‘He is Embarrassing Himself’: New York Times Editorial Board Pressures Democrats to Convince Biden to Drop Out

“He needs to hear, plain and clear, that he is no longer an effective spokesman for his own priorities.”

The New York Times Editorial Board once again has called on President Joe Biden to drop out of the race:

President Biden clearly understands the stakes. But he seems to have lost track of his own role in this national drama. As the situation has become more dire, he has come to regard himself as indispensable. He does not seem to understand that he is now the problem — and that the best hope for Democrats to retain the White House is for him to step aside.

The first piece came out on June 28.

But this time, the board aimed its fury at the Democratic Party.

Of course, they littered the piece with hyperbolic descriptions of America if former President Donald Trump should win. Otherwise, our democracy will vanish!

Well, thank goodness we don’t live in a democracy!! (Constitutional federal republic)

That’s why the party must convince Biden to step off!

“They need to tell him that his defiance threatens to hand victory to Mr. Trump,” the board stressed. “They need to tell him that he is embarrassing himself and endangering his legacy.”

What legacy?

“He needs to hear, plain and clear, that he is no longer an effective spokesman for his own priorities,” the board added.

Well, we know Lady Macbeth Jill won’t do that.

I notice the board left out Lady Macbeth Jill:

But since the debate, most elected Democrats have resisted taking a public stand, instead waiting quietly and hopefully for Mr. Biden to arrive at the necessary conclusion. Mr. Beyer’s office issued a statement after his comments were reported insisting that he still supports Mr. Biden. Others have voiced concerns without their names attached, perhaps hoping their anxiety would trickle back to the president.

But a whisper campaign is inadequate to this moment, because the moment is urgent. The longer Mr. Biden continues his grasp on the nomination, the harder it will be to replace him, as he certainly knows. The country has already seen what happens to a party that binds itself to the ambitions of one individual, and it did not turn out well for Republicans, who have lost their way.

For those at the helm of the Democratic Party — including the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer; the House minority leader, Hakeem Jeffries; and even the former House speaker Nancy Pelosi — the time has arrived to speak forcefully to the president and the public about the need for a new candidate, before time runs out for other candidates to make their case to the party’s convention delegates.

leftys push to dictatorship is sooooo obvious

Funny how they missed the embarrassing moments of the past 3.5 years, and for that matter, Biden’s years of corruption and racism.

Maybe they like those characteristics; they just don’t want to lose. Needless to say, the “unbiased” media have taken sides.

destroycommunism | July 9, 2024 at 11:35 am

remember it was the lefty that first served AND THEN NO LONGER ALLOWED a potus to serve more than 2 terms following fdrs completely moving america into a socialist economy

    ‘He is Embarrassing Himself’

No, he is embarrassing US, and has been for 4 years now.

And you, the New York Times, played a huge part in putting him in office and keeping him there. So don’t start trying to play the impartial journalist now.

I assume you by “the lefty” you refer to FDR, who served 3 full terms plus 3 months of a fourth term before dying in early 1945. Obviously FDR did NOT propose the post-WWII 22nd Amendment, which limited presidents to 2 terms, and was proposed by the Republican-dominated Congress; Harry Truman opposed it.
In other words, you’re very weak on your facts.

Whoever is running the NYT is pushing this.

“President Biden clearly understands the stakes.”

1. Biden doesn’t clearly understand anything.
2. The NYT doesn’t under what Biden (and his family) consider the real stakes. Their own power.

“They need to tell him that his defiance threatens to hand victory to Mr. Trump,”

They’re in such a flopsweat panic, they’re not even pretending this is about anything other than losing to Trump. If Joe Biden is incapable of running for president (and he is), then he’s plainly incapable of being president. You’ll notice the Times doesn’t touch that at all. They’re legit not worried about a man with dementia running the country because they know he’s not the guy in charge.

Likely Frau Doktor Jill Biden (the closest thing we have to a President) will refuse the NYT’s bloviating. Then what? I would like to see Biden* stay in for no other reason than wto watch the NYT be forced to declare that Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia Eurasia and that Biden* has always been mentally competent enough to be President.

Biden’s family no longer trusts the White House staff so Jill and Hunter have become his gatekeepers and one of them must be with him at all times so they know what is going on.

“He needs to hear, plain and clear, that he is no longer an effective spokesman for his own priorities.”

Never mind that Joe destroyed a functionally healthy country; has been a turncoat to our allies while being a patsy for every two-bit dictator on the globe; and has placed every one of the citizens of this country in danger of their mortal lives at least twice in only three years of stewardship.

No, his big failure right now is that “he’s embarrassing himself.”

Screw that. He deserves to be embarrassed, and so do you NYT. Long and hard. Preferably in pillories.

