Newsom Jumps on Kamala Presidential Bandwagon With Endorsement, Puts Own Ambition on Pause

But for how long? There are those on the Democratic side who are still dreaming of someone other than Harris at the top of the ticket.

In just about 100 days, the American voters will go to their polling stations and make their choices for President.

In the wake of Biden’s removing himself from the race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to be officially named the new candidate, there was speculation that California Gov. Gavin Newsom might be a potential candidate.

However, like many other potential Democratic presidential aspirants, I suspect Newsom would prefer to sit this out rather than face the juggernaut of post-assassination-attempt Donald Trump and his running mate, the magical JD Vance.

Newsom has now removed all speculation and has officially endorsed Harris.

With nearly 4,000 delegates up for grabs during the Democratic National Convention this August, it’s unknown who exactly will try to replace President Joe Biden on the ticket.

Rep. John Garamendi, D-Calif., tells “NewsNation Prime” that Biden’s endorsement of his running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris, has “slammed the door” for other Democratic hopefuls like California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Newsom has already endorsed Harris, calling her “tough,” “fearless” and “tenacious” in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“With our democracy at stake and our future on the line, no one is better to prosecute the case against Donald Trump’s dark vision and guide our country in a healthier direction than America’s Vice President,” the post read in part.

There is some good news for those worried about a Harris-Newsom ticked. My new favorite amendment is the 12th.

Newsom had been named as a potential Democratic nominee or running mate, along with Govs. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

There’s just one problem for a potential Vice President Newsom: the 12th Amendment.

The amendment outlines how presidential electors in the Electoral College cast ballots for the presidential ticket.

It states’ electors “vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves.”

While Harris lives at the vice president’s residency at Washington, D.C.’s Naval Observatory, she maintains official residency and is registered to vote in California.

That means a ticket with two California residents would essentially void the state’s 54 electoral votes, according to legal experts.

I am grateful the nation will be spared from Newsom’s bureaucratic buffoonery—at least for now.

But 100 days is still an eternity in American politics….and the Democratic Party’s convention is weeks away. And there are those on the Democratic side still dreaming of someone other than Harris at the top of the ticket.

A top Democratic pollster is circling a polling memo addressed to California Gov. Gavin Newsom arguing he’s in strong position to contend for the presidential nomination.

The memo, by former Bernie Sanders pollster Ben Tulchin, compares Newsom with President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. A source close to Newsom said it was not sanctioned by the governor, who has said several times that he backs Harris, and that she was best positioned should Biden not run.

Tulchin’s memo that analyzes public surveys showed Newsom and Harris both behind former President Donald Trump by 2 percentage points and Whitmer trailing by 4 points.

…“While the future remains unpredictable and there may not be an opportunity for [Newsom] to run this election, nevertheless we thought it would be helpful if you had relevant data along with key talking points to be able to make the case that Newsom can win should such an opportunity present itself,” Tulchin wrote.

The memo also states that Newsom has better net favorability ratings and lower negatives than Biden and Harris.

I suspect that the DNC will not be the smooth and easy coronation of Harris that its organizers are hoping for.

When I saw this article title I thought I had mistakenly clicked on The Babylon Bee,

Democrats are highly emotional people. Everything they think, do, or say is based on emotions and feelings. It’s not uncommon for Democrats, at least the ones I know, to spend more time and money with their therapists than they do in a church.

Democrats, it is often argued, seek an emotional connection with their candidates, a factor that led to the election of Barack Obama. The question remains whether they will form a similar bond with Kamala Harris, or if they are simply asking for another feel-good candidate, a mere puppet. When I read that Eric Holder is vetting VP candidates for Harris, well, there you go. The 2008 and 2012 Obama playbook fixes are in the works.

Interestingly, most Democrats look askance when a conservative (like me) tells them I’m voting for Trump because of the issues. They always respond, “I could never vote for that man!”  Why is that? Because results don’t matter, only feelings, emotions, smiling snapshots, and cute soundbites. Trump doesn’t fit the mold Democrat voters have been conditioned to believe the perfect candidate.

