for vice president.

Yeah, you cannot spin it.

I mean, I can’t think of a better choice for Harris. Shapiro puts Pennsylvania in play for her. He canceled a bunch of fundraisers over the weekend.

Shapiro planned on three appearances in the Hamptons to fundraise for his own campaign.

“The governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fund-raisers for his own campaign committee,” said Manuel Bonder, a spokesman for Shapiro. “His schedule has changed, and he is no longer traveling to the Hamptons this weekend.”

So … that whole ad was created just to run once or twice?? It’s certainly possible since it’s not their money they’re spending. Stupid, but possible.

Meanwhile, Cherrelle Parker looks like he could be boxing women in Paris this week. Philadelphia mayors just keep getting worse and worse and worse. You would think there is a limit to how bad they can be …. but, no.

“Yeah, you cannot spin it.”

Really? Sounds to me like SHE’S boosting Shapiro — she and a bunch of her local friends. Nowhere does it even hint that he was Kamala’s choice.

Have to say I agree. ‘Josh Shapiro for VP’ is ambiguous but it doesn’t necessarily indicate that she knows he’s been chosen vs simply endorsing him as a potential VP choice.

Has Harris even filed her own FEC campaign paperwork yet? Maybe that should be the priority for them. That and fending off the law fare about access/control of the Biden campaign funds.

lefty is in control

Sure. Pick the guy with sexual harassment issues. And the arch enemy of progressives over Israel.

God I hope it is Shapiro.

I would love for the left’s open Jew hatred to explode.

Me too. If Shapiro is the VP candidate, Dearborn and Minneapolis Muslims will stay home and not vote.

He “set standards for progressive leadership” That sounds more like a threat than a compliment.

The TV series Veep has fallen into Blazing Saddles territory – you couldn’t make it today. It got its humor by mocking what the voters would fall for, via the portrayed experts in that in what voters would fall for, and the experts’ flaws.

The moron voters today are explicitly blacks and women and any experts on them would be explicitly racist and sexist.

I recommend the TV series, by the way.

I tried to watch that series – Veep. More than once. I was completely unable. It was just dumb. They were trying to mock Sarah Palin to begin with – I assume that was their genesis, given the timing – but the show was not funny and did not even qualify as mockery. It was just boring and stupid.

I have no idea what people saw in that series – either way. It was just, plain dull and seriously unfunny.

I can’t think of a better choice for Harris. Shapiro puts Pennsylvania in play for her.

Far more likely fraud carries the Queen over the finish line. But putting that aside: the last time a VP candidate credibly helped the top of the ticket carry a particular state was Johnson in 1960. I am not convinced Gore helped Clinton carry Tennessee, especially since Gore lost that state when he ran in 2000 as the nominee.

For the most part the VP nominee barely does anything.

I can’t look at any picture of Cherelle Parker without thinking she’s Aunt Esther.

“Shapiro planned on three appearances in the Hamptons to fundraise for his own campaign.”

uh… is there another “the Hamptons” in Pennsylvania I do not know about? Why is the governor of PA attending multiple fundraisers in the ritzy part of NY state?

Chuck Skinner in reply to Morning Sunshine. | August 3, 2024 at 6:40 am

For the purposes of raising Democrat money, of course. He could be arrogant enough to think that the Democrat party might have abandoned Kamala Harris and that he could ride the chaos to become the nominee.

Nowhere does it say that you can only raise money locally, and depending on the fundraising vehicle used, Shapiro could potentially bank that money in a SuperPAC for his own future campaigns.

Why is the governor of PA attending multiple fundraisers in the ritzy part of NY state?

Why not? That’s where the donors are. People have a constitutional right to donate to any campaign anywhere in the USA (and indeed the world), and no candidate in his right mind would not go after their donations.

That mayor looks like an extra for the family in Eddie Murphy’s The Nutty Professor, honestly.

I had family that lived in Philly and visited many times over the years. It was a s***hole in the 1970s and that downward trend has only deepened in the intervening half century. There is no policy whatsoever in that city, and no politician from that city that should be exported outside of its city limits. I dare say that if Benjamin Franklin could see what has become of his beloved home I think he would have decided not to start a city fire department.

Kamala losing michigan.

Dems convention ready to riot.
