Democratic Socialists of America Pulls Endorsement of AOC for Being Insufficiently Anti-Israel

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has lost the previous endorsement of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), because they think she has failed to be as critical of Israel as they desire.
This speaks volumes about where the hard left is on this issue. When a member of the ‘squad’ is too pro-Israel for your taste, maybe you’re the problem.

On Sunday, June 23rd, the DSA National Political Committee (NPC) voted to endorse Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) so long as she fulfills the following conditions:
- Publicly opposes all funding to Israel, including the Iron Dome
- Participates regularly in the DSA Federal Socialists in Office Committee
- Publicly opposes all criminalization of Anti-Zionism, such as bills advancing the IHRA definition which conflates criticism of Israel with anti-semitism
- Publicly supports BDS (Boycott, Divest, and Sanction) to end Israeli settler-colonialism
This initial endorsement request was considered upon request of New York City DSA’s Steering Committee (NYC-DSA SC). Earlier this week, the NPC received a request from NYC-DSA SC to withdraw the endorsement because it took place after the New York Democratic Primary and they did not expect a conditional endorsement or feel it was strategic. Because we have not seen evidence of AOC meeting these conditions, and at the request of the NYC-DSA SC, the NPC is withdrawing our conditional endorsement of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, although she will remain endorsed by our New York City chapter.

On Wednesday, the Democratic Socialists of America yanked their endorsement of progressive darling Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, bestowed just a week prior, for the sin of . . . acknowledging the reality of antisemitism within the pro-Palestine movement.
The DSA’s national apparatus had tentatively given the endorsement June 23, on the condition that AOC completely toe the group’s line on Israel, which apparently means staying dead silent on the issue of rampant leftist Jew-hate.
The group listed several supposed indiscretions in their indictment of AOC, including her vote affirming the Jewish state’s right to exist last year and a statement in April that supported “strengthening the Iron Dome and other defense systems.”
But those stances were on the record before the DSA endorsed.
It seems the final straw, the position that the Democratic Socialists just couldn’t tolerate, was learning that AOC had hosted a June 10 roundtable on antisemitism with the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, during which (the DSA claims) she “conflated anti-Zionism with antisemitism and condemned boycotting Zionist institutions.”
AOC is not alone in this. The Israel-hating left is even going after Bernie Sanders.

I’m not really clear on what anti-Israel or Pro-Muslim has to do with socialism… beyond the goal of using division to tear down society and pave the way for a socialist takeover of the government. In which case all religion will be outlawed because religious belief could be used as a rallying point for the masses.

There’s a couple of leftist orthodoxies/notions at work, here. Both have their roots in contrived narratives of an alleged “oppressor-oppressed” framework that is central to Marxist-Leninist/communist/socialist ideology, and, indeed, contemporary Islam.
The first is that the modern state of Israel allegedly represents an example of “settler-colonialism” that has allegedly stolen land from the Arab Fakestinian invaders from Arabia, which socialists object to. Never mind that Jews are the indigenous people of the middle east, having resided there for millennia, prior to Islam’s founding. Further, the modern state of Israel, which initially followed a socialist economic model and was expected to be part of the Soviet Union’s sphere of influence, is also regarded by socialists as having betrayed the movement, by eventually embracing capitalism and close relations with the U.S.
Secondly, socialists and other denizens of the far-left universally and farcically regard Muslims as an allegedly exploited and victimized class. Never mind that Muslims represent ~25% of the global population and have persistently engaged in widespread, historical and contemporary belligerence, violence against, persecution of, and, subjugation of, non-Muslims, not just in the middle east, but, worldwide.

But we should remember this — “the issue is never the issue. The issue is the revolution.”
The hard left is all about power. That’s the revolution, the seizing of power. Whatever issues help them obtain power are issues to be advanced, and then discarded when no longer necessary.
Have no fear — the hard left will kick Palestinians to the curb the moment the latter are no longer useful to the revolution.
This is very true. The unfettered exercise of raw power is ultimately the leftists’/Dhimmi-crats’ overarching goal/motivation.
I do feel that it is more likely that the newly emboldened, enabled and empowered Muslim supremacists and Islamofascists in Europe and in the U.S. will kick the leftists/Dhimmi-crats to the curb, once they’ve outlived their usefulness, rather than vice-versa. It’s the Muslim supremacists and Islamofascists who’ve more adeptly exploited leftists and Dhimmi-crats, even if the latter group has done some exploiting of its own.
Non-Muslim leftists and Dhimmi-crats have no idea what they’ve unleashed, by fecklessly and hypocritically tying their wagon to an ideology that is the antithesis of everything that they claim to support.
Eventually those Muslims would be raping socialist women just like they do to every other group, as soon as they have a foothold established.
I understand the socialist support for the “oppressed.” But when considering Israel (a socialist state), why isn’t it held up as an ideal, representing a success story of a people who struggled against oppression? (And a centuries-long oppression at the hands of Europeans and Muslims. As “oppressors” of Muslims themselves, they hardly rate. The problem is most manufactured by the Muslim/Palestinian propaganda machine.)

I like what used to be our way better — level the playing field, and move forward in peace, leaving the octogenarians and their ancestral grievances in the past.
While many aspects of colonialism were brutal, the truth is it did over the long haul advance them, improve their lives over what they had before.
I think AOC could mend her relationship with the DSA if she would wear a large, red lipstick swastika on her forehead. It would send the right message, and all would be forgiven.
