Olympics Opening Ceremony Mocks Christianity With a Drag Last Supper

Olympics Opening Ceremony Mocks Christianity With a Drag Last Supper

It’s hard to offend me. The best way to offend me is to degrade my religion, especially the most sacred and important part of it.

I’m tired of people mocking Christians.

I’m Catholic, but the Olympics opening ceremony should tick off any Christian.

Of course these people ridicule us because they knew we wouldn’t cut off their heads.

I’d tell the French, “Now do Mohammed,” but they already did. Muslims shot up Charlie Hebdo over its cartoon of Mohammed.

The ceremony mocked Christians with a drag Last Supper, which takes place on Holy Thursday during Holy Week.

Holy Thursday is one of the most important days in the Catholic calendar.

Catholics do not have Mass again until the Easter Vigil. On Good Friday, we have a liturgy.

Holy Thursday commemorates the Washing of the Feet, the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, and the sacrament of the priesthood. It’s also when He predicted His betrayal.

Catholics celebrate the Last Supper at every Mass as part of the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

In this last supper, the dish is a blue….thing.

They degrade the most sacred part of our religion…receiving the Blood and Body of Christ. Christ fulfills His promise to always be with us:

In the Eucharist the Church both receives the gift of Jesus Christ and gives grateful thanks to God for such a blessing. This thanksgiving is the only proper response, for through this gift of himself in the celebration of the Eucharist under the appearances of bread and wine Christ gives us the gift of eternal life.

John 6:53-57:

Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. . . . Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.

After the Last Supper, Jesus and his Disciples walk to the Mount of Olives, where Judas betrays Him.

The cup Jesus used is known as the Holy Grail.

The “ceremony” was filthy.

“We won’t cut off their heads…”

Perhaps we should start speaking their language.

No worries….. as the demographics in France change, such scenes will disappear, not because they mock Christianity, but being gay/trans will find them on the top of the Eiffel Tower for flying lessons. Give it time…. soon their time will be up.

It won’t happen soon enough for me. I am looking forward to the Islamization of Europe.

But please, Frogs, don’t call the US for help. We’ve bailed your sorry asses out of the fire too many times.

      Said it. Meant it.

Not me. There are people trying to stand against it, and I am rooting for them. They don’t deserve the horror of an islamic takeover, and we surely wouldn’t want to deal with a whole islamic Europe. But, it seems too many Europeans are still asleep, and their globalist governments are not on the side of the citizens.

While I may agree with you, who exactly puts their globalist government in place? They did. Across the board.

These people have used the US as their private protection force so they can spend indiscriminately on social crap.

I say we leave, and let the sand band take over. They asked for it.

Nothing gets people’s attention like having to live with their stupid decisions.

I wonder how their new, very vocal, Muslim majority feels about this….

These cretins give Pole Vaulting a new meaning.

I have no qualms with the gay community. Who people choose as their partners is their choice. But the moment they mock religion, it becomes difficult to support many of them.

I have plenty of “qualms” with the gay community

      They did this

When someone tells you who they are

      Believe them…

nordic prince in reply to AF_Chief_Master_Sgt. | July 27, 2024 at 8:17 am

They already insulted many with their mockery of marriage. Then they moved on to mocking parenting, “birthing persons,” what a true man or true woman is, etc. Did you think their mockery would stop there?

AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to nordic prince. | July 27, 2024 at 8:49 am

I said I have no qualms about who people choose as their partners, especially their sexual partners.

I then said “when they mock religion” I include marriage as a religious sacrament.

Christianity also establishes that God made a man and a woman. So, my comment includes the difference between the sexes.

The Bible tells us that we are to “go forth and multiply.” Christians believe that the procreation of the species honors the fact that we were made in God’s image.

Therefore, my comment included what you believe I excluded.

But it not my position to insert myself into someone’s heart and mind.

That’s God’s job to sort them out.

A truly repulsive display. Intentionally insulting and provocative, far worse than the Bud light garbage. I’m disinclined to watch any events now.

Libertarian triumphalism is gauche and weirdly disturbing.

DaveGinOly in reply to Tiki. | July 27, 2024 at 1:02 am

Why would you call this “libertarian”? I’m a libertarian. I’m also an atheist. I think people who believe in a sky god are loopy. But I’m offended by this (as I am offended by the commercialization of Christmas and its transformation into a mere “holiday,” with “Happy Holidays”). It’s an assault on Western civilization and its values. (Yes, I know the values come from the dominant religion, Christianity. But because I don’t believe in god, I think all religion is a human construct, therefore all of its teachings come from man, not god. So I’m not separating the values from their source – god – because I don’t believe such a source exists. Instead, I recognize that the values are human creations, and I am not separating them from their source, but rather recognizing their source. I’m saying this here because the usual response from people is “You want to separate the values from their source – god.” And this is, by my way of thinking, not so. It is not necessary for me to do that because a god who does not exist can’t be the source of our values.)

