Why Are Trump-Hating Democrats Being Considered for the Investigation of Trump Assassination Attempt?

Congress is putting together a bipartisan commission to investigate the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. The House voted 416-0 for its creation. Yet for some reason, Democrats want Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) to be on the panel.
Thompson served as the chairman of the January 6th Committee. He also recently had to fire a staffer who made inflammatory remarks about the attempt on Trump’s life. Most importantly, Thompson tried to strip Trump of Secret Service protection.
Why is he even being considered for this position?

House Democrats are pushing to have the former Jan. 6 Committee chairman who sought to strip former President Donald Trump of his security detail earlier this year serve on a bipartisan commission investigating the recent assassination attempt.
On Tuesday, Punchbowl News reported that former Jan. 6 Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., is one top candidate Democrats are considering for an appointment to the 11-person panel established by House leadership.
“House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries can choose five Democrats to serve along with six Republicans,” Punchbowl reported. “Democrats are still sorting through potential candidates. But one name we’ve heard is Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.). Thompson is the top Democrat on the House Homeland Security panel and chaired the Jan. 6 Committee.”
In the spring, however, Thompson introduced legislation to leave Trump vulnerable to assassination with the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act (HR 8081). The bill, proposed in April, would have terminated Secret Service protection for otherwise qualified candidates who are convicted of a felony.
And it’s not just Thompson. Democrats also want Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), another Trump-hating Democrat, to serve on the commission.

The office of a House Democrat who played a prominent role in former President Trump’s first impeachment is now pushing back against GOP-fueled criticism that he should not be on the task force investigating the attempted assassination of the former president.
Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., who came under fire last year for saying that Trump “has to be eliminated,” is among the Democrats being considered for a place on the bipartisan commission to study the July 13 shooting at Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania, rally, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital.
“As someone with a lifelong commitment to democracy and the rule of law, Congressman Goldman immediately clarified a misstatement from last November to emphasize his strong condemnation of all political violence. The Congressman demonstrated with pointed questioning during congressional hearings last week that the Secret Service must be held accountable for its unacceptable security lapse, and he is determined to ensure such a failure never happens again,” Goldman’s spokesperson Madison Andrus told Fox News Digital.
To their credit, some Republicans are pushing back on this.
This should be an easy fight for the GOP. Just say no.

Do I correctly recall that Pelosi dictated which Republicans would be acceptable to serve on the J-6 committee? If so, it seems to be a protocol to fit this investigation.

This. They’re trying to goad the Republicans into forbidding them from the committee so they can have the talking point that the Republicans “stack” committees like they’ve already done.
The reason is simple. Neither Republicans or Democrats are permitted by the Intelligence Agencies from exposing the government’s Fourth Branch inner workings, and Thompson is just the guy who knows how to spike the tires. They can preen and posture to their heart’s desire but are in no way permitted to conduct any meaningful investigation.
Once again, they intend to get to the bottom of nothing. Just like the 911 Commission, Benghazi, Fast & Furious, IRS targeting Tea Party, FBI RussiaGate, FBI FISA abuses, and the most recent Weaponization of Government.
Per the Pelosi Rule, republicans are allowed to appoint democrats of their choosing to seats on investigatory commissions.

Why don’t they simply do what the J6 hoaxers did, and appoint the Democrats THEY want to see on the committee, and tell Hakeem to go pound sand?
