UPDATE: Israel Retaliates Against Houthis For Drone Attack On Tel Aviv

Following Friday’s drone strike on Tel Aviv by Houthi terrorist group, the Israeli airforce reportedly carried out an airstrike on terror targets in Yemen.

The strike reportedly took place in the Houthi stronghold in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah in western Yemen.

The Israeli TV channel i24News reported:

The Israeli military on Saturday confirmed striking a port in Yemen controlled by the Houthi jihadists, a day after the Iranian proxy group perpetrated a deadly drone attack on Tel Aviv.”A short while ago, IDF fighter jets struck military targets of the Houthi terrorist regime in the area of the Al Hudaydah Port in Yemen in response to the hundreds of attacks carried out against the State of Israel in recent months.”

Houthi drone strike on Tel Aviv: Iran’s growing global terror threat

Iran’s multi-pronged attack on Israel continued as Tehran-backed Houthis on Friday carried out a deadly drone strike on Tel Aviv.

One Tel Aviv resident was killed and ten others were wounded when an Iranian-made drone struck near U.S. Embassy in Israel’s commercial capital in a predawn attack. “Buildings in the vicinity suffered damage, with many windows shattered,” the Israeli news website YNET reported Friday.

The American embassy appears to be one of the targets of the drone strike that hit Tel Aviv on 3 a.m. local time. “The aerial strike rumbled through the center of the city near the U.S. Embassy, causing shrapnel to rain down and spreading shards of glass over a large radius,” the Associated Press reported Saturday.

Iran’s proxy terror group admitted carrying out the strike near the U.S. embassy. “The spokesman for the Houthis, Yahya Sare’e, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement published on the social media platform X. He said it was in retaliation for the Israel-Hamas war and had hit one of the group’s many targets,” AP News added.

The victim of the terrorist strike was identified as a 50-year-old man. “Israeli authorities named Yevgeny Ferder as the man killed in a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv early Friday morning,” The Times of Israel reported Saturday. “Ferder, 50, had moved on his own to Israel from Belarus in 1999, according to Hebrew media reports. He is survived by a niece in Israel and an older sister in Belarus.”

While Friday’s terror strike is the first lethal attack by Houthis on Israeli soil, this is not their first attempt to target the Jewish State using Iranian drones. “The Iran-backed Yemeni rebels have launched over 200 drones and cruise missiles at Israel since November, according to the military,” The Times of Israel noted.

Following Hamas-led October 7 massacre, the Houthi terrorists disrupted global maritime trade by carried out repeated attacks on Western-owned commercial ships in the Red Sea.

Even before October 7, the Yemen-based Houthis had been wreaking havoc throughout the region after President Joe Biden’s administration in 2021 removed their terrorist designation in an apparent bid to appease Iran — reversing a decision taken by the Trump White House.

The Yemeni terrorist group is dedicated to jihad against the United States and Israel. The Houthis, formally known as ‘Ansar Allah’ (or the Followers of Allah in Arabic), proclaim their true intentions in the official slogan: “Allah is Great, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse on the Jews, Victory for Islam.”

Iran-made drone flew over 1200 miles before hitting Tel Aviv

The Iran-made Samad-3 drone “traveled about 2,000 km from Yemen to Israel through the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt,” the Israeli news website YNET reported Friday. “The drone used different routes to confuse the IDF detection systems. The drone’s payload was relatively small and contained few kilograms of explosives to prolong the aircraft’s distance, allowing it to cross Sinai and enter Israel through the Mediterranean Sea.”

The Israeli military has no doubts about Iran’s direct involvement in the drone strike. “Iran is funding, arming and directing its terror proxies in their attacks on Israel and the wider world. We will not allow Iran and its proxies to terrorize our civilians and we will continue to do everything we can to protect Israel’s people and borders,” IDF Spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Friday.

Israeli airstrike reported on Houthi target

The IDF on Saturday afternoon appears to have carried out an airstrike on Houthi target in Red Sea port city of Hodeidah in western Yemen, initial reports on social media suggest.

Report: Iran supplying Samad-3 attack drones to Mexican cartels, Venezuela

The attack on Tel Aviv highlight the growing global terrorist threat posed by the Shia-Islamic regime of Iran. Tehran is supplying long-range Samad-3 drones — like the one used by the Houthis in the Friday’s strike — to Mexican drug cartels, and the rouge Marxist regime of Venezuela, Israeli sources say.

“The same Iranian drones as the one that struck Tel Aviv are being supplied to Mexican cartels and to Venezuela, yet many in the US remain under the illusion that Iranian terrorism plays out at a safe remove from their borders,” the Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported, citing former diplomat and author Yoram Ettinger.

IDF operating in Rafah, central Gaza

Following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s surprise visit to Rafah on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued operations to destroy Hamas’s presence in the terror stronghold.

“IDF troops are continuing precise, intelligence-based operational activity in the Rafah area. Over the past day, the troops eliminated a number of terrorists in several different encounters,” the Israeli military said in a press release Saturday. “IDF troops have started a targeted operation in the area of Tal as Sultan against terrorist infrastructure and Hamas terrorists.”

Counter-terrorist operations were underway in other parts of Gaza as well. “IDF troops continue their operation in central Gaza, conducting targeted raids on terrorist infrastructure sites in the area,” the IDF added.