Our values made us what we were (or were supposed to be) as a nation. This sort of offensive display is meant to normalize the destruction of our civilization. This is not acceptable.

CommoChief in reply to Tiki. | July 27, 2024 at 6:27 am

This is an example of libertine cultural anarchists not libertarianism. There’s a difference between the two.

Libertarians ain’t hostile to religion. Libertarians defend your right to hold, express and practice your religious belief/faith. Libertarians understand that individual rights are complemented by cultural taboos which often stem from religion. No need for a govt edict enhancing the power of the State when old fashioned ‘shame’ by the community works to accomplish the same ends.

The folks who hold Libertine views are cultural anarchists who seek to destroy our Western cultural framework of a balance of rights, duties and responsibilities. Instead they want what they want and everything and everyone else can go hang. These folks are not libertarian.

Tiki in reply to CommoChief. | July 27, 2024 at 7:00 am

Good lord. How in the world did you divine all of that from “triumphalism” and “gauche and weirdly disturbing?”

CommoChief in reply to Tiki. | July 27, 2024 at 7:37 am

Your post seems to be pretty clearly (but very inaccurately) ascribing this episode at the Olympics to libertarianism. If that’s not the case then simply clarify your post by making an unequivocal statement that this wasn’t your intention and then explain which political philosophy you do ascribe it.

FWIW I agree it is ‘weirdly distributing’. The ‘triumphal’ nature is definitely present. After all this was part of the opening ceremony and officially sectioned by the Olympic Committee and indirectly authorized by the Nations participating. IMO this triumphalism is representative of the provocative cultural degeneracy ascendant throughout the West where any/all those who oppose Western traditions legal, religious, cultural or otherwise are celebrated.

Yet you don’t explain why you chose to include ‘libertarian’ while you now claim you didn’t wish to take a swipe at libertarianism v libertine. Maybe your nanny can explain it to you.

I’m a Jew, not terribly religious, but in ’40s Europe I’d have wound up in a camp and, at first, I found the “display” disgusting – to put it mildly – and then I remembered, this is France – and then I remembered France is now an Islamic state: churches have been turned into mosques.
Should I really expect anything different‽

    I didn’t mind the gays of the ’50s – I found them – amusing.
They kept their private perversions – well, private.
They didn’t continually slam/slap me in the face with their deviancies – like a stinking, wet dishtowel.
If you continue to assault me, I’m going to respond: I don’t know my breaking point – and I don’t know how much of a gentleman I’ll be when I do respond…
Tone it down, guys/gays – for your own sake.

Would they dared to mock Islam the same way? Um, I don’t think so.

I wonder if our [woke] Pope will have anything to say about this?

healthguyfsu | July 26, 2024 at 10:05 pm

I’m as agnostic as they come and pretty nonchalant about faith and this one comes off as incredibly crude and unbecoming of an international prestigious competition that is supposed to unify the world rather than divide it.

Seriously, who tf are these people and where did they learn about basic tact and decorum?

Damn! I’ve loved the summer and winter Olympics since I was a little kid. Billy Kidd, Jimmy Heuga, Bill Marolt, and Buddy Werner at Innsbruck in 1964. Jean Claude Killy sweeping the alpine events in Val d’ Isere in 1968. Don Schollander and Mark Spitz in the pool. I could go on and on. I ran cable TV into my bathroom so I could watch the Barcelona games in 1992 while showering before work. All over for me now.

What in the hell? What does insulting the faith of over 2 billion Christians have to do at all with a sporting event? Insane. If the Paris committee wanted to be all woke and cutting edge why didn’t they have a skit showing Mohammad being sodomize by a camel? They would have seen cutting edge for certain.

E Howard Hunt | July 26, 2024 at 10:12 pm

The United States should never have entered WW2. It gave us the cold war and a godless Europe populated by savages.

Smite them, O Lord so that vultures may pick clean their bones. Let those bones be ground to dust and spread amongst noxious weeds and briars. Let salt fall there so no life remains. Send your angels to bring forth a sirocco to wipe away any trace of them. Set aside goblets of dog piss for their banquet in Hell. This I pray.

There, now I feel better.

The French are well aware that insulting Islam would bring a violent response by the Muslims, so it beyond me why they would insult any religion especially at the opening of the Olympics. Why were some characters dressed like a grim reaper? The whole opening was sick, I am not going to tune in and watch.

