Olympics: Two Men Will Compete for the Gold in Two Female Boxing Divisions

It happened.

Taiwanese male boxer Lin Yu-Ting advanced to the gold medal round in the female featherweight boxing division.

He is the second male in a gold medal round. Male boxer Imane Khelif will fight for the gold in the female welterweight division.

Two males are guaranteed at least a silver in female boxing.

Yu-Ting defeated Turkey’s Esra Yildiz Kahraman.

Yu-Ting faces Poland’s Julia Szeremeta on Saturday.

Kahraman held her own, thank goodness, but “the judges awarded Yu-Ting the win with each of them scoring the fight 10-9.”

FairPlayWomen has a thread of the fight. Unlike their tweets of Khelif’s fight, X has not removed them…yet.

Jennifer Sey, a national gymnast champion and founder of the XX-XY clothing company, announced the company started The XX-XY Athletics Fund:

We created this fund to help women & girls who bravely stand down & refuse to compete against males. You can contribute directly to it xx-xyathletics.org, but also, w/ every purchase of XX-XY Athletics, portion of proceeds goes to the fund.
