Penn State Student Facing Federal Charges Over Alleged Ties to ISIS

“is alleged to have uploaded over 200 terrorism-related manuals to various online chat groups”

This story is insane. If guilty, the student is facing deportation to Russia.

FOX 8 in Pennsylvania reports:

Penn State Student Facing Federal Charges

Federal authorities say a student at Penn State’s Abington campus has been indicted after being accused of lying to the FBI about his supposed ties to “ISIS sympathizers.”

According to federal documents, Kamal Fataliev, a Russian national, is alleged to have uploaded over 200 terrorism-related manuals to various online chat groups.

Investigators say officials learned of Fataliev’s alleged terrorist connections during the FBI’s investigation into an apparent terror attack in Chicago last year.

Authorities claim that the foiled plot led to a search of Fataliev’s Philadelphia-area apartment, where agents discovered hundreds of copies of weapons and explosives manuals.

Investigators say agents also uncovered several online posts where Fataliev allegedly “demonstrated his support for violence on behalf of ISIS.”

Authorities say Fataliev reportedly admitted to making the posts but later told officials that he had “abandoned his radicalism.”

“abandoned his radicalism.”
Oh, yah, sure, then. Just fine.
Now you can stay not radicalized in Russia.

(Though, as with the Pakistani dude, what are the odds this was at least partly a “known wolf” that they decided to throw under the bus because “We need to look like we’re doing something right”?)