So hip they are, these Olympians. The Olympics has become a SCAM, nothing to do with its intended spirit and everything to do with performative fakery and pretend goodwill.

Low risk showing intolerance and mocking Christians. They will not engage in barbarsim. Alas, the anti-Christians offer much worse.

Almost makes me support the Muslim conquerors

Just when I think I’ve seen the bottom of the barrel, something like this crawls out. Pathetic.

BigRosieGreenbaum in reply to Tiki. | July 27, 2024 at 12:30 am

Hmmm, this whole display is really unsettling. This type of imagery has been going on for some time now during public official ceremonies.

henrybowman in reply to BigRosieGreenbaum. | July 28, 2024 at 3:34 am

Naomi Wolf writes in her substack today that also included in the opening ceremonies was: “Opening TV animation for Olympics has some animated balloon travelling past the Statue of Liberty and she is beaten, battered, and has bullet holes in her.” This was done with Jill Biden in the audience, who had not the grace to leave at this insult to the USA as any responsible state representative would have done.

One marvels at France’s determination to piss off all their allies at once.

DaveGinOly in reply to Tiki. | July 27, 2024 at 1:16 am

Wow. I just saw a few seconds of a clip of the opening ceremonies that was posted in reply to that tweet. A totally unnecessary and offensive sexualization of the ceremony, that would have been offensive even without the trannies and gays. They aren’t even the point. This level of offense could have been generated by (straight) modern pop and rap stars.

Repetition of history. In the French Revolution over 30,000 priests were exiled hundreds more killed. Thousands of Catholics were slaughtered during the terror. The new regime tried to wipe out any trace of Christianity.

Similar situation at the start of the Spanish Civil War where the leftists murdered hundreds of priests and nuns as well as thousands of Christians. Although in the case of Spain the leftists paid a terrible price after their defeat as thousands were executed for their crimes and tens of thousands imprisoned (again for their rape and pillage).

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to Mauiobserver. | July 27, 2024 at 4:24 am

The new regime tried to wipe out any trace of Christianity.

They even tried to change the calendar, changing to 10-day weeks, in large part so that Christians would find it very difficult to keep track of their weeks and the Sabbath and the like.

But mainly because they were in the throes of The Science™ — in this case, their iconoclastic, reformational fever for all things metric, which (just like Abe SImpson’s belt onion) was the fashion at the time. Unfortunately, the earth’s rotation and orbital period do not conspire to mesh in any power of ten, and never will.

CommoChief in reply to Mauiobserver. | July 27, 2024 at 11:26 am

To be fair the Catholics (or at some of those who called themselves Catholics) did have a head start on intolerance v dissenting philosophies that frequently led to violent suppression by ‘Catholics’. Lots of blood spilled, empires won/lost, treasure plundered, people subjugated by ‘Catholics’ well before the cultural anarchists arrived on scene.

Vomit inducing blasphemy. It’s ironic given LI just had the https://legalinsurrection.com/2024/07/removal-of-pride-and-blm-flags-at-u-south-florida-st-petersburg-outrages-students/ article.

The sheer blindness of such folk is awe inspiring. I’d recommend flag burning, but nobody should waste their money on such things. Of course the privileged types would scream about their sacred symbols being desecrated whilst defending actual desecration.

I made the Hebdo connection myself, but these organisers are clearly your classic courageous Leftists who will offend those who will not respond like Muslims do.

On the other hand not being Roman Catholic I didn’t know the Holy Week details – thank you Wikipedia, or how this all connects to Roman Catholicism. France being a (historically and culturally) Roman Catholic country, this makes sense, and just exacerbates the offensiveness. All Christians, and all those who respect Jesus, or simply value respect, should be outraged by this.

But as always, if not for double standards the Left would have none, so expect them to defend this to the death of everyone else.

… and I thought that the Olympics Opening ceremonies had hit a sure bottom in London, with the fawning tribute to socialized medicine and nurses dancing on hospital beds. I mean, how could you get any worse or any stupider than that??

Well … the French showed me!!

I didn’t suffer through watching either opening ceremony (other than clips I see posted) and I haven’t followed an Olympics since that pathetic sh*tshow in Seoul, SOuth Korea, where I lost all respect for Korean culture. They were the worst.

And, nowadays, you can see the “Olympic” sports pretty much any time you want. Everything has professional leagues that are available to watch all season. No need for the Olympics to see wrestling or swimming or gymnastics or skiing (for the winter version) …

Dare the Cultural Marxists to mock Islam at the end

The Olympics and NBC have been so tightly coupled since 1964, I can’t help but wonder if NBC has majority control of the opening ceremonies and general theme of the show.