Let’s not underestimate Harris’s chances in the election. The DNC is preparing for a mega-ballot harvest, and Republicans should take her seriously. The media will give Harris extensive advertising coverage across cable news, radio, local TV channels, and social media platforms, especially TikTok. The Democrats will have the money and power to place Dominion voting machines in crucial swing states.

He’s a good corporate man at the end of the day. There is no chance he will ever say anything at opposite ends of what the Democrat Party says.

Greasy Newsolini is as transparently self-serving and Machiavellian a hustler as you’ll find, on the left. He’ll go whichever way the prevailing winds of the Dhimmi-crat Party are blowing (as dictated by the apparatchiks and nomenklatura). But, always with an eye towards his own self-aggrandizement and advancement. Newsolini would have done very well in Stalin’s Soviet Union.

I honestly don’t know what to make of all this. Either people like Newsom & Whitmer simply believe Trump isn’t beatable and have decided to keep their powder dry until 2028, OR they know there’s a giant shoe that’s going to drop on Harris before the convention. So, they want to be seen as nothing but a team player until then. Either is plausible…or it could be something else entirely.

I have read she has the delegates in line already and verbally committed

On top of that she’s already raked in 100

Whoever “they” really are

“They,” representing the deep-pocketed, primarily coastal elites of the Dhimmi-crat Party donor class and dutifully leftist media propaganda organs; situated in NYC/Wall Street (a shrinking, but, still significant group), San Francisco/Silicon Valley, Seattle, and, Hollywood.

    The same cretin

The same cretins who marketed, deified, whitewashed and enabled the rise of the manifestly malignant narcissist-incompetent-dunce and hustler, Obama, and, who funded and empowered his corrosive and ruinous rule.

there are election years where it doesnt matter who the either party runs as the nominee. Some years the Republican will win no matter who runs, other years, the democrat will win no matter who runs.

2008 is a good example – it didnt matter who the nominees were, the democrat was going to win. (2008 was obama )

I think this year will be similar in that it doesnt matter who the democrats nominate and it doesnt matter who the republicans nominate. (albeit the republicans have already nominated Trump). 2024 is simply the election year that the republican will win.

Never under estimate the ability of the regime to rig the elections. Motor Voter will give them lots of ballots to harvest this year. I give Trump only a 25% chance of taking office.

This guy has never read a book and he’s proud of it. Seriously, google it. His brain is messed up and he reads a few summaries in big print. He wasn’t a bad ball player.

No Democrat — not one — operates independently. Back in 2020, the Obama-led DNC chose Biden and then instructed the remaining field on the time line of their withdrawal from the race and pledging their support to Biden. Or else.

Same this time around. Harris was always going to be the 2024 nominee. Biden was a disposable one-term president installed to do maximum damage with no political consequences to his enablers. Harris is, I believe, assigned the next four years.

Im glad I live in a country where freedom from government is the #1 priority

The Gentle Grizzly | July 23, 2024 at 10:42 am

No, Guv. You won’t be chosen for the VP slot. Too white, too male.

Gruesome is happy to wait for 4 years. If he’s going to run he wants to win and I don’t think he’s looking to take second place.

If there was a realistic chance, he would have run. He is many things, but politically suicidal isn’t one of them.

thalesofmiletus | July 23, 2024 at 10:53 am

The CIA has democratically chosen its candidate. Everyone else would do well to fall in line.

He’s got one big handicap: he doesn’t check any DEI boxes. He’s gonna have to “transition” or at least “come out” if he wants to have a chance.

The big talk with Dems this cycle is a pure identity politics ticket, like Harris and another woman (funny they know what a woman is, all of a sudden) or Harris-Buttigieg.

    Ghostrider in reply to Fat_Freddys_Cat. | July 23, 2024 at 12:47 pm

And if Newsome does decide to transition and run for the White House, the good news is that no one is allowed to ask his parents for permission since he just signed that requirement into California law.

Soros told Pelosi who told Newsom to back down

Eliminating Cackles from viability in ’28 was always in Governor Dippity Do’s and Auntie San Fran Nan’s playbook with this coup of Pudding Brain. The ’24 election is part 2 of the coup and is going according to plan.
