Northwestern University Police Arrest Four Educators for Obstructing Law Enforcement During Pro-Palestine Encampment

“While the University permits peaceful demonstrations, it does not permit activity that disrupts University operations, violates the law, or includes the intimidation or harassment of members of the community”

Wow. Campus leftists suffering consequences. Who knew such a thing was possible?

WBEZ News reports:

Northwestern police arrest four educators, months after pro-Palestinian encampment

Northwestern University Police arrested and charged four educators for allegedly obstructing law enforcement at the Palestinian solidarity encampment on the Evanston campus in late April.

The misdemeanor charges come months after the encampment was dismantled through an agreement between protesters and university leaders.

“It’s a pretty mind-blowing experience to have your employer send their own police after you to arrest you within your place of employment,” said Alithia Zamantakis, an assistant professor at Northwestern’s Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing — and one of the faculty members facing charges.

Court records show the educators were arrested earlier this month and released from custody on the same day of their arrests.

“While the University permits peaceful demonstrations, it does not permit activity that disrupts University operations, violates the law, or includes the intimidation or harassment of members of the community,” University spokesperson Jon Yates said in an email.

Yates said the university would not discuss individual cases. The charges have been filed with the Cook County State’s Attorney. A representative from that office said they could not comment on pending litigation.

Members of the campus chapter of Educators for Justice in Palestine said the four individuals arrested by campus police include two professors, a graduate worker and a librarian.

Yates said they face Class A misdemeanor charges, which carry a sentence of up to one year in prison and a $2,500 fine.

“The job of any faculty member … is to support the ongoing development of research and learning on this campus. And … it felt like I was being told that this is not a place of education, but a place where people should listen and follow orders,” Zamantakis said.

If you commit crimes at your workplace, what else do you expect your employer to do?

“an assistant professor at Northwestern’s Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing”

Statement assumes facts not in evidence (an existing mind to be blown).

Seriously? Universities, corporations, government offices, all for some reason they sign on to this inexplicable fad to create a brand new Department of Crazy People… then they complain because the pudding cups in the break-room fridge are being stolen and replaced with pipe bombs.

Agreed. The air of privilege apparently has so transcended thought in academia that many in academia believe that they need to destroy others that hold more centered opinions.

And not to commit any crimes while doing so.

Not that I see what kind of research or learning was supposed to be going on at the encampment.

I bet there was plenty of research in the campgrounds at night. Remember he was
an assistant professor at Northwestern’s Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing” I would bet a good number of the male protesters were there more for the after dark research than to advocate for Palestinians.

Centuries old common sense, which had mysteriously and inexplicably became misplaced over the past 15 or so years, was recovered last month by forensic administrators at our beloved local university…

Any bets on Kim Foxx, the Cook County State’s Attorney, declining to prosecute them?