It’s just an off (TV) season filler for them, and they’ve trained folks since the Boomer days to be in awe of the “majesty” of the games. NBC is creepy – think Matt Lauer with his remote office-door lock. Probably not too different from Disney (ABC) when it comes to the mindset of its programmers.

All the Olympics are is a Program. They allow professional athletes, trans athletes?, break dancing as a “sport”, etc.

Program. Programming. Hmm, sounds like mind control. Brainwashing. No, it couldn’t be, can it? TV programs, including the Olympics, used to program our minds? Preposterous! Sorry, Synchronized Swimming is coming on, gotta run.

RepublicanRJL | July 27, 2024 at 6:50 am

I have not watched the Olympics in decades except for when Michael Phelps was going for more gold.

I have no plans on watching them this year.

I’ve walked out of movies where the Lord’s name was taken in vain. I make no excuses and will continue to respect the Lord.

Rule 50, IOC

“No kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas.”

This was a clear violation of their own rules..I am appalled, but not surprised.

All the reasons for the olympics to exist have disappeared with time. Its become political. It is no longer limited to amateurs.. The minor sports that were never typically televised, can now be watched any time on the internet. It is possible to watch ski jumping vids on youtube right now in the summer time, for example. Turning the olympics into gay festival is final death blow for ratings.

Boycott with viewership.

It’s now an international political chest-thumping contest, and has been for decades. Same as the Nobel Prizes. Conquest’s Second Law strikes again.

If they hadn’t done something stupid, I wouldn’t have even known that the games had begun.

One of the benefits uncorded and turning off subscriptions.

The 1924 Olympics was the era of “Chariots of Fire”. A century later and Western Decay is obvious. A new Dark Age is coming.

“The [Paris Olympics] opening ceremony mocked Christians . . . .”
The question is, Why did they do that???

From what I can see, it’s a matter of the weird/you-gotta-accept-and-lift-us-up part of the LGB etc. spectrum continuing to disrespect and even attempt to subjugate the G-d-respecting portion of the general population.

The folks in this part of LGB etc. spectrum like to think of themselves as courageous. Yet, as
scooterjay noted at July 26, 2024 at 9:10 pm,
they ignore, and even support, the Allah Akbar people and attack us (i.e., the cultural descendants of Moses) because we won’t cut off their heads or toss them from rooftops.

While we won’t resort to that, perhaps we should completely avoid giving responsibility with respect to anything we care about to any person in the weird/you-gotta-accept-and-lift-us-up part of the LGB etc. spectrum.

Olympics is required to be religious neutral.

Somebody needs to be fired.

Me: “You’re French, so why didn’t you do a mockery of Joan of Arc to tie in with French culture?”

France: “Our cathedrals are empty. Not many Christians left here so, yeah, we’ll just go ahead and mock Christ.”

Me: “Well if you’re going to mock religion, why don’t you mock Muhammud?”

France: “Uh mmm. No comment.”

I admittedly had no intention of watching the Olympics. But my oldest daughter was a competitive gymnast in her school days, inspired by Nadia Comaneci [who happily was in the Opening Ceremonies], and this is going to be the last competitive appearance of another of her heroines, Simone Biels. So I guess we will all watch woman’s gymnastics. But that is all.

I am getting old. My father fought his way across France into Germany in 1944-45, in the process earning his citizenship. I have had thoughts of visiting Europe and following the trail of his division. While it was less likely as I age, I think it can be ruled out now. No American should be spending money in France. And I shall recommend such to others.

France has chosen its course, politically and socially. May they be happy with it and not expect any support from us. We long ago paid them back for Lafayette.

I’ve been in AA for almost 17 years and the dependence on a higher power is a central theme. Lifetime prejudices against organized religion can impede that and it can espcially rankle folks with an atheistic bent. A lot of times he or she might drop the debate club in order to not die, which is good, but the G word has run many people out.

Many of the atheists I have been around consider themselves very intelligent and open minded. They say there is no God period. But it usually doesn’t end there with them. The active scorning of religion but mostly Christianity is necessary and typically where their heart really is — far from any simple lack of belief in the unseen.

#boycott-olympics

I didn’t read this post at the time, because I have no interest at all in the Olympics, and thus hadn’t seen the performance being criticized. But I have since seen convincing evidence that the entire hoo-ha was based on ignorance of art. The tableau was not a parody of The Last Supper but a representation of The Feast of the Gods, a famous painting of the Olympian gods that is in a French museum.
