NYC Illegal Alien Crisis ’23-’24 Combined Costs Likely to Hit $5 Billion
The costs could likely double in 2025.

The New York Post discovered New York City has spent almost $5,000,000,000 on its illegal alien crisis in 2023 and 2024.
The city might face double that amount in 2025.
How’s this for perspective: The NYPD budget is $5.75 billion.
From The New York Post:
The eye-popping figures, listed on the city’s online asylum-seeker funding tracker, shows the city overall spent $4.88 billion combined through fiscal years 2023 and ‘24. Based on the rate of spending, the city likely exceeded more than $112 million since the start of the new fiscal year beginning July 1, or will soon, cracking $5 billion.
Mayor Eric Adams’ administration has even projected the cost could double, hitting $10 billion over the three year period ending June 30, 2025.
The city spent money on:
- $1.98 billion on housing and rent.
- About $2 billion on services and supplies.
- Nearly $500 million on food and medical costs.
- Another $500 million on IT, administrative and other costs.
The NYPD shelled out “$21 million on public safety and security costs amid mayhem breaking out in and around the city-funded” illegal alien shelters.
The Department of Homeless Services has two new contracts for a combined $40 million to contractors to help illegal aliens at hotels the city turned into shelters.
The city has 63,900 illegal aliens at
The Broadway tourist district saw some hotels turned into shelters, too.
This is insane:
Housing Works was awarded a $13.4 million contract to aid migrants at the City View Inn, at 3317 Greenpoint Avenue in Long Island.
A worker answering the phone there Tuesday said the City View has been a shelter for “nearly two years” and is still not taking reservations for lodging.
The city pays for all the rooms.
A second $26.3 million contract was awarded to the DC-based Project Redirect to assist migrants at Spring Hills Suites by Marriott at 140-35 Queens Boulevard.
“We’re not functioning at a hotel right now,” a worker there said.

no wonder they dont want to prosecute
they are trying to save taxpayer money
GOOD.
Keep giving them exactly what they claimed to want.
Send 5 million more.
It’s easy to be a New England “sanctuary” city when the illegals are stuffed into Texas.
It is good to share!
I was in the NY area last week, and I had to screen hotels for “migrant” use beforehand. One in five hotels in NYC are now holding pens for illegals, people getting stabbed with increasing regularity.
Destroying cities. That’s what Democrat socialism does.
You mean the amount of money it would’ve taken to fund the wall on the border?
Sort of, but building the wall would have been a one-time expense and this is recurring every single year and increasing every single year. Communists are really stupid when it comes to money
keep it up …. not 5 million more
10 million … they voted for this
give it to them good and hard and often ….
play stupid games .. win stupid prizes.
They did more than ask for it, they foisted illegals on all of us.
Wow, Abbott and DeSantis pretty much tagged Adams right in the keister, didn’t they? How’s that ‘sanctuary city’ deal working out for you, hot shot?
Mass deportations before mass you-know-what.
Enough is enough. This is not compassion,
Compassionate enemas’
It’s national suicide.
Meanwhile in Massachusetts:
Cash-Strapped Sanctuary State On Track For Record Number Of Deportation Cases
“I want to be clear, particularly to people outside of Massachusetts who may have gotten word that this is a place to come, that we do not have room here in Massachusetts,” Healey said during a July press conference”
Hey, “Sanctuary” Maura — who was it who told them to come in the first place?
Don’t you love it when a plan comes together, and completely predicable results come to life?
Democrats are simply too stupid to have any responsibility.
Congratulations to New York City for getting exactly what they voted for. They should be ecstatic
I have to say that Abbott and DeSantis gave the country a nice wake up call for November by giving the illegals to the sanctuary cities that wanted them!! I could feel the seething undercurrent of rage in NY and NJ last week.
Remember in November.
As others have stated the bills for the endless virtue signaling are now, in part, being borne by the very folks who demanded it. When the costs were largely confined to border communities and rural States these ‘in this house we believe..’ sorts could continue their condescending attitudes about the rest of the Nation. Thanks to Abbott and DeSantis thinking outside the box to find a way to underline the costs of illegal immigrants today the residents of ‘sanctuary cities’ such as NYC, Chicago, Denver among others are dealing with huge costs. Not just financial support but rising crime, crowded schools, overburdened public services….all the same problems they foisted upon border communities and rural States then cheered as they did so while sneering at any who objected as full of ‘ists and isms’. Past time the bad consequences of stupid policy choices fall upon the ‘Rich Men North of Richmond’ for a change. Seems they don’t like it but we find out how much or little in Nov, but I suspect they won’t deviate from their stupidity.
nope … the ballots are already printed….
Insane that any jurisdiction is spending more than $0 on this.
With the exception of any illegals actually incarcerated or being physically deported, no government agency is ever actually responsible for feeding or housing (or giving any of the other infinite benefits they are currently giving) any person illegally present in our country.
First step in actually stopping this invasion is really simple: Stop subsidizing it.
