I think we are reaching the point where everyone can agree that the USSS and DHS were setting security up for failure.

They are ok if he gets shot.

I don’t think it’s an overt plot, that’s too complicated and prone to fail and indictments.

But criminal neglect? That’s easy. They are incompetent at everything anyway, so who would believe it was deliberate attempt to kill him.

I would like to see PA investigate the SS and share their own findings. I would like to see Cheatle and others indicted. Whether they get convicted or not – let’s get them in court and let a jury in PA sort it out.

Certainly letting anyone in, and being a rookie sniper they really were slacking.

Oh, I think it was an overt plot,..no person or group can be tat inept by accident

PrincetonAl in reply to MarkS. | July 31, 2024 at 3:53 pm

A plot that that there were multiple people consciously slacking to create the conditions, yes.

By overt plot, I am not yet ready to believe that members of the government were in contact with Crooks setting this thing up with knowledge in advance.

However, if evidence (and if there is any I am sure they are busy burying it now) turns up showing he was online and talking to mysterious encouraging third parties (FBI or FBI coached actors – a la their involvement in Michigan and Whitmer), then it migrates to the next level.

I am open to it, I just don’t see it yet.

Who is going to look for evidence of said third parties, if it exists? Certainly not the SS itself or the FBI. The narrative must be maintained.

Al is correct. His scenario provides a plausible defense from criminal prosecution even if it doesn’t protect jobs. Dems will take care of their own and let them “fail” upwards for being good comrades.

healthguyfsu in reply to PrincetonAl. | July 31, 2024 at 4:02 pm

Yes…succinctly summed in two words: “Weaponized Incompetence”

MajorWood in reply to healthguyfsu. | July 31, 2024 at 4:57 pm

Just like keeping the police away froM a place where someone wants a riot Or telling the police inside a building being set on fire to not defend themselves.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – Opening the door and waiting for an assassin to walk through it is not a good plan. If there’s a plan, nothing about it is coincidence. There are too many coincidences here for them to not be the results of planning. The level of incompetence that would have been necessary to deliver the circumstances at Butler is simply not credible. The circumstances at Butler were not the result of happenstance, the scenario was designed to fail.

It’s possible that there was no overt coordination (say between the USSS and the CIA). “We’ll leave the door open” was likely a very obvious signal to others who were being tacitly invited to send someone to walk through it. When someone walked through that door wouldn’t necessarily have been known to field agents, but they were being intentionally hamstrung to cause the desired effect to make it possible for a non-professional (an asset) to do the job. Crooks ended up being the shooter, one of possibly several who may have been prepared for different eventualities. But he was just an emissary, a message-bearer, sent as representatives of someone else.

    “Are you an assassin?”
    “I’m a soldier.”
“You’re neither. You’re an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill.”

Still think it’s just a long string of unlikely “coincidences”?

I have beachfront property in Arizona to sell you….

Well audio evidence VERY STRONGLY suggests at least 3 shooters. Supposedly including the shot that got Crooks.

Somebody at least GROOMED Crooks for the “job”. Somebody INSIDE had to tell him the time and place the security would be lax. No known attempts at any other rally/event.

I place this in the JFK category. (Same MO – shooter(s) and a patsy) A Government hit.

DaveGinOly in reply to MSimon. | July 31, 2024 at 4:19 pm

Crooks was supposedly shot by a police sniper more distant from those on the roof near Trump. So the three shooters were Crooks and two snipers (the latter near and far). (Presuming the USSS snipers also fired – eventually.)

MajorWood in reply to MSimon. | July 31, 2024 at 4:54 pm

Unlike JFK, there were several hundred “Zapruders” in attendance. And their footage is on the internet, where, as a friend informed me decades ago, it is harder to remove something than it is pee from a swimming pool. My rule is to download every controversial clip that I see because you can’t always guarantee that it will be available in the future. I wonder if they will bulldoze those fairgrounds like they did Waco to destroy evidence.

That video couldn’t be more contradictory or damning of the sworn testimony offered by the acting USSS director yesterday. When a navy ship runs aground, in a period of time usually measured by weeks or a couple months tops, the captain is understandably relieved of command….even if he wasn’t on the bridge at the time of the grounding. Why? Because he has an obligation to create an atmosphere of competence on his ship’s bridge, even when he’s not on the bridge.

We’re more than a month from the assassination attempt that drew Trump’s blood and claimed the life of a civilian and wounded two others. And yet, no one has been relieved of command yet. Incompetence isn’t just tolerated in the federal government. It’s rewarded…apparently expected when the mission is protecting Trump and Republicans.

I wonder how big the broom is, and what is under the rug at the CIA?

henrybowman | July 31, 2024 at 2:56 pm

I’m the one in our family whose job it is to scan the tinfoil hat websites, but DW just stunned me by remarking, “They sure are keeping it on the down low that this guy had several foreign accounts with over $1 million of funds in them.” I asked her where in the world she had read that, she couldn’t give me a source. I have surely seen no claim like it – has anyone else seen this claim?

Gross incompetence and negligence are no longer adequate explanations.

I think this video, as recorded down lower than those rooftops, and give the SS acting director’s comments about how small of a profile his snipers would be able to see from their vantage point, tells me if the Senate really wanted something other that election sound bites, then get the actual snipers in to testify and actual snipers asking the questions.

Boo-hoo to all of the missed political sound bites, but a former sniper, have “walked the talk”, could immediately get the information, including the philosophy of snipers only looking out from the protectee’s prospective, and discuss why nobody was assigned to that water tower that had a view of every rooftop.

That link is dead. Are they pressuring this?

OMG how brave of Crooks
running across that dangerous sloped roof … way to dangerous for
the SS … (spit)

and yes this is an inside job
and I am betting both FBI and CIA
have finger prints on it …

MajorWood in reply to jqusnr. | July 31, 2024 at 4:47 pm

They will soon release a picture of Crooks running with scissors to show jsut how looney he was.

On a plus note, future snipers will all be 1000+ yards away due to the size of the crowds at future Trump rallies. I suspect that Kamala won’t even be able to get all of her office staff to attend one of hers. Most would rather quit than attend.

henrybowman in reply to jqusnr. | August 1, 2024 at 12:19 am

Well, a couple years ago. Crooks was bitten by a woke, autistic spider.

Well, I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. The snipers didn’t see him? Zero chance.

Why didn’t the snipers shoot the guy on the roof with a rifle after being tagged on the roof with a range finder? Either the sniper didn’t fire first because he got told not to or because he was waiting until after Trump was killed. If the second, he should be literally hanged. If the former, whoever told him not to should be literally hanged.

Subotai Bahadur | July 31, 2024 at 5:48 pm

Looking at it from another angle [metaphorically, not field of fire]; how much trouble do you think someone from the SS/FBI/DHS would have been in if they had gone on alert and responded in the long period of time Crooks was visible and before he fired? Do you think it would have been career ending?

Do you think it would have been career ending?

how could it be ?–aside from trump there were several hundred innocent civilians in range of an in-your-face, lethal force threat preparing to open fire on the podium/stage/crowd

lord, the worst case aftermath is the alleged shooter dead and no others injured–how is that not a win ? how is that not fulfilling your duty ?

what jury on earth ( if it came to that ) would convict a leo/agent/etc. for taking out an individual with a rifle, in broad daylight, positioning themselves to open fire on a crowd of innocents ?