E Howard Hunt | July 9, 2024 at 11:48 am

He’s made a career out of embarrassing himself and sees no reason to stop now.

they all act as though this is a recent development,…it’s been going on at least through his VP time when he proclaimed that JOBS is a three letter word

GWB in reply to MarkS. | July 9, 2024 at 12:08 pm

Well, that may have been a display of his rank stupidity, and not related to his senility. But they’ve certainly ignore the stupidity whenever it suited their needs, and the senility since at least 2019.

henrybowman in reply to E Howard Hunt. | July 9, 2024 at 7:02 pm

A Toobin Episode at the second debate is probably too much to hope for, though it would hand the Democrats another one of their precious “firsts.”

….the best hope for Democrats to retain the White House is for [Biden*] to step aside.

How exactly will they make Biden* step aside if his wife refuses? This is what happens when you create a dictatorship to stop Trump: you get dictatorship.

They’re playing with fire. It’s just a matter of time before they have to wheel him out in a wheel chair. He’s gonna stroke out, melt down or have a Big One —isn’t that what you call it when Big Boys have blow out?

So easy to slip a little something “extra” into FJB’s morning “cocktail” to fundamentally transform the presidency. A little too much of this or that and Kamala is up to bat. This is embarrassing The Party and The Party doesn’t like it. Biden is the chief executive and is the “Alabama Tick” too deep to get out without damage.

henrybowman in reply to Paula. | July 9, 2024 at 12:54 pm

Redd Foxx, JRB Ware, six of one.

‘He is Embarrassing Himself’
Oh, honey, he’s been doing that for about 50 years. Ain’t no new thang.

The Dem Party owes a huge debt to the NYT. The Party needs to recognize its debt, and get back in line.

NotSoFriendlyGrizzly | July 9, 2024 at 12:21 pm

I need to buy stock in Orville Redenbacher…

If Biden goes, then they can get rid of Blinken

If Blinken goes, then they can install Yahyah Sinwar or Louis Farrakhan as Secretary of State.

And render Israel completely defenseless.

Seems to me that that’s what’s driving all this sudden newfound urgency. Disgusting.

That stupid, grifting, lying, pandering c*nt has been embarrassing himself for nearly 50 years.

My question for the Big Boy news conference. Where do you think the votes will come from to enable you to win in November? We might learn something interesting.

    Dimsdale in reply to jb4. | July 9, 2024 at 1:32 pm

Big oil, big pharma, big etc. Notice how the left always tries to make themselves one of the little guys, even though they control or persecute all the “big” things they complain about.

Never Big education, or big unions or bit antisemitism.

Now we have the “Big Boy” press conference.

With Jill and Hunter whispering sweet nothings in Joe’s ear no one can force him out. So, everything happens in smoke filled rooms before the curtain lifts at the Convention. They’re at it right now. That’s why Gavin the Turkey Vulture is circling the corpse. But Gavin is unsavory and toxic. No, it is someone else.

No way Democrats use the 25th amendment nooklur option on one of their own; a forever stain on The Party.

If he lasts in office the rest of the month, I’ll be surprised. Millions of Dem voters disenfranchised, but they won’t care as long as they can maintain a grasp on the levers of power.

The_Mew_Cat | July 9, 2024 at 1:43 pm

How about this for a formerly unthinkable scenario: Suppose Biden stays in, is formally nominated, and continues to decline at an accelerating rate. Suppose he barely can read the teleprompter at the Convention, and is totally unable to do this by Mid-September. At what point do Dem voters say enough! and just switch to RFK Jr.? RFK has already ticked up a point in the RCP averages since the Debate, but these things happen gradually, then suddenly. By Sep 15, RFK should be on most state ballots, and could be eligible for the next debate. Early voting opens a few days later in some states.

I hope this causes a complete implosion of the Democrat Party.

Everyone seems to be hyper focused upon the latest verbal diarrhea from the Moron-in-Chief. The problem is much bigger than him. The party is responsible for foisting him into office.

The party deserves to be thrown upon the dustheap for the damage they’ve done to the Republic, not just during the Biden maladministration but since the days of slavery. It’s the same mindset with the same goals.

Bigger, more expensive and more intrusive government at the Federal level at the expense of our liberties has been a failure, a complete disaster. This is not what our Founders envisioned.

Hell, a moron like Joe Biden would have fought for the crown, for crying out loud.

Biden is figurehead. Who is calling the shots?

What legacy?

Says it all, TY Mary!!!

Dr. Jill wants to outdo the machinations of Edith Wilson after her husband’s debilitating stroke.

Remember when they incessantly raged that “Trump would refuse to leave office!”
Funny that.
